Perfect fit, looks great, best quality I’ve seen anywhere. I’m buying another one in a different color. Schott quality is second to none. I love this company. I’m 73 years old and I always like to look nice, and I appreciate the great quality and style that Schott has to offer. I currently own four leathers and now this wool coat. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a warm, well made, damm good looking coat. I tip my hat to this company.
Contemporary design for an older guy like me. Outstanding quality and the moment you pick it up you realize why it's not a good idea to buy imported stuff. Extremely heavy duty the fabric has half and it's obvious this is going to last for many years.
Besides being glad you bought it for the quality and fit, you're doing a patriotic thing by buying something that has been made in the USA. I'm a a 62-year-old mechanical engineer and witnessed the great manufacturing Exodus of the '80s and '90s and I'm extremely grateful that we can still buy made in the United States. Support your middle class and avoid buying things from countries that point missiles at us LOL
The coat is very much as advertised. High quality, excellent craftsmanship. The service was also superb. It took a few attempts, but I ultimately found the size that works best. In my case, the fit guide steered me wrong. I ended up going with the same size as I wear in a blazer/sportcoat. It's still roomy, but fits pretty well.
I love the options that the collar allows for colder wind. Works like a charm!
I’m 6ft 155lbs 36 inch chest. Debated between sizes 34 and 36. I picked 34 and it fits perfect. I do like a snug fit. Debated over this classic version or slim fit. This is less expensive and quality is top notch. If your wanting a classic looking peacoat this is the one to get.
i recently ordered a new Schott peacoat to replace my old worn out peacoat i had for the previous 5 years. When my new Schott peacoat arrived i could not get over the difference in quality to my worn out jacket. My Schott peacoat wool was far thicker and warmer, 32 oz compared to 24 oz, than my previous coat. The interior lining was incredibly warm. i know i will wear this great American Made jacket with pride for at least the next 5 years. The Schott peacoat is the only peacoat you should consider buying!
Love this coat... closest thing I've found to the "real thing". Excellent quality and the sizing guide did me right!
This is the Pea Coat that is just like the pea coat that I bought as a teenager that was military surplus. I have another pea coat that is a cheaper aftermarket version and there is no comparison in the quality and the fit. this coat is very well made and fits like it should. It is well worth the extra money that I paid over the price of other one.
I'm 6'0", 205 lbs., with a 44" chest and a moderately muscular build and I ordered a size 44. The coat is a generous size, but should work when wearing layers or a sweater underneath. Nice, high quality peacot. I like that it's made in USA. Price is totally reasonable. I'm not sure if they ever made these for the USN or not (didn't really look into it), but it has a very classic look. 100% wool. The navy color is very dark/rich - not an overly blue color. Overall, a nice peacoat. J Crew had one for more $, made in China, and looked way less tough - pass. Just pick up one of these and you won't be disappointed. Size down, if looking for a slimmer fit. If wearing layers or thicker winter garb, stick with your standard suit jacket sizing.
I'm now on my second one of these after I outgrew the first, I bought that coat around the same time I re-discovered the gym after lockdown so I only wore it for one winter before it became way too tight in the chest, but it was a no brainer that I’d eventually get another one.
I ended up giving my basically brand new coat to my now 17 y/o cousin, but having never tried on a peacoat before he was a bit unsure about it at first, he’s more used to Canada Goose parkas and North Face puffer jackets. But after wearing it a few times and discovering that it’s incredibly warm and more importantly that his mates really like it, it’s quickly become one of is favourite winter coats..
When I bought my original Schott back in 2021 I hadn’t owned a pea coat for a few years and two things immediately struck me. Firstly I’d forgotten just how stylish this type of coat is and secondly I discovered that there’s a big difference between a slim fit fashion pea coat and a proper one, On face value they look the same but the Schott is much thicker and heavier with a huge collar that’s actually functional and large buttons that are easy to use with thick gloves, it's still quite a smart looking coat but is also rugged and purposeful along with being incredibly warm and easy to wear.
The sizing of the 740N has always baffled me slightly, don’t be surprised if it takes a few attempts to get it right. In the UK and Europe it’s slightly harder to get right because many retailers only offer S, M, L and XL which seem to tally up to a 36, 40, 44 and 48. Luckily the shop I ended up buying from (Mr Porter) had included product measurements so I asked my cousin to take some measurements from his coat and from that I worked out that my normal size large would be the best compromise as I intend to wear it with thick jumpers.
For reference I'm 5ft 9in, 42in chest, 33in waist with wide shoulders and a V shaped torso and it is a bit on the roomy side when worn over a t-shirt, particularly around the waist, but with the material being so thick and sturdy it still sits well with the sleeves finishing just on my knuckles.
But lets be honest, you’re supposed to wear this coat with knitwear and with a nice jumper it’s spot on with enough space that it’s not constricting or difficult to button up, this coat is thicker in real life than it looks in pictures along with being heavy and quite stiff, if you start sizing down in an attempt to get around the boxy shape and make it into a slim fit you can very easily end up with something that may look good in the mirror but is tight and uncomfortable when you wear it in everyday life, now I think about it, my original 740N was probably too small for me from the start.
I have always wanted a Schott Pea Jacket and now I have one. The jacket is extremely comfortable, smart and looks very hard wearing. I cannot wait for winter to come round so I can get it on.
