I guess this appears to be the “black sheep” of the Schott NYC catalog (despite that it’s actually brown). The company doesn’t seem to have much to say about this jacket aside from telling you that it’s cowhide and what it’s lined with. No background on the style, no details on how the leather is finished, or anything else… at least as of the day this was written.
Anyway, I was in the market for a brown leather jacket, and the simple, understated style of this one drew me in. Looking at it upon arrival, (shipped very quickly, btw), I just wasn’t that impressed with the leather quality. It had a decent heft, which I liked, but I didn’t care for the fact that it was nubuck (the website didn’t mention this). It crinkled easily and even had black dots on the left sleeve. I understand these are natural blemishes and/or inconsistencies in the hide, but I shouldn’t expect that for a price tag that surpasses $1,000.
Again, I really like the style of this lined trucker, but maybe Schott could release it in a full-grain *finished* leather, maybe like what’s used on the 688, and *not* another nubuck or roughout leather like on the other variants.
