      Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

We consider the Model 118 as a close cousin to our popular Model 618 with just a few differences. Perfecto Model 118 leather jackets for men are made with U. S. sourced, chrome-tanned, drum dyed, heavyweight naked leather. This hide has a softer "hand" when compared to our steerhide and a matte finish. It is chrome tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners. Right out of the box this jacket will feel like it was custom made for you. This Perfecto model 118 motorcycle jacket was designed and built for the long haul, the short ride, and everything in between. Not recommended for those who are looking to just blend in with the crowd.

Schott NYC uses heavyweight naked cowhide to help your leather jacket become your "second skin". Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. For wind protection and added warmth the 118 features an attached belt, zippered sleeve cuffs and a durable insulated nylon quilted lining sewn into the body of the jacket. Our bi-swing back panels and under arm footballs ensures that this jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all Perfecto leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition started in the late 1920’s, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the 118. In keeping with their original custom style, Schott designed this jacket model with added versatility. Available in both regular and long sizes we often suggest this model for our taller customers. Long sizes add 2 inches to the body length and 1 inch to the sleeves.
Schott sells this leather jacket model true to size, if you wear a 42 suit jacket simply order a size 42 and you will even have room for a sweatshirt underneath for those colder days. With that said it has occurred a few times that some of those young whippersnappers are able to downsize to achieve that tight, t-shirt only, bad boy look. Of course this is just our best recommendation, as always we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit.

The Schott Perfecto Model #118 is still proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

The three pocket design of the Schott Perfecto Model 118 dates back to the late 1940's. In those days this leather motorcycle jacket was referred to as just “Perfecto” or “Beck model 999” (manufactured by Schott). The small coin flap pocket started out as a custom option offered in the early 50's. By 1955 this coin pocket became a standard feature of this biker-style jacket known as “the Perfecto One Star".

Considered to be the best motorcycle jacket it caught the mainstream public's attention after Marlon Brando epitomized the coolest of cool, wearing his Perfecto in that iconic classic film “The Wild One”. Originally referred to as "the One Star", it was officially banned from schools across the US for an entire year in the mid 50’s. Some believe this action served to make the Schott Perfecto even more desirable to America’s young renegades with their “Wild One” tendencies. School Boards wanted to burn it and youthful rebels saved every penny to buy one. At the time, this jacket retailed for close to $50 which amounted to roughly 100 hours of work if you were a gas station attendant making fifty cents an hour!

The customized asymmetrical leather motorcycle jacket worn by Brando became the must-have anti-establishment symbol for 1950’s youth. The orders skyrocketed for this leather jacket causing Irving Schott and his son Mel to increase their workforce and expand the Schott factory. By the mid 1960’s the Perfecto men’s jackets had also caught on with the emerging rock n roll movement. Once again, due to increasing sales, Schott had grown out of their current factory on King Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. A few new factories later and still in New Jersey, Schott proudly continues this iconic American classic motorcycle jacket for the wild side in all of us. There is still a Schott family member in the factory every day to make sure Irving would still be proud to put his name in these jackets.

First the technical stuff, this is 118 number two for me, my old one just having given it's life in an accident with a clueless driver. Unfortunately, my jacket couldn't be saved, but it did a great job of keeping my skin on my body! Thanks Portland Outdoors for coming through with a new one right away. Buy the size you would normally wear, as they run very true. Schotts are really well made, and will last almost for forever. If you're looking for a lightweight jacket, the 118 is not for you. Try a 618 or a 125/115 instead so you can feel the difference. Now the important stuff.....and since you're looking at this page, here's what you're really looking to find out: 118's are THE jacket to own whether you ride or not. When you walk into a room or down the street wearing one, you're going to get noticed, so deal with it. This jacket is going to make a statement and people are going to talk, particularly if a jacket like this has not been a part of you in the past. You're not wearing this to be ignored. A 118 becomes part of your personality and they tell other people a lot about who you are are. If you buy some junk knock off, well, that's really not the statement you want to make, is it? Don't think people can't tell the difference. Sure these cost more, but good stuff from beer to clothing usually does. You can wear this jacket every day, as it goes equally well with jeans and a black t shirt, or with a shirt and tie. Only two things: you'll need to wear it a lot to break it in, that's the only way it's going to become part of you, and like it or not, as others here have said, leather doesn't do you any favors if you're not in shape. 118s are strong, solid, cool.

