Waxed Cotton Deck Jacket

STYLE: 8939

The Schott water resistant Wax canvas Deck jacket is inspired by the original WW11 N1 deck jacket. Like the original it is sherpa lined for an added layer or warmth.

The wax cotton ceck jacket is a warm jacket! The soft sherpa pile and slightly loose fit make it very comfortable. It will certainly become a favorite!

I'm 5'8", 165 lbs and the medium size fit me perfectly. I haven't worn it outside yet because it's summer but it's definitely heavier and warmer than I thought it was going to be. Also, my girlfriend liked the style of it (when I thought she wouldn't). All the Schott products I've purchased have been excellent.

Retired Navy. I wore the A2 deck jacket for warmth on cold days at NAS Alameda. It was lousy, as was most cold weather Navy gear back just after the Vietnam war. And the jacket was ill fitting and falling apart within days of wearing it.

But this jacket. Maybe I could have done another career if I had had this jacket. Very high quality. Not a stitch out of place. Not a military recreation, so you will not look like a poser or some kind of goofball.

Stylish. I am 147 libs, 15.5/33 shirt in slim fit. 39.5 chest, 31 waist. 8" drop. Fits with a warm sweater underneath. Sleeves are nylon lined for easy on and off.

Shell is waxed cotton. For those of you who do not know about this material, it is highly water resistant, and stain resistant. You cannot wash the jacket, but you can treat it with a waxed cotton preserver from Barbour jackets.

It is not shiny, and will develop a nice patina with wear lines. Jacket falls mid hip. Very, very comfortable.

I’m 5’7” and 175 and wear a 16.5/17” - 32/33” dress shirt with a 32-33” waist. The medium fit perfect. The large was 2 large. Easy exchange done all online and mail.

Love the waxed cotton , it’s very warm, inner pocket , has zipper and buttons. The neck can be folded up for more neck coverage. It’s not a middle of winter jacket but can handle say low 40’s?

    Great quality.

This is not a replica of the U.S. Navy's N1 Deck Jacket.
The shell is not "jungle cloth." It's a tough, waxed canvas or cotton that is amazingly comfortable.
The lining is not alpaca. It's "sherpa" cotton, also amazingly comfortable, instead.
It is not stenciled on the left breast with "U.S. Navy." It has two flap-closure patch pockets on the breasts instead.
This is not a replica, but I wasn't looking to be in a re-enactment of a World War II naval engagement.
I was looking for a warm jacket for modern mid-western winters, resistant to wet weather and comfortable into the 20s (Fahrenheit) with a light sweater.
And that's what I found in this jacket.
The N1 Deck Jacket has experienced something of a fashion revival over the past several years for good reason. It offers a clean, iconic and utilitarian look that stands up to rough treatment and buttons up snug; and so does the Schott Waxed Cotton Deck Jacket.
Its overall line is the same. Its collar has the same distinctive look and feel. Like the N1, its tough shell seals tightly up the front with a zipper behind a buttoned wind-flap closure. And, like the N1, it offers its wearer warm, deep hand pockets.
It's a great jacket that's earned every star. It has, IMHO, successfully captured the rugged functionality and look of the original in updated, but still traditional, materials better suited to the civilian market. Which is to say: It Works for Me!
As to fit: I followed the "Fit Guide" for the "Standard" fit. That provided me a comfortable fit that easily accommodates a sweater underneath without looking bulky, with or without the sweater.

This is a great looking coat with a timeless look to it. I went by the sizing chart and the size ordered was perfect. It has a nice warm lining that will be great for commuting. I took off one star for this reason : It cannot be dry cleaned or machine washed. The outside can only be wiped down with a sponge and cold water. If I had known this I may have made a different decision. What I will probably do is give the coat a good airing out at the end of the season. But that all being said, I do really like the coat and will enjoy wearing it. Also, speedy free delivery and great customer service.
