Finally! I found THE peacoat for my husband. I’ve owned mine for over 30 years and thought that I’d never be able to locate the OG version in his size. I ordered and it arrived today. It is high quality, beautifully crafted and the deep navy color is a classic. He loves it and so do I!
Really happy with my purchase. I opted for the new navy and I'm glad I did because even that looks black to me in most light. It would be nice if it was a bit more blue, but that's a minor "complaint".
For sizing reference...
I wear a 39" slim cut suit jacket and I opted for the 38. It fits great. The shoulds are ever so slightly tight when wearing a heavy sweater but the 40 was too big.
This is a heavy, solid and very warm winter coat. All my queries were dealt with promptly and helpfully.
I am 57 years, 235lbs, 6ft 3" with a 44=45" chest. With layering, the 44L was recommended and would have been perfect, but was tight around the shoulders when wearing a fleece and buttoned up.
I exchanged with no issue for the 46L which was a good fit at the shoulder, but was bulky elsewhere. So I went to a tailor who took the jacket in from 1" to 1/1/2" from under the arms to the bottom. 1" was also taken off the sleeves. The jacket now fits perfectly and is a pleasure to wear. My shoulder measurement is about 21", but the jacket measurement is outer. I can see why 44L was recommended, but a few others have noted the shoulders can be tight. I deducted a star as I don't fall into Schott's idea of normal! Otherwise I am very happy with both the jacket and the service.

Love the Peacoat, I got the slim fit and love the size and versatility. It’s slim fitting but I can still wear a sweater under. The 28oz weight is warm enough even in the coldest days in the northeast and cool enough for milder days.
I love it. My son wants one.
I’m not sure there is a better quality, price, fit ratio out there for a peacoat. It’s incredibly warm, detailing is simple but elegant. I initially ordered a 36 (I am 5’7, 145 slim but athletic build) and the coat wore me. I thought it just wasn’t going to work but there was an exchange option so I ordered the 34. To my surprise it fit perfectly—still enough room for layering. Material is intentionally stiff but I’m sure will soften over time. It’s a lifetime kind of coat—a great and versatile addition to any wardrobe IMO.
I first tried the 751 Slim Peacoat and the arms were too long and the coat a bit too slim for Michigan winters. I exchanged for a 740 Classic and once I put it on, this is my coat for the rest of my life.
It's very versatile. As a clergyman I can wear it over my clerical collar at funerals, and yet, I can wear this with my regular clothes and not feel over-dressed.
I love the deep hand warming pockets. I'm not afraid of my keys falling out. The quality is top notch that I've grown to expect with Schott.