I owned this jacket in my early 20's from 1987 to 1992. I absolutely loved it, and wore it everywhere back then-- out on the town, and motorcycling interstate to Oregon. Went down twice wearing it-- once when a driver turned left in front of me. I flew onto the hood, slid up the windshield, and landed on the pavement on the car's far side. The jacket protected me well. I walked away with minor bruises, and the jacket barely suffered a scuff. In time, I gave my beloved jacket to my then sweetheart, Lori.

Fast forward 18 years. Lori called me up from out of the blue, and asked if I wanted to 'borrow' my jacket. She was placing most of her belongings into storage to pursue a new job out of state. She wanted to make sure the jacket was cared for.

I motorcycled two hours for a brief but sweet reunion, and saw my old Schott again for the first time. It looked perfect, just as beautiful as the day I gave it to her. Slipping it on and drawing the belt through the chrome buckle-- the beautiful leather, comfort and perfect fit of the jacket left me awestruck. I'd gained a few pounds but it still fit like a glove. I wore my now 'vintage' Schott (LOL) on the ride home, enjoying a flood of wonderful memories. I can tell you first hand that Schott quality truly is timeless.

I still wear this jacket from time to time, (and I STILL get compliments on it) but I try to preserve it for Lori. I bought two more Schotts, and the new ones are just as awesome.

Just got my custom Perfecto 118. Thanks to Gail it's perfect. Very high quality construction and features that will be appreciated when I'm riding.

Gail really distinguishes Schott from the other brands and she makes sure that you are getting the right fit in the right jacket at the right time.

If you're a biker who demands the best in your riding gear I would recommend Schott and if you've decided to reward yourself with a custom jacket you can trust Gail to guide you through the process. My riding buddies are all looking to trade up now. LOL

I ordered this on October 1st arrived here (Ireland) on October 3rd. I've owned 3 Perfectos previously but never actually bought one direct from Schott. I should have come here first. The reason I didn't opt for a "new" one before was because I wanted that vintage/worn in look without having to go through the whole breaking-in period. For anyone who, like me, is impatient when it comes to matters of all things being broken in...have no doubt! The naked cowhide on these 118s are super soft and you can feel it contouring to your shape immediately. Also, these latest batches of 118s have a back length of 26" (in my size 44) which is a major plus as my previous Perfectos were just too short. As the name suggests these jackets are indeed perfect (yes, I know they were originally named after a cigar but there's no doubting the perfection and quality here).

Gail was great during the whole process. Great communication and a lovely person. If you're checking out second hand Schott jackets on Ebay then don't waste your time. Spend the extra few quid and get it new direct from Schott. You will not be disappointed. I was thinking it'd be years before I'd achieve that broken in look but with this leather I'd give it 2 months tops. The quality of the leather and the workmanship are pristine. The naked cowhide lends itself perfectly to a fast break-in period.

Now to go and smell it again (I LOVE the smell of leather) and stare at it with love hearts in me eyes.

I've had my eye on a Perfecto for at least the last 3 years now ever since my wife got a copy of one. I absolutely loved the style and wanted one of my own. After a bit of research I found that Schott was the premier jacket to own however I couldn't pull the trigger on the price. I have lots of coats and jackets so it was more of a want than a need. I finally decided to go ahead and I could kick myself that I waited so long.

Shipping was super fast and my jacket arrived well packaged. Upon opening I was treated to an overwhelming aroma of new leather. I was nervous that I got the right size. I wear a 44 suit jacket and that's what I ordered and it fits perfectly. I can still wear a hoodie underneath if I like. Craftsmanship and quality ooze from this jacket and I've already received lots of compliments when I've worn it.

Thanks Schott for an easy purchasing experience. I'm already planning to get a 141 in brown. Now that I've experienced the quality of a Schott, I don't know that any other will do.

Just received my 118 from Schott the other day. I have been looking at this jacket for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger. I'm not a rider but so what!!!!

From the moment I put it on I was hooked. I'm 5'11" and weigh around 215 with broad shoulder and I ordered a size 44. That is my normal suit jacket size and it fits like a glove. Just enough room for free movement but no excessive leather billowing out anywhere. It hits my waist just right. I have already gotten several compliments on the jacket but the main one comes from me.

