Well crafted and beautiful jacket. I can feel the quality of leather and workmanship. The sizing is on point and it fits well on me. Its a real compliment-getter!
As mentioned on the website, this is a heavyweight jacket and there is an initial stiffness. It went away with few wear.
Since, I have been wearing this everyday, I found some room for improvement but not necessarily a flaw: The cuff area of the jacket is a bit roomy to me and might look sloppy. A zip could be added to fix this issues. This will not only add more flexibility but also elevate the aesthetics.
Been wanting to purchase my first brown leather jacket and it wasn’t until I came across the Schott Storm that I decided to pull the trigger. The color and style was exactly what I was looking for. The heavyweight leather is durable and will last for years. Yes the cost was 3-4x more than I’ve ever spent on one but this won’t be replaced anytime in the near future.
Fit is perfect with a taper that allows me room in the shoulders without any bulk in the torso area. I’m 6’0” 220lbs 45” chest and 36” waist. Size XL allows me room to wear a thin hoodie when needed and allows me to move comfortably. Over the last few days the leather has begun to soften as it breaks in and makes it that much better. Sleeve length is perfect and I have 35” sleeve length.

In the last few years I have ordered and returned half a dozen leather jackets from other companies because the quality and craftsmanship were lacking. My Son recently told me about Schott and I'm really glad he did. The quality of the storm jacket is excellent and the fit is just amazing. The jacket looks like it was custom made for me and I couldn't be happier. I am 5-10, 155 pounds with an average build and the medium fits me perfectly with room for a light layer underneath. The oiled nubuck of this jacket is thick and heavy but surprisingly soft and flexible. The color and texture of the leather is unique and looks fantastic. I am really glad I bought this jacket!.
For reference, I wear a 38 short suit jacket. 32 waist pants and stand about 5'7.
Based on the size chart I went with a small as I thought the M would be too big.
The small is WAY small.. I have a flat stomach and a 36" chest. Zipping up the jacket with a t-shirt on creates a super tight fit. Definitely too tight to wear with a flannel shirt underneath..... hmm.
Then (and I have seen this complaint before), the arm holes are either too small or funky shaped. So much so, that when I drive, the leather rubs my upper triceps and under arm enough that it makes my skin red.
Based on the size chart, the medium would have been too large.
It was only after a week of wearing that I noticed these issues.... or I would have returned it.
Not being able to really zip it up and the arm sleeve hole issues are a bummer.
I have an extensive Schott collection, all vintage, dating from the 70s through the 90s, but I was looking for a jacket with a more modern fit--less bulk in the arms, mainly, something more fitting for someone my age (63) but that would also be flattering to my still-athletic build. My first new Schott was the 673 Moto jacket, which was everything I was hoping for, though initially I wasn't thrilled with where the shoulder seam lay. It was higher up, closer to mid-shoulder, as opposed to falling just past the outer edge, the way vintage Schotts do. But within a few days, the jacket quickly learned my shape, and now I couldn't be happier with the new cleaner, sleeker cut.
One of my favorite winter jackets is the Schott 141, which is a nubuck delivery-style jacket that apparently was only manufactured for one year in the early 90s. Very warm, very rugged--a "fierce" jacket, as one friend put it. My 141 is size 44, and I'm 42/44, so there is plenty of room for layers underneath, but the sleeves are that older, roomier cut, so it looks a tad ... "sloppy" if I wear it without the extra layering. After much deliberation, I decided to give the p673 Storm a try. I ordered a large, and it fit perfectly out of the box, though a tad more snuggly than the Moto. But I did my trick of wearing one layer beneath for a day, and then two layers for the next day, and very quickly the jacket opened up, maintaining my shape while giving me room to breathe and move freely. It is now perfect to wear over just a shirt, or a shirt and a single additional layer. While the 141 will remain my go-to winter jacket, the Storm is now the "neat" everyday fall/spring jacket that I was searching for.
Let's be honest, we don't only wear jackets to protect ourselves from the elements. We also wear them to impress. And the Storm does both exceptionally well. Don't get me wrong, I love black and brown leather, but nubuck really stands out in a crowd. It's rugged but not overly intimidating, the way "biker" jackets can be to some people. It looks great day and night. Wear it running errands, or out to dinner--or through the Apocalypse, for that matter. On top of all that, it smells great, too.
Schott did something that is rare--it updated its jackets without sacrificing the classic vibe (or workmanship) that makes them so sought-after to begin with. I purchased my first Schott in 1981, and here I am, over four decades later, coming back for more.
Bought a Horween Rider Jkt in Lg; a little snug so ordered an X Lg to try both simultaneously. Decided to keep Lg Horween Rider and Xchange X Lg for this Storm, which is same style in different leather in the X Lg so I could easily get a sweater/hoodie underneath.
Both jkts are exactly as all reviews reveal: incredible quality and workmanship - leather/cutting/sewing. These two are very heavy jackets (like most Schotts, I believe) so for an old dude like myself who is no longer so flexible, they are a bear to get onto my aged body but once on fit extremely well and with bi-swing backs are quite comfortable. Take a while to break in but worth it.
Proof of the old adage "you get what you pay for"...............probably legacy items that will be passed to a younger generation like our parents' WW II flight jackets that we wore in college in the 60s & 70s (and may still wear)..
The jacket to end all jackets, great construction, great material nice dark rust color and leather quality is first rate, feels like it should last multiple
lifetimes, is a heavier jacket, weighed 4 lbs with my luggage scale but I have jackets that are heavier so feels great to me, wool body liner and satin sleeve liner feels great, would recommend this jacket and Schott as a whole to anybody, I’m 6’, 205 lbs and have the xl as I don’t like super slim fits and like
To be able to have a light sweater or long sleeve underneath and feel comfortable and not constrictive, back falls below belt to top of jean back pocket, sleeves are longer as you drive they sit perfectly at wrist when arms extended, 5 stars for me
Quality is amazing! If you are looking for a heavy leather jacket then this is it. (Estimate around 6 pounds).
Leather is thick with a beautiful texture to it. Color is perfect nice dark brown.
Rather stiff out of the box but starts to break in already after a week now. Can’t wait until it has the patina of everyday wear.
This jacket is the kind you will pass on to the next generation.
I’m 6’2”, 200 lbs, 43 chest, 34 levis - L fits like a glove. Problem I usually have are my long arms. Sleeves are perfect length and end right below the wrist. While It fits well just with a tshirt, I still have room for a sweater or even hoodie. So far perfect in 40 degree weather.
I ordered XL and L, sent the XL back.
This is the 5th Schott Jacket I have purchased. 2 from a dealer, and 3 directly from Schott NY. I ""outgrew" my first one Purchased in 2000 and gifted it to My son. He still wears it.. The others I still wear. A Perfecto Motorcycle jacket; a peacoat, a Rancher, and now the Storm. I have never had any problems with any of them and they are all heavily worn. Customer service is great, as well as the fit guide. I plan on wearing them all for many years. I receive many compliments on the looks and fit of the jackets
Heavy leather, nice wool lining. I'm 5'11" 180 lbs. The large fits perfectly. Well fitted, but comfortable. Sleeve length goes just beyond wrist as designed for this style. When driving or riding, goes right to wrist as intended.
