As advertised in every way. A very fine peacoat and a very fine fit.
I can't recommend Schott's classic pea coat enough. This is the fourth one I've owned in my life of this particular coat. I love them so much I live in them every day until I wear them out and have to buy a new one. It would be a personal disaster if Schott stopped manufacturing this coat. It is versatile enough for most weather. It is airy enough that you don't feel stifled, but it is so well-woven that it's practically water proof and wind proof. It will get you through the coldest northeast winter days, and it looks fantastic with just about any outfit. It's an enduring classic for a reason. Get yourself one, and it will become your go-to coat year after year as well.
Investing in clothing online is not my favorite thing to do, my preference is to try things on. Having an athletic build (6’3” - 220 @ 14% BF), means wide shoulders/narrow waist/long arms. Almost impossible to find shirts & jackets that do not require tailoring. I really appreciated all the reviews that indicted the purchaser’s dimensions, the size they ordered, and the actual fit & function out of the box. The 46 34” Long 740 P/C that arrived 48 hours after ordering it, could not be a more perfect fit for me. The shoulder width is correct, the top shoulder seam perches itself at the end of the deltoid allowing the sleeves to extend past my watch, over the end of my gloves without travelling too far over down my hands. The button pattern creates great arm movement while staying snug & keeping me warm. It is obvious that the artisans who created this P/C are not only highly skilled, but they also care about their craft. I am so impressed with the quality that I told my wife & kids to decide which Schott jacket is the right one for them, so I can ensure everyone stays warm while looking good when the weather turns again. Schott, thank you & keep up the magnificent work.
This is a tank of a coat! Definitely will perform well in cold weather. I’m 6’1” about 195, between a size 41-42 chest size for suits. I read the other reviews about sizing down and I’m glad I did. I purchased the 40 and it fits me really well. And I still have some room for another layer or 2. Totally happy with the purchase!
The euphemism, you get what you pay for, may seem cliche, however, I dare you to buy one of the cheaper pea coats you're most likely shopping for and a Schott pea coat and do a side by side comparison. I put my new Schott coat next to my 15 year old inferior coat, and even though my old coat has sailed countless miles and weathered many abuses and been sewn numerous times, my new Schott coat is much better quality in every way, shape and size. The fit is neat perfect, I'm 6'3" with a 33-34 chest and the 42 long fits with just enough room underneath for a couple layers on the really cold PNW marine mornings. For someone with alien long arms, the sleeve and torso length are a breath of "long enough" air in a world of too short sleeves. The material is heavy and stiff, will take some break in. The stitching and interior seem rugged and built to last. The overall fit of the coat is very slimming and formal. You will get complimented on the look of this coat. My Chilean friend said to me, "muy elegante." Do yourself a favor and get what you pay for, buy one of each, and I guarantee which one you'll be sending back.
I researched for weeks on the most authentic and high quality peacoat on the market. This was it! American made, beautifully cut and fits like a glove based on my chest circumference. Very professional construction. Looking forward to making this a staple of my cold weather wardrobe.
Great coat! Nice and heavy for the cold, still warm even if left unbuttoned. Length is good, happy with the sleeve length as well. Others I’ve worn the sleeves felt too short so when you lift your arms they’d crawl halfway up your forearm, but not with this one. Heavy construction so it has held its shape very well. Feeling like this will be a coat for life.
I have taken this coat out in temps in the teens and I am very pleased with it. It is a warm, quality coat for a good price. The shipping was quick and overall the customer service has been great. I would recommend the 740!
I really love this pea coat. Why? 1. It is USA made. 2. Even the website gave great sizing advice while other web sites sizing was all over the place so I never knew if I needed a medium, large or X large. 3. Arrived in 4 days instead of 2 weeks. 4. Came in a large box carefully folded over once with a hanger rather than rolled up like a ball. 5. Perfect fit and good thick wool. 6. Warmest coat I ever put on. This may cost more but you really do get what you pay for. This pea coat is worth it.
I purchased this coat for a few specific reasons. I needed another Pea Coat. I live in a area where we can get highs below zero and lows as cold as -20 F. Warmth and style is what I was wanting as well as Made In the USA. If they were union employees even better! The craftsmanship and quality of the materials are of the highest quality. My hope is the coat will protect and look great for MANY years.
