    HIGH END LEATHER JACKET

I would like to start with how unmotivated the New York store staff was towards me as a customer when I decided to call and ask a few questions regarding the details of this jacket specifically if its sizing. The first person was annoyed right away and citing lack of time, he told me to rather come directly to the store and to try the jacket personally. To my hasty argument that it would take me about 7 hours to get to New York, he replied that it would be better than trying to make my choice over the phone. There was no chance of sending additional photos of this jacket via email. When asked to measure the width, he reluctantly did so and categorically advised me to take the size Large. I tried to express my doubts - I gave him my body measurements (chest 44 inches) he being irritated, repeated again - "Large".- that what I would need. So, later I decided to push my luck and call that store again. The second person I spoke to was not motivated either. He basically put me back on line with the previous individual. I was pretty discouraged by such an experience and almost decided to have dropped the whole idea of buying this jacket. Then it occurred to me to call another store (in Los Angeles) and the experience of dealing with a salesman was much better. The latter had confirmed my doubts and suggested to go with the size XL. That's what I bought.
Now, about the jacket. The quality is a top notch. Heavy duty, high quality leather. Perfect stitching. I tried to wear it when it was about 52 F outside and that was a little bit too warm for the jacket's design. My guess, the best temperature range for it would be 35-48 F.

My suggestion for SCHOTT is to add more details describing the jacket (video would be nice).

For the buyers: this is an expensive jacket, but it's worth it. It might feel somewhat tight in the shoulders, but it is not terrible. The sleeves seem to be a little too long, but after the leather will develop creases there should be no issue. The leather is very stiff and thick (initially), which is good for the type of the jacket. The zippers are excellent, heavy-duty. The depths of the pockets are adequate. The inner lining is pretty thick cotton material and feels good.

GREAT RACING JACKET IN THE WORLD!!!

Compared to other double racing jackets, it has a more elegant and neat design, and I especially love the rear design of the jacket. Some say that the cutouts are less valuable. I think they are much better in terms of design and practicality. The leather on the jacket was also the best horsehide, and the tights were not too tight and never too loose. I almost liked everything, but what's a little disappointing is that the detail of the sewing is a little bit unfortunate. There are a few stitches that stick out. FYI, I am 5ft 8in tall, with a chest circumference of 42in, weight of 183pounds, and the jacket is a medium size

    LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

I live in the nyc area, as soon as I saw the Schott newsletter announcing this i knew i needed to go in and check this bad boy out. And man it was truly a love at first sight. Even among all the other amazing jackets at the Schott store, this just stood out as something special. Everything about this jacket just screams 'art', the leather (of course, the Shinki horsehide is the center piece of this thing, it's buttery soft yet thick, the texture is crazy), the workmanship, the hardware, the smell, the lining. I couldn't let go of just how cool this thing was and knew I had to get it. I'm 5'11", 180lbs athletic build with a 40" chest, the medium fits me with room for a hoody underneath, but also works with a tee. I'm a size 42 in the 613SH and 40 if I'm going for a slim fitting suit. If i didn't need the movement for riding a bike, a small probably would've also worked (with a tee only), but that would've been a truly slim fit.

One critique i have (but not enough to deter me from getting this) is, at this price point, a 1-piece back would've been nice. I know the vertical 'line' on the back is actually a pleat to help with movement, but in practice it doesn't work as well as a bi-swing back - I intend to ride in this jacket and the shoulders do ride up a lot when i put my hands on my handlebars. And the pleat creates a visual break on the back that doesn't align with something that costs this much, I can't help but wonder if the center pleat design is a way of cost saving. But again not a deal breaker for me to not get this thing, this is a badass jacket and a work of art in every other regard.

Oh one more heads up, the color in some areas does rub off easily when it's brand new, i wore a Schott sweater underneath for the first outing and some black rubbed off on it, I had to do an emergency wash which was a hassle, so wipe off the jacket inside and out with a damp cloth just to be safe.

The very friendly and helpful staff at the shop did tell me, anything Shinki is going to fly off the shelf, and they only have several made in each size. if you are on the fence about this, don't wait :)