This was my first Schott but it will not be my last. I'm already looking at getting a 141 in brown. It easy to see how people can get addicted to these awesome jackets. The craftsmanship is on another level. It will surely outlast me. Thanks Schott. You have certainly gained a new customer for a long time.

just got my new 118, wow, one noticeable difference has to be te sleeve circumference, people on legendaryusa website has been complaining about sleeves blooning up while riding, and vintage perfecto jackets tend to have smaller sleeves, so, now Schott regressed it back to the vintage size again while maintaining other modern features. the bell shaped cuff zipper is an improvement on the stick zipper too! overall, great jacket!

I've been riding for over 40 years, and have owned a lot of leather jackets. I've tried the high end customs, the standard mid ranges and the imported H-D jackets.
After I discovered Schott Leather, I did some reading about the company, their history and the infamous 118 Perfecto Motorcycle Jacket. I ordered my jacket on-line, as I couldn't wait until my next trip to New York. When my jacket arrived, very quickly I might add, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship. The sizes run very accurately, as this jacket fits like it was personally tailored for me ! This is, without question, the nicest leather I have ever owned. I have received a lot of compliments in the short time I have had it & this jacket will only get better every time I wear it.
If you want the Best Leather Motorcycle Jacket available, this is it.
When you look at the quality and heritage in this jacket, it is a great bargain.
Did I mention it's Made in America !!
Buy one, you wont be sorry.

Just put a Perfecto on. 2,3,4 hundred dollars for a knock-off? Just a little more.......and you could have a jacket that simply feels like no other. This jacket feels so good, the break-in period won't even piss me off. Just got a killer deal at Latus Motors in Gladstone,Or.. Seriously considered wearing to bed the first night. If you ever go down in the Perfecto, you first words to the paramedics will be "DON'T CUT THE JACKET!" instead of "How's the bike?".

      Hello all!

I just got my first new Schott Perfecto. It is the 118 in naked cowhide, and MAN is it a beauty! I got my first biker jacket in 1984 when I was 14, it came from Montgomery Wards ;-)). I have had many many jackets since, including several from well heeled manufacturers Vanson and Dainese. This jacket, by far, blows them away!! It is as the name suggests, PERFECT! I never kept any biker jacket for long, I never had that "at home" feeling like I do in my new Schott. I can't wait for the heat of summer to end, so I can start breaking my new 118 in!!

I use this jacket as the jacket i ride with everyday in all weather and i just love it. the leather is so nice pictures don't do it justice. it's heavy enough to be protective but not bulky like a lot of other motorcycle jackets.

i find myself wearing this jacket in completely inappropriate situations because i like it so much, it's becoming my daily jacket just because i really just love putting it on. tough to describe until you put one of these on.

      PERFECTO 118

This is a really good jacket. The leather is high quality, and the garment is well made and looks good. What I could not figure out is how to fold the outer flaps up and zip it all the way up to keep out cold air when riding without a windshield. I had another jacket of the same style that had snaps on the inside to snap the flaps into place and then to snap the collar down when the zipper was all the way to the top. This jacket did not seem to have that feature.

What an amazing Jacket. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading much hype - some good comments and some complaints. The Jacket is made with extremely soft & supple leather that is very comfortable to wear, while feeling very solid and i expect it will wear very well. For me the arms are a little bit long, but that isn't uncommon when i buy clothes. Overall i would definitely recommend this as the Jacket to buy if you have the money. Here's a photo - pay no attention to the tag still attached, i was excited and didn't take it off -

After much consideration and research, I decided to buy this jacket for my Fiftieth birthday. I was initially skeptical about buying this jacket, which does not have any built-in armor, for motorcycling. Eventually, after further rumination, I decided I will buy the jacket in spite of the lack of armor. This jacket is a great accessory on and off the bike.

      My initial impressions are:
      1. The leather is of very high quality and is very thick
      2. The jacket is adequately spacious for my build, which BTW is not that of a 20 year old with six-pack abs. I am a bit soft in the middle and fine with it
      3. The zippers and snaps on the jacket are very nicely made.
      4. The jacket looks very stylish
      5. The jacket is very comfortable to wear. I look forward to wearing this jacket in the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons, here in Texas, when the temperature will be suitable for wearing this
      6. This jacket is built like a tank - will likely outlast me

My buying experience was exceptional. My contact at Schott was Ms. Jerri, who was very professional and helpful. When I needed the exact measurements of the jacket, the ones that would explain in detail how the jacket was cut, Ms. Jerri provided me more details which helped me make my decision. I highly recommend Ms. Jerri who was a pleasure to work with.

I look forward to enjoying this jacket.

