Overview
The MA-1 bomber jacket 9628 was first introduced in the 1950's, but you could say that it's history goes back to 1935 when Dupont introduced synthetic thermoplastic polymer fiber that was used to create the first ever NYLON fabric. This revolutionary fabric was originally created for the U.S. Military. The U.S. Military first used it for parachutes, but soon it was put to use in many ways, including Flight Jackets.
In the 1930s Military Pilots wore leather jackets, in the late 40's these aviators began wearing insulated jackets made of dense cotton, but by the 1950's U.S.A.F. Pilots were flying missions wearing the first ever issued NYLON Flight Satin MA-1's.
