Very nice, supple, shiny, smooth grain HH leather. I’m 21, 150-155 lbs, size 38ish chest 30 waist. I wanted a slim fit an the size guide was spot on. I ordered a small.
This is my 2nd Schott Jacket I have owned. My 1st was a 118 Perfecto that was a wedding gift from my wife that was purchased at the San Francisco Store. I am originally from NYC and had always wanted to visit the store there. While on a recent trip to New York, I decided I needed to check it out. I was in luck that I literally arrived the day after these guys had just moved to their new location in Manhattan, missing a great party the night prior. I have been wanting a Horse Hide Type 2 styled jacket for years, and specifically one from Japan, due to the reputation of them being the finest made Shinki Horse Hide leather jackets in the world. Unfortunately for me I am 6'5" tall and weigh just North of 255lbs. Every Japanese jacket that I ever had the luxury of trying on was a fit in the length and the arms but I couldn't button it closed🤣😂. Also they were always minimally around $1700-$2500. I walked into the store actually knowing that they allegedly had a 2XL in stock after seeing it on the website. The jacket on the rack only went up to an XL and upon seeing that my heart kind of sank. I asked one of the guys at the front if they had a 2XL and he ran down and grabbed me one. The minute I had it on I knew it was mine. The fit was perfect, and I could close the buttons in front without sucking in my stomach. That was about 2 weeks ago and I have since worn it out on a few occasions here in San Francisco thanks to the cooler temps. I have never had so many compliments on its style and the smell of it of all things. I cannot wait to have it break in more and start to show a lifetime of wear and patina. I love this thing.
I procrastinated for months and months because of distance (not being able to try it on), freight costs and import duties. finally I decided to fly to New York for a short break. I went down and tried on this Jacket. It is perfect! The fit is better than tailored jackets I have had made. Perfect in every aspect, sleeves are correct for both walking around and riding a motor cycle or car. Chest and waist are bang on and it hits right on the belt line like a design from this era should. Leather is of supreme quality and stitching is tough and immaculate. Whoever cut and sewed my jacket is a master craftsperson, thank you. now that it's breaking in you should see the grain and lines, magnificent. buttons and studs on the Type 2 pockets are 1st class metal and I can't see how they would ever pop off as some have said. My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner.
Palpable quality and a very cool look and fit. I am 5'10, 185 lbs, 33 waist with a athletic build and the jacket in L fits as it should for this cut not too loose. Needs some breaking in.
Phenomenal quality. 5ft8in, 190 punds, moderately athletic build, large fit perfectly. Leather is fairly thick and will be stiff at first, wear it as much as possible and it softens after about 2 weeks. Excellent jacket, get compliments all the time.
I'm 6'00' and 190 lbs. I have a 43' chest and a 34' waist. I have a muscular build. I ordered the large because I wanted to be able to wear more than a t-shirt underneath and it fits perfectly. I have to break the leather in a bit more to make buttoning it up easier. It's a little difficult right now while the leather is so rigid but I suspect it will soften quickly. Love it.
Great leather! It's breaking in perfectly. Took some new leather yoga to break it in, but very happy with the jacket. I agree, it'll probably last a lifetime. Thanks guys!
Bought this jacket specifically for riding my motorcycle. The quality and thickness of the horsehide is perfect for motorcycling and you feel well protected from the elements. The design of this jacket is unique and that's one of the reasons I decided to purchase it. Had some issues with the buttons coming off but Schott sent me some extra ones to have them replaced by a leather jacket specialist here in Montreal. The owner of that boutique actually told me this is a jacket will last me a lifetime because of it's outstanding quality.
