    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

Our 519 was designed as a retro version of the popular 613. The is one of our slimmer leather motorcycle jackets which is more suited for fashion than riding. Perfecto® Model 519 leather jackets are made with chrome-tanned, drum dyed, plump cowhide leather. You will find this jacket to be very comfortable to wear the moment you first try it on. This leather is made with an oil and aniline finish that gives a rustic look and a soft “hand”. As with all of Schott’s high quality leathers, this mid-weight cowhide is tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners.

Incorporating more of a fashion fit, the 519 is cut tighter in the arms. We also removed the underarm footballs for a more streamlined fit. The open sleeve cuff design and rounded shoulder epaulets were born in the late 1920's on our first zippered leather motorcycle jacket, the model 1928. Another change that was made from our original 613 design is the added snap near the belt buckle. This was done to keep the heavy buckle in place even when the belt is open. This Perfecto® model 519 motorcycle jacket was designed and built for the long haul, the short ride, and everything in between!

As with all Perfecto® leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition used in the 50's, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the 519.

The Schott Perfecto® Model #519 is proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

Right from the service to the product. From emailing to receiving my jacket in New Zealand i think it was 1 week. I emailed asking about sizing as im not a typical shape.... and the advice was spot on from Jerri. Ordered and shipped that day and arrived here a few days later. Couldnt be happier the fit has worked out spot on and the jacket is beautiful.

Okay, this jacket is phenomenal. Now that we have that out of the way, on to the review I wish I had been able to read when I was conducting my own research. . . I will begin with my measurements:
I am 5'11.75" Tall (just under 6 feet), and weigh 200 lbs. I have a muscular athletic build. I am built similar to Chad Ocho-cinco (former NFL standout w/Cincinnati Bengals). My chest is 43", and waist is 35" at the belly button.
I read all the Schott sizing recommendations, and most of the customer suggested recommendations and sizing information. As you can probably see, it’s all over the place! Here is the straightforward truth: I went with the 519 and decided to follow the Schott sizing chart with recommended a “Large” since I selected a slim fit. Here was my experience:
The jacket felt great when I put it on at the store. It was simply amazing. I went home and tore off the tags and hung up the jacket in my closet. The next day, I put on the jacket and felt a bit uneasy with the seemingly extra-slack in the chest area of the jacket. The fit was great in the waist area, but a bit too loose – in my opinion – in the chest, which created a deep wrinkle after zipping closed. This was exacerbated when I sat down, because the jacket is a bit long, which caused it to rise, deepening the already visible chest-droop. The sleeves were a bit long, but look natural when worn. The weight of the leather in the arms feels much lighter than the rest of the jacket (which I attribute to the thin lining).
The jacket was super comfortable the first time I put it on, but I know layering will not be a problem at all when it gets colder here in Houston. While I never experienced buyer’s remorse, I did feel considerably bothered with the fit early on. My preference was for a fitted (Slim/snug fit) zipped up, which would allow for the jacket to stretch over time to fit me perfectly. A few days later I tried on the jacket and pretty much realized that my shoulders were perfect, a bit snug, which would have made the medium a bit too small. Here are my suggestions:
If you are close to 6 feet tall and you do not have a broad back and shoulders, as I do, consider purchasing the medium. I know they tout the 519 as “Super-Slim,” but in reality, this jacket fit my guns just fine. Slim, means, not baggy. Size down, size down, size down! Especially if you want a slim fit. But, if you are built like me, and seeking a relaxed fit, the large is right up your alley!
Lastly, I purchased my jacket here in Houston from Reserve Supply Company @ 2205 Washington Avenue, Houston TX 77007. Jason, the owner, is super cool and has Schott’s instore for you to try on and experience the best America has to offer in moto-jackets. I never knew that Schott existed, until I saw on in Jason’s store. If you are in the Houston area, do yourself a favor and swing by. By the way, the worry went away in a few days. This jacket was best for me because of my wide back and broad shoulders. I’m very much pleased with my purchase and have zero remose.

