This is one tough jacket. Too new to me to be able to comment on if it will soften. But I’m sure it will if I wear it a lot. It’s got a cool “old school” look. I am 6 ft, 205 lbs. I ordered size XL. Fits great in shoulders and chest. It was too wide in the waist area for me, so I had a local tailor take it in 2 inches at the waist. Now it fits much better. Well done Schott. I’m now up to 9 Schott jackets and hunting for my next one…
my first Schott jacket, very well made, sleeves a tad longer which is great for the motorcycle.
I would buy again but won't need to since this jacket will out live me!
I waited months for the restock of this jacket, which I see is diminishing quickly. I’m 5’10”, have a 44” measured chest, with muscular shoulders and upper arms. (Not body-builder large, but muscular). Jeans between 32” and 34”, so a semi-athletic body for being in my late 40s. Upon Jerri’s recommendation, I chose a size Large. The fit reminds me of a tailored fit dress shirt, but in a jacket. I have room for a thin flannel button up shirt, but wouldn’t be comfortable with a cable knit sweater or hoodie under. I love the fit! With a T-shirt or Henley, the jacket hugs my body wonderfully. It’s made with high arm holes, so that’s the major limiting factor in wearing bulkier clothing underneath. But I wouldn’t want an overall bulkier jacket for the few times a year I wear thick sweaters or hoodies.
Main zipper is very large and tough, and chest zippers, while smaller, are rugged too. Inside chest pocket is plenty large enough to fit a large cell phone. The bi-swing shoulders work amazingly and really help with movement, especially during the initial break in.
The leather… oh the leather! Initially, I was concerned that the thick cowhide would be too stiff. Fresh out of the box, I was able to stand the jacket upright on the floor. Tried it on and could hardly bend over. But I could see wherever there were folds, the leather was much softer. Bit the bullet, cut the tags off, and wore it to a high school football game. By the end of the evening it was much better, and continues to break in more with every wear. The leather is a gorgeous chestnut color that looks great. In the sun it has a gorgeous brown marbled shine that’s stunning! It’s a pull-up leather that’s made to take on a vintage look quickly - a trait I wanted. It scratches easily, and the scratches buff out easily with a little moist rubbing. Stretching creates lightening that eventually returns to dark, like any true pull-up. And it smells soo good.
For a general use jacket, this thing is awesome. I have motorcycle specific jackets, so I wanted a casual wear Schott. This fits the bill perfectly. There’s no insulation between the thick cowhide and liner, so it’s not going to be an extremely cold weather jacket. But for the Midwest, it’s going to be great for fall, spring, and cool summer nights. I love it with jeans and brown boots. It’s beefy, rugged and tough looking. And it just keeps looking and feeling better. I love it, and am so glad they were restocked. Get one before they’re possibly gone forever.
This is my second Schott, the first is a B-3 Bomber. The Bomber is stylish and great in the dead of Chicago winters, so I wanted something for the in between times when it wasn't yeti mating season. The Retro Moto is a very good looking thick leather jacket. Mine looks very similar to the pictures with the leather pull up. I wanted a form fitting coat. I am 5'9 220 lb 34" waist, big arms, chest, and shoulders (weight lifter). As expected it was tight in the previously mentioned areas. I wore it around the house for a couple of days and did some curls while wearing it to break it in. It now contours to my body. It fits like a glove and looks and feels great. It has a tailored look. fyi I can still fit a thin long sleeve shirt on under the coat.
I'm 6'00' and 190 lbs. I'm muscular with a 43' chest and a 34' waist. I ordered the medium and it fits as a t-shirt only super slim fit. Exactly what I wanted. If you want a normal fit with room underneath for more clothing and a little more range of motion order the large. The leather is top notch and I will be passing this coat to my son in many years from now.
Bought this jacket as a new year gift to myself and I’m beyond satisfied with the craftsmanship, looks and quality of it. I’m 6’ 3” and 235lbs with athletic built and the XL fits just perfect , the jacket is heavy and the leather needs breaking into and makes me love it even more. Well done,
The pictures on the website do not do this jacket justice. Very well built heavy cowhide jacket. It is made to take a beating and age quickly. I am very happy with this jacket. 5'9" and 46-47" chest and the xl fits perfect
This jacket is just awesome. Very heavy weight and stiff but it will break in over time. Fit is good overall, have not ridden my bike with it yet, but judging from how well it is made I am thinking will be great.
Beautiful leather jacket. Workmanship is outstanding and fits exactly as described. Highly recommended.
I couldn’t be happier with the Retro Moto style Jacket. Beautiful styling, beautifully made, perfect fit. Excellent customer service, advice, and shipping. Highly recommended.
