This jacket is straight-up badass. The attention to detail is amazing. It FEELS like leather b/c its really is. No shortcuts taken. Heavy duty buttons, stitching, etc.
I put it on and even I look like a supermodel out of The Departed. Supercool, supergreat , ready for the cool temps to roll in.
I have been keen on this jacket for a long time. Now that it was half the price, there was no reason not to order it. I still have to pay attention to customs and VAT. I also own a 530 in black, a mission in brown and now the informer in black. What I like about the Informer is the light weight, the soft, deep black leather and the longer, more casual "Al Pacino at work" style. The collar is great when it's windy. Ex- & interior is very nice. The suggestion would be at least a closable inner pocket in addition to the existing one and a flap for hanging. The jacket fits me perfectly in M in a T shirt for summer nights. And with a scarf, sweater and gloves, it is still comfortable to wear even without an inner lining up to 5 degrees Celsius. So very versatile. Cool smock.
First off, this jacket is cut perfect for someone looking for slim fit (not super slim), the only knock is I think it should have a satin lining, that would make it alot easier to get on/off. For reference, I am 6'3", 220lbs with 44" chest/32" waist and I bought a large size. (but I like a slim cut) For the money this is a great jacket!
This jacket is top quality.
It is thin, as it says with no liner whatsoever. But that's fine. Because the leather is great. Design is great. Like in the picture.
Assistance with purchase through internet was provided for by Schott.
I've long since been a fan of chore coats (I own several) and am a long time fan of Schott. So when this was released recently I was very interested indeed. The only thing that slightly put me off was the fact that this jacket is unlined. However as soon as I saw it in the sale I decided to take the plunge and I am very happy indeed! The jacket which I purchased in colour Brown & size L is just as rugged and practical as any decent chore coat should be (riveted pockets, shank buttons, inside patch pocket etc) but has that super leather coolness that only Schott/Perfecto can provide. The weight and fact that it is unlined makes the jacket ideal for layering and it can be dressed up say with a dress shirt or dressed down with a T or Sweat Shirt. And if it gets cold you could even layer a lined shirt or wool Pendleton underneath making it very versatile. The unlined suede inside does make the jacket a little bit harder to pull on/slide off but you soon get used to it. All in all if your in half a mind about getting one for yourself I say do it, for at $400 a pop they'll soon be gone and you'll regret missing out on one!
There are leather jackets, and then there is Schott. This is an outstanding premium leather jacket (that looks beautiful inside too), and I have no doubt it will develop a beautiful patina.
nice leather looks great the arms are a little narrow
but a perfect jacket for the fall or rainy days
This is my first "real" leather jacket. I've owned second hand ones of dubious quality as well as jackets from fashion brands, but nothing is like the real thing!
First off, yeah, I bought this because it was on sale. I liked the look but it wasn't my first choice. I don't exactly have 800 bucks to drop on a jacket though, you know? I was apprehensive about it being unlined, but figured I could send it back... well, I won't be sending it back. The inside is soft buttery suede. On cool nights, putting it on feels like sliding into a big pat of butter.
The exterior leather smelled wonderful right out of the box; it is nice and thin, but wonderfully soft and supple. It does not look at all "cheap" and I imagine it will break in beautifully. Classic look that I can wear for years. Being unlined means I can layer it up or down for cooler or warmer days. Recommend!
This unlined leather jacket is a soft supple leather that is the lightest weight of the several Schott NYC leather coats in my wardrobe. This is a slightly longer length than a typical moto style jacket, and it does a nice job of covering a sweater or untucked shirt that otherwise tends to hang out the bottom of a typical waist-length jacket. My only suggestion for the designers at Schott is to consider lining the sleeves with a slick lightweight lining. The unlined leather has a in the fairly narrow sleeves has a tendency to grab a knit shirt or sweater and pull it up the arm unless you make a point of holding onto the shirt cuff with your hand when putting on the jacket. Nonetheless, I'm very happy with this coat and would recommend it highly.