If you are contemplating buying the Perfecto 118, I wholeheartedly recommend it. I say go for it and congratulate you on the great decision you are about to make!

      Peace :)

I ordered a 40 and had to exchange for a 38. If you want room for multiple layers you may want to order a size up.

The jacket weighs about 7 pounds and feels very substantial. The leather is beautiful.

I'm old enough to remember when schools banned wearing these. I had a cheap vinyl knock-off as a kid but i am reliving my childhood now by buying the real deal. Call it a late life crisis. I highly recommend it (the crisis and the jacket)!

First off, I have to commend Schott on their customer service. Many have mentioned this before me, but the kind of attention I was given (by one Jerri Reyes) is unlike that of any company I've dealt with prior. First, she helped me decide how the 118 would fit me relative to the 613, which I tried on but found too short. Her advice was spot on, and this jacket fits like a dream. Secondly, she helped clarify my shipping address (the last thing I needed was a misdelivery!). All on all, I could give 5 stars for customer service alone.

Next, the shipping. I'm lucky enough to live in New York City, so the jackets are being shipped out of our backyard here. The best part, however, was my order was shipped within hours after I placed my order. The wait time was absolutely minimal. If not for the holiday on Monday, I would have received it then. Order it Friday, get it next business day - nothing to sneeze at there.

Now, the jacket. It is a thing of beauty. The smell coming off it is almost intoxicating. This is my first leather jacket, and I figured I'd go big. It is a solid, heavy jacket that felt as though it was molding to my body the second I put it on. Everything felt as though it was tailored to me (I am 5'11, about 175 pounds). The picture with the model is actually misleading; the length is accurate but the sleeves look billowy. This was not the case. I've never had a jacket where the sleeves have fit my arms so perfectly. The sleeve ends right above my wrist, so there is no dangle. The shape on my arms is sleek and narrow. I was very excited about this, as a jacket with too-large arms looks incredibly stupid.

The fit is less snug than the traditional 613/618, which is perfect for me. I am an active person and not overweight, but having a bit of room in the jacket was a plus for me so I can fit a slightly thicker sweater beneath it for layering purposes. It still looks nice and fitted with nothing but a collared shirt underneath it, so regardless of the temperature I will feel great in the jacket.

I balked at the price for months before finally deciding to take the plunge. I'm glad I did. Feeling the jacket on me makes me realize I'll never regret it. Now, all I have to do is stay the same size until I can gift the jacket to my heir in twenty years or so.

      Buy the jacket.

I just received my Perfecto 118 and I'm in awe of the amazing quality leather, impressive zippers & buckle, impeccable craftsmanship and stunning design. Hats off to a great American company and the employees that make it "World Famous" for it's great designs and skilled craftsmanship as well as outstanding customer service. Yes, the 118 is true to size and has a very smart fitted look. I'm 6" and wear a size 42. Sleeve length is perfect. Waist is pecfect. It fits as though it was customed made for me and feels as though I have worn it for ever. A special thank you to Jerri for her patience and guidance in assisting me with my selection. I agree with a previous poster "This jacket does make a dramatic statement". Thank you Schottnyc!

I have had my 118 for more than 10 years. I have ridden all over the US, in all types of weather: below freezing, hail, raining in buckets and sunny warm days and there is no other jacket I would ever desire to wear. This will be the one and only motorcycle jacket you will ever want or need, period. Highly recommending it seems to be a dis-service to the jacket.

I've owned several other leather motorcycling jackets (imported brands) over the years, but NONE can compare to a Schott Perfecto. Putting it on, you can immediately feel the difference in quality materials, AMERICAN workmanship, and overall "fit". I also own a Schott A-2 flight jacket, and the superior fit and quality is again second to none. I wear a size 48 regular. The Perfecto 118 is true-to-size, and fits me extremely well. A highly recommended riding jacket. Buy it!

My wife and son just picked up my Schott Classic Perfecto 118 Jacket today from Fog City Leather in San Francisco, The owner is one hell of a
      nice guy.
I was looking at the One Star Perfecto but was unable to locate one in my area to try on, Fog City had one 118 in stock in a 44 reg. we drove 3 hours to the city to check it out OMG what a jacket what a a fit and feel I was sold on it right then. Only bad thing is they won't let me wear it they have to wrap it and put it under the tree evil people they are. thanks Schott and Fog City. Sure glad I did not order that $200 dollor knock off.

