I originally purchased an XXL based on sizing guide, but it was way too big for me (6’3”, 230). I exhanged for XL and it’s perfect, and recently wore it over comfortably over a shirt and cashmere sweater. Perfect for fall, mild winter and spring weather.

I really love the quality, fit, and weight of this coat. I’m 5’ 11” and 185 pounds. I ordered a medium and it’s nice and fitted on me if I’m wearing a thin sweater. The fit guide said I could order a small if I wanted a more slim fit, but there’s no way that would’ve worked. If I was going to be wearing bulky clothes under this coat I would need to go to a large.

I’m 5’11” 230 muscular build and I bought this in XL. The fit is perfect for what I wanted it for. It’s very tailored, a little snug in the shoulders but that’s not a problem for m since I bought it for formal events and to wear over a suit or for going out, not rugged use. If I did buy it for rugged use I have no doubt it could handle it because the build quality is excellent. It’s warm, comfortable and looks sharp.

I’d give 4.5 stars if possible. The material is fantastic, and it looks, and “lies” great! I’m a little concerned about the buttons. One of them was not totally secured with a complete tie and the threads were loose. I was able to complete tying it myself and trimming the excess thread. Hopefully it will stay secure; I’ve had mixed luck with buttons secured in this fashion on previous coats. The pockets are also a little wonky such that the internal fabric folds up in a weird way and each time I put my hands I them I have to push through a pleat that develops. Not sure if this is intentional. I would have contacted about exchange for a new one, but the jacket I received was the last small left in stock. I originally ordered a medium as was recommended, but it was huge (I am 5’7” 150 lbs). The small fits great with room for a bulky sweater or sweatshirt no problem.

Classic style. American made. Great fit. What else could you want? This coat is simply perfect. It is sized wonderfully, taking into consideration winter weather and that you’ll be wearing a sweater or multiple layers. There’s plenty of room without it being baggy or chunky. The material soft yet robust. It’s great.

I ordered this jacket to accompany me for a move from South Florida to Washington DC this month in anticipation of the shock from colder temperatures. Not only is this jacket high quality wool and built to last, it is extremely warm and well tailored. I have received multiple compliments as soon as I started wearing it. I am extremely satisfied and will continue to buy products from Schott. If you're considering this coat just get one - you won't be sorry.

I'm 5'-10", 225 lbs with a 49 chest. The sizer suggested a XXL. I ordered that and it was too big. Within days I had an XL replacement. The Schott exchange policy is super easy and quick. The XL fits perfectly and the quality is what I have come to expect from Schott; excellent. Highly recommended if you are looking for a warm jacket that works in many settings.

My first Schott item and couldn’t be more impressed. The quality for the price is simply outstanding, to say the very least.

The size chart is spot on - I am 5”11, 255-260, broader built in chest/shoulders/upper back and this fits perfectly. Even with a hoodie or a crewneck it still looks great. The sleeve length is perfect too. Usually sleeves are too long or too short.

And the silky lining and weight of the coat is just a cherry on top. Almost went with a Filson Mackinaw but it was too heavy and itchy and no lining and more a shirt jacket. This is as good as a wool coat gets.

Having owned a Schott double-breasted pea coat in the past, I knew I could anticipate quality and warmth. This coat overdelivers on craftsmanship. style and comfort. Perfect for freezing upstate winters, you cannot go wrong in one of these. I'm a customer for life.

First of all dealing with Schott is a pleasure.
After getting the single breasted coat , I wanted to see the Pea coat. In the end, I felt although the single breasted coat was nice the Pea coat was a better buy, for durability and length of service. It really is a garment I will keep for years, as that's what I like to do. Buy for the long term. Pea coat five stars, single breasted 4 stars.

Top quality fits perfect I am 5'11 1/2" 158 pounds 38" chest this coat is a toned down version of a navy Peacoat well tailored can be used for causal or formal sized in a medium. I can only say that I was luckily enough to deal with Jerri in customer service she defiantly knows what will work for your fit and her product knowledge is fantastic! I did try on a 740 size 38 peacoat well made top quality great fit this was more coat than I needed it looked great tailored well , also tried on a 751 slim fit little too snug, I just did the return forms for them very easy process on buying a coat from Schott being able to look at their inventory on line Fantastic Brand and People QUALITY ALL THE WAY!

It is versatile coat and can be worn for most any occasion. The construction and finish compares well to the Schott peacoat but I prefer the fit and styling of the car coat when worn. It might be too light for the coldest of Iowa City winter but during the fall and early winter, it's my go-to coat.

I have a Schott pea coat and i wanted to get a car coat. The car coat is very good quality and fits perfect. I like that it doesn't have a vent and that it is made in the USA

I had wanted a mid length wool single breasted car coat in a traditional style for a few years but never found anything that met my requirements, until now. This wool blend coat is well constructed and of high quality. The thickness and weight are just what I was looking for and will keep me warm in the coldest UK weather. It feels quite substantial.
I am a size 44 chest and the XL is perfect for me to wear with room for layering. I tried it on with with a chunky submariner type sweater and it was very comfortable. It still looks and feels fine with thinner layers. A suit jacket or blazer could also be worn underneath.
The dark navy blue colour is also great. Very happy,

I’m 6’1” 195-200 lbs.(average build) I purchased size L. I think I have a size 41-42 inch chest - when I buy suit jackets I try to find 41 for a snug fit. This coat was a little looser than the snug fit I look for in a suit jacket. However if I went down to a medium I think it would be too tight. The shoulders seemed to fit pretty well which I think is the most important. The sleeve length is a little bit longer than my suit jacket which is good in case I ever want to wear it over a suit. As I mentioned the shoulders fit well but it did kind of balloon out a little bit moving downward. I had it tailored to bring in the sides a little bit(cost me $45), but after I did that I love the fit. I guess all in all I spent $365 but I’m ok with that because I can see this jacket lasting a long time and I love the fit now.

The construction of this coat is excellent. The 24oz. wool blend is a very good weight. I live in New England, I have worn this coat in temperatures ranging from -2 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. I have worn it comfortably with and without a sweater. The 5th button allows a nice closure around the neck on windy days. I am 5' 7", 145lbs, the medium fit (as recommended) is perfect. The deep navy color is very nice. Personally, I am glad it does not have a vent in back. I am very satisfied and look forward to wearing this coat for quite some time to come.

I was looking for a traditional peacoat and found this car coat. This coat is really looking good and the quality is excellent. It is a bit costly but worth every cent.

It is an excellent coat. It is like a single breasted version of a pea coat. It is warm and comfortable. A good winter coat for walking the streets of NYC.

Fantastically well-made coat that looks great. I like the fact that it's single breasted and the material is a tad lighter making it more versatile in less-chilly weather. Made in the USA! The length is also perfect. It's a nice in-between size -- smaller and lighter than a traditional peacoat but bigger and heavier than a regular style coat. The only con, although not a deal-breaker, is that it's an 80/20 wool blend. I'd prefer 100% wool (even if it costs more). Perhaps a small vent in the back could also be helpful when purposes. The item description on the website is lacking in details and should be more thorough and accurate.
