    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

We consider the Model 613 as a close cousin to our popular Model 618 with just a few subtle differences. Perfecto® Model 613 leather jackets for men are made with U. S. sourced, chrome-tanned, drum dyed, heavyweight steerhide leather. This hide has a medium to firm “hand” and a matte finish. It is chrome tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners (which can actually weaken all leathers). Right out of the box this jacket will have a stiffer feel and fit. We always tell our customers that to make this leather jacket their own requires a profound commitment. Wear it often, explore the open road and watch how it conforms to your body over time. This Perfecto® model 613 leather motorcycle jacket was designed and built for the long haul, the short ride, whatever you decide to throw at it!

Schott NYC uses US domestic steerhide to help your leather jacket or “second skin” resist the elements. Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. You will enjoy the benefits of both stain resistance and sturdy protection with a leather hide whether you are riding on your classic motorbike or venturing out in the chill of a winter storm. For wind protection and added warmth the 613 features an attached belt, zippered sleeve cuffs and a durable insulated nylon quilted lining sewn into the body of the jacket. Our bi-swing back panels and under arm footballs ensures that this tight fitting jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all Perfecto® leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition used in the 50's, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the 613 from patterns that date back to the early "One Stars". In keeping with their original custom style, Schott designed this jacket to fit tighter than most for that classic bold and streamlined look. Offered in sizes 32 to 54, we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit. Many of our customers prefer to “size up” in this style due to its classic, close-fitting cut. Ordering based on your chest size will give you that snug, t-shirt only, bad boy look pioneered in the 1950’s.

The Schott Perfecto® Model #613 is still proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

    History:

The three pocket design of the Schott Perfecto® One Star dates back to the late 1940's. In those days this leather motorcycle jacket was referred to as just “Perfecto®” or “Beck model 999” (manufactured by Schott). The small coin flap pocket started out as a custom option offered in the early 50's. By 1955 this coin pocket became a standard feature of this biker-style jacket known as “the Perfecto® One Star".

Considered to be the best motorcycle jacket it caught the mainstream public's attention after Marlon Brando epitomized the coolest of cool, wearing his Perfecto® in that iconic classic film “The Wild One”. Originally referred to as "the One Star", it was officially banned from schools across the US for an entire year in the mid 50’s. Some believe this action served to make the Schott Perfecto® even more desirable to America’s young renegades with their “Wild One” tendencies. School Boards wanted to burn it and youthful rebels saved every penny to buy one. At the time, this jacket retailed for close to $50 which amounted to roughly 100 hours of work if you were a gas station attendant making fifty cents an hour!

The customized asymmetrical leather motorcycle jacket worn by Brando became the must-have anti-establishment symbol for 1950’s youth. The orders skyrocketed for this leather jacket causing Irving Schott and his son Mel to increase their workforce and expand the Schott factory. By the mid 1960’s the Perfecto® mens jackets had also caught on with the emerging rock n roll movement. Once again, due to increasing sales, Schott had grown out of their current factory on King Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. A few new factories later and still in New Jersey, Schott proudly continues this iconic American classic motorcycle jacket as the Model 613 for the wild side in all of us.

    Steerhide -
About this leather: Steerhide is a robust finished top grain cowhide leather that is as luxurious as it looks. It is plump, full bodied and rich to the touch, with a similar weight and warmth of naked cowhide. Its sealed finish offers an extra layer of protection against water, making it a practical choice for everyday wear (it’s best to keep any leather away from wetness for a prolonged period). It is then vacuum dried (instead of toggle dried) that leads to a slightly stiffer result as the fibers are not stretched and softened. Initially the leather may feel a bit stiff but given some time it will break in beautifully,m becoming butter-soft and conforming perfectly to your unique shape.