Perfect addition to your collection . Great leather weight . If you ride also just the right cut to feel comfortable. Quality as you always expect and get with a Schott purchase . It’s going to be one of my favorite ones for sure . I’m sure you be delighted also . It is very true to size .

I have had this Perfecto 118 for nearly a year now, and as the title says, I never have had a better jacket.
And thanks to Jerri for excellent support with the size.

I’m 20 years old and have been drooling over Schott jackets since I was 18 but I had no money so I got a job and saved up and eventually pulled the trigger on a perfecto 118.

I’m absolutely in love with this jacket, I own couple other leather jackets but they don’t come as close to the quality of my 118. You can tell the craftsmanship of Schott jackets are high quality, the feel and the smell of this jacket is amazing. It doesn’t creak or anything like that. Feels smooth and I get compliments from girls my age and as well as older men haha! All in all it’s a beautiful jacket and I can’t wait to pass it down to my children.

I am 5’11, 234 lbs, and a 43-44” chest. broad shoulders and have a bit of a belly. I got the size 44 and the jacket feels just right with a shirt, has room for a flannel or a light sweater underneath any thicker than that then it will be uncomfortably tight. The length is perfect, I got worried the 26” regular would be too short but no it hits my waist just right.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you Schott for my beautiful 118! I might save up for another one

Just got my 118. Love it. Built like a tank, and really warm. This thing is a compliment magnet. I can understand why this company has been around for so long.

Been wearing it for the last few days and it was a little stiff to start, but is breaking in nicely. The jacket definitely has a presence!! You will be noticed. I'm 5'11" 175 w/41" chest, wear an off the shelf 40R jacket and the 40 fit perfectly - snug but not uncomfortable. I can easily wear a t-shirt and a button up shirt with no issues. Anything thicker and it would be tight. The jacket feels like it is conforming to my body and that feels amazing. I feel like it fits better and better with each day that passes. 100% satisfied with the purchase and sizing.

This jacket was literally the best purchase I ever made in my life! The price to quality ratio with all of Schott's jackets are unbeatable. Not to mention they're made in the USA. I will have this jacket for the rest of my life, and hope to pass it on to my children eventually.

Don't bother buying overpriced, lower quality leather jackets from other companies. Perfecto is the king of leather jackets!

I have been riding for decades, and have worn a number of jackets over the years, including some from major competitors.

This Perfecto 118 is super-comfortable and soft. Unlike some other leather jackets that are stiff and take a long time to break in, this one provides flexibility to reach the bars and maneuver my Harley w/o restriction or discomfort. It is warm without being suffocating. The fit is perfect, too. (I really appreciate fitting by chest size rather than S/M/L/XL.)

The only thing I don't like is why I waited so darn long to get one!

Oh if more people knew of this jacket! By far the best feeling leather jacket I've ever come to purchase with a solid heavy feeling that many biker types like myself crave! The leather once maintained with the recommended products brings this thing back to a mint condition without that 'unworn' look. Definitely a struggle to wear in the summer but that's what you expect from a black heavy leather cut. Best of all due to my wider shoulders and more narrow waist, tailoring this jacket is a piece of cake due to a special seam in the interior waist of the jacket, so if the shoulders fit but the waist end's a little loose just find a leather atelier and have it fit snug like a glove! Looks like they thought of everything!

      TOOK 65 YEARS...

It took a while to get the perfect motorcycle jacket, but this old boy broke out the Road King yesterday wearing my brand new Perfecto 118. I must say it is the most comfortable, highest quality leather jacket I've ever owned, and I've owned a few. I got my motorcycle license in 1970! The sun was out, but it was a crisp Autumn day in Maine and I was warm and comfortable. The leather is super soft, yet thick and rugged. The hardware is top quality.
And best of all, I feel protected, put together, and some sharp in my Schott. The fact that it is American sourced and made explains much of this. People who whine about how everything is imported these days need to man up and pay a little more. They will find that it is reflected in the quality and that the dollars stay in the USA.
      A word on fit.
I used the sizing guide on line. I am 65 years old, stand 6 feet tall, and weigh 200 pounds. I have big shoulders and thin, 36 inch long arms. (And a bit of a belly.) The site suggested a 44. I ordered a 44 long. It fit, but was a bit snug for my taste so I exchanged it for a 46 long. To coin a phrase, Perfecto! I'm not sure that will apply to others, but thought I should mention it. Customer service is A-1. The exchange was handled quickly and without hassle. Bravo Schott!