I've been shopping around Schott jackets for ages, and fearing the other styles such as the 613s and 618 would be too short, I settled on the 519. But wanting a tight, t-shirt or thin long-sleeve only fit, I debated between a small and medium. I gambled on a small, at 6'3 190 lbs. On a tall and slim build, the 519 is a perfect fit, the body length is long enough to look natural while still keeping that signature DR cropped look. The sleeves were a good length, and although I could still use a 1/2-1 inch more, thats because of my overly long arms not the jacket being too small. I can zip the jacket all the way up although it is really tight around the belt area, so keep that in mind for how you want to wear/use the jacket. If I wanted to layer a sweater or close the jacket more often, I would have chosen my standard size. All in all, I'd say its a great choice for taller guys, and if youre planning on wearing it open with thin layers, size down, layering and wearing it closed, pick your regular size. And of course Schott quality makes every other leather piece I've owned seem like it was purchased at a costume store.

    519 SIZE GUIDE

Published: Tue, 5/26/2020 by Harry Milan

Not much more needs to be said about the 519 but I thought I should provide some guide on sizing.

I’m 181cm and 80kg with a 32 inch waist (Jean size) and have a small and a medium. The chest of the jackets is generous while the waist (sweep) is not. I think this is because the jacket is sits below the belt line. I’d say I’m in decent shape but I do find the waist to be too narrow compared to the chest. This just makes choosing a size a little more complicated.

I would recommend buying in your normal size if you are looking for a jacket with plenty of room to layer and a lot of freedom of movement. If you are looking for a more rock and roll fit and won’t need to close the jacket very often I strongly suggest you downsize. I think the small looks perfect however it is restrictive when zipped up or when reaching above shoulders. I can still get a hoodie/sweater under a small but probably cannot close it.

The jacket looks and feels great from the start. The leather does break in a bit revealing a more pebbled appearance than when brand new. If you are looking for a more uniform and classic leather I’d suggest the 613s.

I obviously liked the jacket as I have bought it twice. Is that a strong enough recommendation?

Everything I said before is still true of this jacket, but I exchanged the small for extra small and I’m glad I did. I’m 5’9 155lbs, 38inch chest and the extra small is perfect if you want a very slim, tailored look.

This jacket is pretty cool. I’m 5”7 and 150 lbs. the size S fits perfectly. The jacket feels awesome and the quality is top notch. This is my first Schott jacket and I’m super impressed with my choice. I used to only have designer (fashion brands) leather jacket previously but this one is much better in fit and quality. Keep up the good work Schott.

To keep this short and sweet, I was extremely torn between this jacket and the 626. I don't ride. I wanted something slim fitting, not too long, and especially to fit my arms slim. I ended up buying both the 626 & 519 in small to compare. (I'm 5ft9, 150/155lbs, 38in chest.)

Let me help someone out, the 519 is the way to go! The leather is much nicer, the fit is much more slim and tapered. It is extremely comfortable. It is a tad shorter on the body than the 626 which is good for me. It is so nice and I'm very pleased.

If I could, I would try on the 626vn as well, but at this point I'm so happy with the 519 it doesn't matter.

    I hope this helps!!

Saw this jacket online and had to have it. I’m 5’6” 160 with a 32” waist and a 38” gut haha. Medium fits great. Sleeves bunch up nicely so I have no problem with the length. It’s a beautiful piece. I got the brown version, and just ordered a black 118. Can’t say enough good things about Schott. Love at first site!

    MY 519

Published: Wed, 1/22/2020 by Rob Evil

I ordered one new last month and it’s easily the best jacket I’ve ever put on! I’ve never tried another Schott jacket before, but the 519 is top notch. I have a 36” chest and size small fits like it was made for me. Brand new out of the box it wasn’t stiff at all. It already feels broken in. I didn’t know a motorcycle jacket could fit so good.
Its best to just save your money for a quality jacket like this. I was hesitant about the price at first, but this jacket will last me the rest of my life and it was worth every penny. Hope this review can help out.

This Jacket is the “Swiss-army” jacket of Schott’s perfecto line. It works great in winter, in the fall, in spring, and occasionally in summer. It looks good with jeans, with sweats, with slacks. The leather is nice and supple, yet sturdy.

I’m 5’11 and 190, and the size medium fits terrific.