    Stiffness: Very Stiff

    SCHOTT ONE STAR PERFECTO 613

Excellent quality thick steer hide built.to last forever. Jacket is somewhat stiff fresh out of the box but softens up and fits like a glove after several wears. I wear 38 regular suit jackets (5' 7.5", 155 pds, athletic build) and I ordered the 38 which fits perfect. It feels snug initially but after you wear it the leather forms to the body. I can wear a thin hoodie underneath however its best with a t-shirt only. The inside pocket is convenient for a phone but you have to insert it horizontally for it to stay in place otherwise it will fall out. The pocket appears to be designed to hold old school paper maps. The coin pocket is just wide enough to hold my Iphone 11. You can't snap the flap but the phone sinks into the pocket up to about 90% which is good enough to secure it for walking. Heavy duty zippers and hardware. I don't ride motorcycles but the footballs make it easy to stretch out and drive a car and grip the wheel. It's a beautiful jacket. High quality and you can tell there was great attention to detail during the build process. Pictures on the internet cannot compare. It's much better in hand.

    GREAT JACKET/SERVICE

Published: Mon, 10/9/2023 by Mike Walker

I'm somewhere between 6'1 and 6'2 with a 38 chest and ordered the 618 size 38. It arrived in 2 days of the order, but I decided it was just a tad short on me in the torso.

I decided to try sizing up one, but the size 40 in the 618 was on back order for a few weeks, so I decided to try the 613 in the size 40 (apparently it's the same cut as the 618; I read somewhere there is about a half inch difference between 38 and 40). The exchange was seamless, and they shipped the 613 out within a day or two of receiving the 618 I returned. I don't know if it's just in my head, but the size 40 seems just a bit longer and fits perfect.

I owned a knock-off Perfecto 618 when I was younger and couldn't afford the real thing. It really doesn't compare. This is such a solid, well-made, and classic jacket. You can just tell this thing will last forever. I'm glad I ended up with the 613 because the stars just make it that more cool and authentic. You can't go wrong with this one.

    THE ONE AND ONLY

I love this jacket. The short length is perfect for me, typically I struggle getting leather jackets that aren't too long in the sleeves, but these are perfect.

Being on the shorter side (5'7") the short body on this jacket is great too.

If you get the right size, this jacket feels like it clips onto your body.

I wore it around the house everyday for a couple of weeks to start breaking it in. The first time I wore it out in town I had two different people compliment me on it, and one person asking about it.

I honestly think I'm getting rid of my other jackets now. That flimsy, soft leather stuff you get on the high street doesn't come close to this.

I think value wise, these Schott jackets are as good as it gets. Firstly, they are the original, so you're not cheaping out, you're buying authenticity. You get so much quality for your money, it's unreal.

It costs twice as much as a fashion brand jacket, because it's easily twice the jacket. But I think if you spend twice again, the gains will only be marginal.

If you have to get just one double rider style jacket, do it right, get the original.

Don't be put off by the heavy weight of the leather. Light weight "biker" jackets just look wrong. And you don't fully appreciate that until you try one of these.

Perfecto really is the most appropriate name for this jacket. I love it and it's put all my other leather jackets out of business.

I absolutely LOVE this jacket. Amazing quality item. Stiff in the beginning (as to expected- this a serious jacket) it’s famous for a good reason and worth every penny. This is a lifetime item. Extremely happy customer.

Hi its almost Perfecto....I do need some tailoring. I spoke to the store and they mentioned that if i need the sleeves shortened ..I could do that for $75.00 ...I believe I can do this at the Elizabeth St. store???
Please let me know it that is correct. If you have a contact person that would even be better so I can expedite the appointment or drop off .

Response from Schott NYC: You can contact us at customerservice@schottnyc.com for details on shortening sleeves.

Received the One Star 613 yesterday. Fit was ideal. I was concerned of sizing because I have never worn a Schott product before. I thought the recommended size 40 would be too large. After chatting with online help I decided to go with the recommended 'size up'. Couldn't be happier. Fit my shoulders exactly. No binding that I noticed although a bit loose around the waist (I am thin). Love the look I get wearing it and it will go well with the motorcycle. Seriously considering adding another jacket soon. Many thanks!!
