    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

Our classic café racer is a true four season riding jacket. Customer demand has kept this design in constant production for over forty years. We know you will agree that it is our most versatile leather jacket! The Model 141 leather jackets for men are made with U. S. sourced, chrome-tanned, drum dyed, heavyweight naked leather. This hide has a softer "hand" when compared to our steerhide and a matte finish. It is chrome tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners. Right out of the box this jacket will feel like it was custom made for you.

Schott NYC uses heavyweight naked cowhide to help your leather jacket become your "second skin". Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. For wind protection and added warmth the 141 features an inside wind flap under the main zipper, a zip out pile lining and zippered sleeve cuffs. Our bi-swing back panels and under arm footballs ensures that this jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition started in the late 1920’s, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the model 141. Available in both regular and long sizes we often suggest this model for our taller customers. Offered in sizes 32 to 54 in regular and 36 to 54 in long we are confident one of these regularly stocked sizes will fit. Schott sells this leather jacket model true to size, if you wear a 42 suit jacket simply order a size 42 and you will even have room for a sweatshirt underneath for those colder days. Of course this is just our best recommendation, as always we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit.

The Schott Model #141 is still proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

    History:

The Cafe Racer leather jacket design that became mainstream in the 1960's was developed in England. As soldiers were returning home after WWII they caught the bug of souping up older, prewar motorbikes. These motorcycles were raced between local pubs and cafes which created the need for a streamlined, minimalist leather racing jacket. Traveling at times in excess of 100 MPH was a fairly dangerous proposition on the roads that were more like trails at the time. Heavy horsehide and of course a strong main zipper added a certain level of protection for these speed happy daredevils. One would imagine there were wagers made and records set during these early cafe racing days.

Schott Brothers has produced a café racer leather motorcycle jacket since we produced model 666 RS for Beck in 1956. It was called a "Leather Racing Shirt" and cost $28.95 at the time. Schott also marketed our own racing jacket as the model 641XX. In the early days these leather jackets had symmetrical zippered pockets on the chest, an adjustable snap collar strap and zippered sleeve cuffs. As they were worn and abused many examples found today are missing any signs of the original inside linings.

Rooted in tradition, the Schott Model 141 continues this cafe racer style from the 50's. Based on these early leather motorcycle jacket café racer designs the 141 has changed ever so slightly. We feel our updates have made a legendary design better and even more versatile. Schott continues production of the Café Racer motorcycle jacket style, as always, right here in the U.S.A, with a Schott family member hands on in the factory every single day.

About this leather: Our naked cowhide leather is a premium top grain cowhide that combines comfort and durability. The leather boasts a naturally tight open pore structure that ensures a softer touch and superior comfort. Its weight and warmth are on par with deluxe heavy steerhide. The full aniline, drum dyed process preserves the leather’s texture, enhancing its natural grain with a subtle, semi-matte finish. It is then vacuum dried (instead of toggle dried) that leads to a slightly stiffer result as the fibers are not stretched and softened. The leather is designed to age gracefully and expand its characteristics over time.

    THE PERFECT MOTORCYCLE LEATHER

Published: Fri, 12/20/2024 by Don Goldstein

I am a motorcyclist for over 40 years and have always demanded the highest quality out of both my motorcycles and equipment. It’s been about 20 years since I purchased my last leather jacket and it was time for a new style. In doing much research, I narrowed down my search to a Belstaff and Schott. I chose the Schott 141 Cafe Racer for many reasons with the top one being the Outstanding quality of the jacket and the fit. I love the thick leather, the removable liner, which helps make this an all season jacket Most importantly was the comfortable fit where I found Schotts Sizing recommendations were spot on. I am 5‘10“ 200 pounds muscular build and a size 44 fit perfectly. As great as the 141 looks and feels it also felt great while on my cruiser and sport touring bike. The sleeves are a perfect length for reaching the bars too. What’s really cool about this jacket as you do not have to be a motorcyclist to enjoy it as the style looks really cool on or off a motorcycle Added BIG bonus was the fact that the company is still run by the Schott family , headquartered in New York City and made right here in the USA 🇺🇸. I highly recommend this jacket

    NICE!

