Exactly what I'd hoped for. Perfect fit, materials, look. All of it. Highly recommend.
They say that good things come in three's and that is certainly true because this is my 3rd Schott coat and like the first two this one is equally good-looking, built like a tank and fits perfectly. The craftsmanship is the finest in the world. I live out on the prairie of South Dakota and I wouldn't be afraid to face the fiercest of storms or ride the meanest of bulls in this coat and when I'm done with that I'd wear it to the fanciest restaurant in town because it just looks so stunning!
This is how iconic these jackets are: I was in a microbrewery outside of Garmisch, Germany in the dead of winter, wearing this jacket in brown as I sampled the various brews. Someone behind me taps my shoulder and says, "Excuse me, is that a Schott?"
I said, "yep, how'd you know?" He said, "they make incredible jackets, you can always spot a Schott." True story. The Storm was my first Schott purchase but I'm already scouring their site for my next one. At 5'11", 165 pounds with an athletic build, the small fits like a glove. I can wear a long sleeve shirt and light sweater under it, which is perfect for fall and winter outings. The build, cut, color, heft, and smell are all outstanding. The color is cinnamon - changes a bit in the light. Sometimes is a rich brown, sometimes has a reddish/rusty hue, in a good way.
1. don't call it a biker jacket
2. Cut the weight of the leather or thickness in half it is way too heavy.
3. Make the cuffs adjustable. snap adjustment for one inch.
4. The lining needs to be more versatile color a beige or a plaid.
5. I would give the quality ,color, style and proportions 5 stars.
Response from Schott NYC: We agree with point 1 - we shouldn't have called this a biker jacket - this is a delivery jacket and we have changed that. We consider way too heavy to be a compliment. We offer this same cut in lighter leathers but this one is for people who appreciate a jacket that basically stands up on its own but without too much break in period.
I used the guide by Schott on sizing, and the jacket fits fantastic. I am standard in almost all regards -- I am 5'11", 43" chest, 33/34" waist, 34" sleeves, 195lbs, athletic build (off the rack i would be a slim fit large). The Large was superb. I also buy custom tailored shirts and suits, and this jacket fits as well as anything I have ever had that was custom fit. There are some comments here about sleeve length, I have no such problems.
I am a rider, but i bought this jacket as a casual one.
As far as the build quality, this is stunning. I looked at this thing with a magnifying glass, and it is a piece of art.
If you are looking for a riding jacket, this jacket would be a narrow choice for an upright position (better off the bike).( A "cafe racer" might be better for a sportbike position. ) The weight and feel of the leather leads me to think it will last a generation. Schott, don't ever change.
I was pleasantly surprised (and I had high expectations, after reading all the praise lavished on Schott). This jacket is clearly made by people proud of what they do. I bought this jacket as one that can be worn both on and off the bike.
Schott clearly did their homework on understanding what "slim fit" should look like. I am 50 years old, but reasonably fit (43" chest, 33" waist- 5'11" , 196lbs). I can almost be guaranteed a slim fit dress shirt in large will always fit off the shelf. I can wear regular fit as well, but the boxy cut tends to balloon around my waist. Alternatively, sometimes slim fit jackets get too tight across the shoulders and the jacket simply is too constricting and looks too small.
Schott didn't fall into either trap -- the cut of the Storm is properly broader at the shoulders and tapers in down to the waist. The arm length is perfect for me (34" sleeves on my dress shirts. When i put it on i feels as thought it is a bespoke jacket.
Why buy a copy when you can buy the real thing at the same price? Every other leather bike jacket in the world owes, to some degree, its lineage back to this company.
This jacket is precisely what I expected from Schott. Quality Quality Quality. It is indeed a heavyweight and the fit was first class. This is a lifetime jacket that will never date.
My P673 arrived 2 days after placing the order. It is as advertised - rugged, heavyweight and looks great! Medium is a snug but comfortable fit on my 40 inch chest. Unlike the size 40 689H I ordered earlier, the P673 is more tapered and does not balloon around my stomach (I have a 29 inch waist). The size 38 530 fit around my stomach better but was too small in the chest. The sleeves on the P673 is a bit long on me but it's not a big deal. Definitely recommend the Storm P673!
The quality of this product is superb, and I feel like this jacket is literally indestructible. I intend to wear this jacket in the cold-weather months. I am 6’4”, weigh 200 lbs, wear a 44L suit jacket, and 17/36 fitted shirts, and this jacket in XL fits me perfectly.
Just got my P673 today. The jacket is top notch! Like another reviewer said, it's heavy but feels great & seems like it will keep you toasty in winter. Best of all it fits well, looks awesome & I got it on sale! Very happy with my purchase!
