    Fit and Construction:

Model 530 leather jackets for men are made with chrome-tanned, drum dyed, plump & spongy hides. You will find this jacket to be very comfortable to wear the moment you first try it on!

Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. You will enjoy the benefits of both stain resistance and added protection while riding on your classic motorbike or kicking back with friends at the local pub. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last.
As with all our leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition used in the 50's, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the Model 530. In keeping with their original custom style, Schott designed this jacket to fit tighter than most for that classic bold and streamlined look. Offered in sizes XS to 4XL we suggest you check our sizing guide and measurements to determine best fit.

The Schott Model 530 is proudly made in the USA. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

    History:

The Cafe Racer leather jacket design that became mainstream in the 1960's was developed in England. As soldiers were returning home after WWII they caught the bug of souping up older, prewar motorbikes. These motorcycles were raced between local pubs and cafes which created the need for a streamlined, minimalist leather racing jacket. Traveling at times in excess of 100 MPH was a fairly dangerous proposition on the roads that were more like trails at the time. Heavy horsehide and of course a strong main zipper added a certain level of protection for these speed happy daredevils. One would imagine there were wagers made and records set during these early cafe racing days.

Schott Brothers has produced a café racer leather motorcycle jacket since we produced model 666 RS for Beck in 1956. It was called a "Leather Racing Shirt" and cost $28.95 at the time. Schott also marketed our own racing jacket as the model 641XX. In the early days these leather jackets had symmetrical zippered pockets on the chest, an adjustable snap collar strap and zippered sleeve cuffs. As they were worn and abused many examples found today are missing any signs of the original inside linings.

Rooted in tradition, the Schott Model 530 continues this cafe racer style from the 50's. Based on early racer designs the 530 has changed a bit but the overall concept remains the same. Design a tight fitting, no frills mens leather jacket with a cool, refined look. We feel our Café Racer’s accomplished this and make a profound statement. Schott continues production of the classic Café Racer motorcycle jacket style, as always, right here in the U.S.A.

    About this leather:
Our medium weight top grain naked, pebbled cowhide is a testament to timeless elegance and rustic charm. Each open pore hide is drum dyed, culminating in a matte finish that speaks to those with an appreciation for understated luxury. The leather undergoes a special tumbling process, enhancing its texture to reveal a pebbled natural grain. This softens the leather without diluting the strength.

I’m 5’ 10” considered a thin build and arms are a little longer than normal as I am a 35-36 in dress sleeve. I can certainly wear a medium in most things like t-shirts…but based on the size chart it said to order a large and I’m glad I did. And just to let more know I let my 38 year old son who has a slim build at 6’ 4” weighing 208lbs. There’s no way a large would fit him, he would need an extra large. Bottom line if you are on the cusp…go up a size…so basically a large is a great fitting medium with the classic longer motorcycle sleeves so while you are in the riding position the sleeves are long enough to cover your wrists.
And BTW….this is the lifetime leather jacket you’ve been looking for.

Great fit on day 1, Really nice texture to the leather. Fit is definitely slimmer but still reasonable movement without restriction.

    PERFECTION PERSONIFIED

The second you remove the plastic you are greeted with the most delightful smell and your fingers touch soft premium leather - woah. It’s an experience. When you slip this jacket on you know it was handmade and crafted, seemingly just for you - that’s how good the fit is. This has been mentioned constantly by other buyers, but it bears repeating.

I would rate this between medium and heavy weight, so as much as I’d like to, can’t wear it above 75 degrees. It’s got range, too - hoody, collared shirt, and tee - doesn’t matter.

Said simply, it’s perfection personified. Many thanks, Schott.

    THE ONE!

Published: Sat, 1/27/2024 by Dr. Mac

I have purchased several motorcycle style jackets over the years and I can honestly say that this the best one of them all. After reading the reviews for this jacket regarding the fit, I decided to order the 530 in extra small. The quality of the leather was/is superb, but it was a little too tight around the chest when I zipped it up, and I could barely move my arms--I wanted a slim fit, not sausage fit. Clearly, this was not my size. I contacted Schott, followed the exchange instructions, and shipped it back to them. The exchange was super easy and trouble free--great customer service! I ordered the jacket in small and it arrived within a week from the time I shipped it back. to Schott. The 530 in small fit me like a glove! I am 5'8", 155 lbs., 30" waist, and 37" chest. I can zip the jacket up without having to pull and force it together and the sleeves fall to about one inch under my wrist. Yes, it is pricey, but when you consider that this jacket will probably last for the rest of your life, it is worth the investment. Great product!

XL WAS A PERFECT FIT FOR THIS 6 FOOT TALL 200 POUND GYM RAT

    Published: Thu, 1/11/2024 by Rolidnot

Top caliber materials and craftsmanship. The zipper is robust and the fit feels bespoke on my frame.

An XL was the perfect choice for me. I’m 6 foot tall and 200 pounds. Been a 6 day a week gym rat for decades.. I wear a 43 sport coat. The 530 body and arm length is ideal and I’ve got a long torso.

I don’t think jacket would be a good fit if you have a big gut. It’s just not cut to fit large waisted gents.

The leather is very supple and the look is clean and slim.

I have 4 other Schott jackets and I really like all of them but this is new favorite.

My 3rd Schott jacket and this one is my favorite. Awesome quality and fit. I feel like a different person when I put this on. Perfect medium weight. The bi-swing arms really help fwith freedom of movement. Bought the black and immediately ordered the brown once I tried this on.
It's harder to find true high quality hand made garments manufactured in the US by experienced craftsmen. Schott NYC is the best.

CLASSIC TIMELESS JACKET MADE WITH THE HIGHEST QUALITY!

Published: Thu, 1/4/2024 by Charles Jarrett

My 3rd Schott jacket and fits like a glove! Perfect medium weight, incredible quality and made to last a lifetime. You will feel like a different person when you put this on. Ordered it in black and immediately ordered the brown after trying it on. It’s rare to find true American made, high quality handmade garments in today’s world. This company has an amazing history and culture. You owe it yourself to experience this jacket and the Schott culture.

Schott fit guide was very helpful as was their comparison chart and filters. I find their slim fit is best for me vs. the classic fit. Customer Service was very helpful for guidance and information (thank you Jerri Reyes)!

    FANTASTIC LEATHER, VERY VERSATILE JACKET

I own quite a few leather jackets, including 5 Schotts. (Yeah, leather jackets can become addicting!) This 530 is probably the most versatile of them all. I have an old 530 I bought used in brown and loved it so much I got this new one in black. They’re buttery soft and comfortable with no break-in required, yet are much more substantial and durable than light lambskin jackets. The pebble-grained leather is gorgeous and the simple classic styling goes with anything. Quality hardware and construction throughout. Get compliments whenever I wear it. Seems to be that ”just right” compromise between stiff armor-like biker jackets and flimsy light fashion jackets. The flannel lining is warm enough for moderate cold weather, especially layered with a sweater or hoody, but is light & breathable enough to wear over a T-shirt on high 60’s fall/spring days. I’m 5’9” 175lbs with a 43” chest and the large fits almost perfect, just a touch long in sleeves. Pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to zip a Medium closed over my chest.
The jacket is expensive but the quality and versatility still make it a great value. It’ll last you a lifetime. And make you look & feel good every time you slip it on.