Published: Fri, 10/11/2024 by Jon Lisbin

Nicest jacket I ever owned hands down. 5' 10 190 Lbs. I purchased a size 42 and it fits snug but is starting to loosen up. I had first tried a 44 and it fit well but was a little boxy around the stomach so I called customer service and we decided on the 42, especially since I ride a motorcycle. Apparently you don't want a loose jacket during rides that could shift in a crash. Also, I just felt the 42 is more form fitting and looks better on me. Honestly though they both looked great.

Not sure how much layering I can do with this until it works itself in. Of course I've been wearing it 24/7 just to do that :-).

Quality product, good customer service and should last you a lifetime. Not saying anything anyone else has already said. Enjoy.

This is my first leather jacket ever and it feels great even if I’ve only had it for a few hours now. It’s hefty to pick up but when I’m wearing it, I don’t even notice it/it doesn’t weigh me down. Build quality feels amazing and like it’ll last forever.

    AMERICAN BEAUTY!

At 55 , I decided to buy my first leather riding jacket. As expected, it is high quality and well made. To help others with sizing questions, I am 6’1”, 207 lbs, average build. Using the fit chart on Schott's website, I ordered a 42 regular. When it arrived, I found that it was slightly too short, it just felt a bit too small. When seated on the bike, the sleeves rode up as did the back. Schott's exchange process was very easy and painless. A 42 long is perfect. Sleeves are proper length when reaching for the handlebars and no peekaboo when seated! Although its an expensive jacket, I am proud to support am American business and it was money well spent. The only suggestion I would make to Schott is to use a two way zipper, rather than a conventional zipper. More biker friendly.

    GREAT JACKET

Love the jacket. I got the 48L, and even though it's a "long", it sits at the belt just right. In fact, I need to wear shorter shirts (untucked) so they don't hang lower than the jacket. I originally purchased the 641 and it was way too small/slim/short. Support was very fast in helping me figure out the right size and sending in the return. The 141 is not as slim, but definitely not baggy. It's perfect for my body type. I'm 6'2", 230lbs, I have a belly (not huge pot belly, just some extra beer storage). I wear a 48L suit jacket, so this is TTS. The only issue, and it's almost not worth mentioning, is how the material is folded over and sewn right below the zipper catch. So I have to push some material away from the zipper catch to get the zipper started, which is a little frustrating when you just want to reach down and zip. I have to fumble with it, and look down at what I'm doing, can't just "zip by feel". But hey, it's a thick leather jacket, it will be ok! I've gotten very positive comments from friends when I show up in my new jacket. My female friends in particular ;)

SLEEVES DO NOT FIT LIKE SHOWN

The jacket it self is high quality with deplorable fit. The pictures on the web site illustrate a decent fit, in reality the sleeves are way longer.

    AWESOME JACKET

This is my first Schott leather jacket and probably not my last. Was drawn between this and the 530 and chose the 141 because of the sizing compared to suits. Basically what you already wear is what you should get, and they are right. First, a big thanks to Schott for their exchange policy. I very quickly went from a 48L, to a 46R and settled on the 48R I wear now. Customer service was responsive to questions, and their process is very efficient without a hiccup. Ultimately the jacket fits as a 141 should which is a bit to the forgiving side, and that's what I wanted. I have a somewhat athletic build at 6'1", 250lbs. Not a terribly wide chest, but broad shoulders, a deep back with taper and big hips. I can't fit into slim anything, and even tailored fits tend to be restrictive. The bi-swing back and underarm footballs are ideal for me. This fits very well with room to layer, and even accomodate some weight change as the jacket falls at the hip and across the shoulders where I need it to. The leather while soft, is thick and despite no break in required, I can feel it conforming to me as I wear it. It's very comfortable, the liner does improve function in cold weather and overall is a killer look. I love the function first, arguably overbuilt design. I wanted robust and got that in something that off the shelf, fits really good that will outlast me. Great jacket, definitely recommend it.
