and had the existing one reworked, look great now, makes it look like it belongs now,

Third time was the charm. After trying and sending a few of the Schott jackets back, I found one that fits. Perfectly. And it looks great on me.
But don't go out and buy one. I don't want to ever see anybody else wearing one.
FYI, I am 5'9" and 165 lbs. Slim and trim (before Thanksgiving) with a 39" chest. I bought a medium.

FIRST RATE

This jacket my first Schott jacket purchase. Wish I had known about Schott quality craftsmanship and materials a long time ago. At 5’7”, 140lbs I ordered a size Small. Jacket arrived a few days later and it was slightly too small. Sent it back and ordered a size Medium. Medium arrived a few days later and it fit perfectly. Schott Customer Service and Exchange Policy is first-rate.

BEAUTIFUL & VERSATILE JACKET

Gorgeous leather. Color as shown on web site. The nubuck will patina beautifully. ‘I’m 5’9”, 43” chest & 34” waist. L fits perfect over just a shirt, with room for a light sweater underneath for cold weather. Sleeves maybe half inch long with arms at side, but perfect when driving or sitting. Wonderful for driving my convertible. Great masculine look that goes with everything from work clothes to evenings out. The light cotton lining makes it incredibly versatile over a wide temperature range. The jacket is not stiff even when brand new, and will only get easier to wear as it breaks in. I like the classic button closure for casual wear. Not great for motorcycle use but It’s simple and foolproof, If you want the more wind proof zipper go with the Storm model. Same leather but heavier liner. And of course nubuck is not the best choice for wet weather.

This is my sixth Schott. Love them. Have cafe racers in several styles & colors, classic heavy black biker jackets, and a bomber style. All are awesome American classics. But this one will get a lot more use due to its comfort & versatility., and it’s my wife’s favorite on me. Great investment.

Response from Schott NYC: Note from Schott: The Storm leather (style P673) is a much heavier weight jacket with a different oiled nubuck. The Storm leather is 1.3mm to 1.4mm in thickness, whereas in style 538 the semi nubuck is 0.8mm to 1.0 mm.

LIFETIME PIECE

I'm 6'4 200: Large fits great, long enough in the sleeve and not to short in the waste. Amazing craftsmanship, The leather is soft and wears as you move, leaving discoloration that is awesome. It's not heavy so you can wear it in most conditions. Moves well and conforms to the body. Very soft and durable leather. Would rec this to anyone who wants a distressed staple piece to their lifelong collection.

BEAUTIFUL JACKET

Have now had this jacket for 6 months.
Looks better than the pictures.
I'm 5'8' and wear med long in shirts, jacket sleeves too long.
Had the sleeves retailored and shortened locally.
Even my tailor was struck by the quality of this jacket and he's a harsh critic.

WORTH THE WAIT:

Out of stock when I ordered and resupply delayed due to Covid (I assume) but worth the wait. Fantastic fit & finish. When you pay this price you expect perfection and they hit the mark.
