The jacket is awesome, as expected by a company like Schott.
Heavy, soft leather, heavy-duty zippers, stitching and cut on point, everything about this jacket screams quality.
It looks seriously cool.
Slim fit, if you need space for your belly maybe consider going one size up, hasn’t been a problem for me tho, mine fits like a glove.
All in all: Buy this jacket, you won’t be disappointed!
I had been wanting this exact jacket for years and when I stumbled upon it in SF, it was love at first sight! The fit, weight, smell and quality were everything I was hoping it would be. I have had it almost two years now and it looks even better now it's worn in. I could have gone an XS but I like that I can wear a sweater underneath. Exceptional quality and craftsmanship... I cannot wait to get the same in brown.
Beautiful fit and quality! Very rock and roll. Very sexy!
Compliments galore with this jacket … on and off my Harley.
I'm 5' 8", 140 lbs, 39" chest and a size medium fits me nicely.
I did a lot of research and exploration to try to find my perfect leather jacket, and finally landed on the 519 Waxy Cowhide Perfecto. I'm so glad I did. I had to send back the first order (XS) because of a minor defect, and also to size up to a Small. The customer service team was great, and the exchange was very easy, even in the midst of the holiday rush. For me this was a pretty big investment, but this jacket is absolutely top quality; the leather is smooth and buttery, among the highest quality I've seen in a jacket, and will clearly just get better with age. This is really a lifetime garment: the kind you could easily pass on to your children, and is certainly worth the investment. As a reference to perhaps help others with sizing: I'm 6'2", 160 lbs,, slim with broad shoulders, and like a very fitted look. The XS was a 'glove' fit, and would have worked with just a t-shirt underneath, but even then was a bit tight around the waistband (especially if wearing a belt underneath). It looked great, but I realized that ultimately I wanted to be able to layer with this jacket, e.g. wearing a sweater underneath it, and that was simply not possible with the XS. The Small is perfect (or shall I say, 'Perfecto'?), and the best of both worlds: it's still very fitted, with the same tailored cut, but has just enough room to allow for some layering in the winter. If you're looking for that lifetime, 'ultimate fit' leather jacket that you'll never want to take off, this could well be the one, particularly if you appreciate the elegance of a very well tailored garment. I'll probably never need another leather jacket, but if I do I'll certainly be buying it from Schott.
I am 179cm and 74kg - the Perfecto 519 in SMALL fits perfect!
Purchased this jacket on a recent trip to NYC. I've worn it for about 2 weeks now and it is fitting me like a glove, very supple and soft. I chose the brown one and couldn't be happier. This is not my first Schott jacket and I look forward to a return visit to the store soon.
I was looking for a leather jacket due to the fact that I never owned one, along with the purpose of wearing as a fashion statement since I don't ride at all.
I had a budge of at least $500 in mind for a "decent" moderate quality, but never would have I imagined some brands sell up to $5,000!
Online researching lead to lots of reviewers stating Schott this, Schott that, and Schott, etc. You see the name everywhere so I found the site and started browsing using the filters: Leather, slim fit, etc. Found the 519. The silhouette of the 519 looked really clean with out too much bling, bells, and whistles.
I was hesitating to place the order because I can't physically try it on, there are no stores around me to browse. With my physique being 5'3, 160lbs, and 42' chest, I can't not wear a boxy looking jacket, there's no way that'll ever look good for short people.
I emailed Schott worried about the fit, and I got response from Denise who was very informative and just with her knowledge of measurements explained in detail gives you the confidence to trust their expertise. I ordered the brown for less edgy look as to black.
Once I received the order, I opened the box and grabbed the jacket literally feeling the weight, leather being super buttery soft, zippers are big/thick, and the lining is so classy. I had a smile on my face for a quick second then faded because it was time to try it on....praying that'll it'll fit...
Once I tried it on, I was blown away how accurately it fit my body. It wasn't too loose or too tight, just tight enough to mold to your body.
There were two factors that solved over time, the tightness in the underarms and sleeves being slightly long. The armpit areas stretched out within days of wearing and now it's comfortable with tons of flexibility. The sleeves were tad bit long but then eventually once the elbow areas creased the sleeve length shrunk contouring my arms so now it's the perfect length.
Do not get your jacket tailored until it contours to your body first! It's better to have long sleeves and get it tailored once the jacket settles than getting it tailored without the jacket contouring your body, you'll lose a lot of leather.
The price is very reasonable as well considering the fact that other unrealistic fashions brands go from $500-$5,000, $800 is not so bad after all. Also, if you think about it, when was the last time you had any clothing at high price made in U.S.A either? It's worth the money in my sense.
The brown is very flexible for work, night outs, and casual wear without being too intimidating. My friends and family told me it doesn't even look like a motorcycle jacket either due to being brown.
I've gotten looks from men and women, and conversations start with "wow, that's a really nice jacket". Compliments alone makes you feel like a different person. You can dress it up or dress it down being very flexible to adapt any clothing you wear with it.
I actually loved the jacket so much that I placed another order for the 626. I don't expect anything less or different from this purchase, I'm a huge fan of Schott and will be the only brand I trust in terms of leather jackets.
Unwrapping this jacket was Christmas in June.
The 519 is sleek at the waist, snug on the shoulders, and lets a fella show off all those years in the gym instead of at the bar.
(Or in addition to the bar :) ).
Soft and strong. Color is better than any of the internet pix.
This 519 has got me immediately looking at a next Schott.
I worked hard. And I can.
This Perfecto has Narrower arm holes but wider sleeve holes than the "riding" jackets. Which makes it more comfortable and casual. Leather looks and feels great, it's subdued but there is a sheen in the right light. The Large Size has a 27" Back Length which is ok for taller people. If you want a longer Back length who wants casual and easy to wear, then get this.
Another small detail is there are not leather pull tabs on the main Zipper like on the "riding" Jackets.
