I was very disappointed to see Schott no longer puts the American flag tag in their 618hh. All this talk and hype about being an American icon and they remove the Old Glory tag from their jackets? What gives? It is replaced with a "made of USA and imported materials" tag. This is VERY upsetting to me.
On to the reason I gave it a 2 star rating Instead of a 1.
The jacket arrived in 2 days as expected. Customer service was very helpful. The Quality of the jacket is great. This is a SERIOUS motorcycle jacket. This is NOT a fashion jacket. Don't complain about longer sleeves, underarm footballs, and stiff leather. Schott makes poser jackets for that. This jacket is made to throw a leg over a shovelhead and see where it takes you.
I am 5'10" and 200lbs. I have a 44" chest and I ordered a 46. I have plenty of room to layer and I might have been able to get away with a 44, not sure. The 46 fits pretty good.
I would return this great MOTORCYCLE jacket, but I didn't notice the missing flag until after I removed the tags from the jacket. Do the RIGHT thing Schott, BRING BACK THE FLAG!!!!
Response from Schott NYC: First and foremost we are happy that you like the jacket. We wish we could put the American flag in this particular jacket too, but since there is no source for horsehide in the USA we need to import the horsehide from Italy. As a result we must call it Made in USA of imported materials. If you want a Made in USA jacket we make this same exact jacket in USA steerhide style 618 or USA naked cowhide style 118. From time to time we have Made in USA horsehide jackets from a USA tannery, but these are only available on a limited basis.
The 618 HH is a phenomenal classic motorcycle jacket. The quality is unsurpassed. However, I ordered my usual jacket size 38 instead of going up a size as recommended. The jacket was too tight. I'm in the process of doing an exchange, and decided to go with the 603 Cafecto. Slightly less heavy but still the classic lines. I'm looking forward to getting it! Customer service was excellent, too!
This is my 3rd leather jacket I’ve purchased from Schott. It is my absolute favorite! The quality is amazing as always. I just wish the sleeves were a inch shorter on my coat, then it would be perfect. You definitely won’t regret your purchase!
I’ve had many asymmetrical biker jackets in the past but have had many complaints about quality of leather, durability and overall aesthetic. This horsehide perfecto is just that - perfect in all those categories. I’ve only received it a week or so ago and the leather will take at least a few months to break in. But I’m dedicated to the process, and once it does it’s gonna be a perfect leather jacket that’ll last a lifetime with minimal maintenance. Might even outlive me!!
I’m 5’11 and 130 pounds and I usually wear a 38. I know it was recommended to size up but being a skinny dude I stuck with my size and was not disappointed. I can wear it with a t-shirt or layer up with a light sweater.
Cheers from New Jersey!!
There is not much to say about it but that : BAD ASS. It'a above my expectations. Beware of one thing about its sizing : It's recommended to take one size up as it is slim fit, but I disagree. I am a size 38-40, I wanted slim fit and that's what I got with 38. It's not snug wearing a t-shirt, and wearing a hoodie is possible while not feeling constricted. To me, it's slim/true to size. Besides that, It' shinny beautiful, see-my-butt short and smells awsome.
It's truly beautiful. The leather has a rich deep shine to it; the hardware is bright and sturdy. It's very stiff and heavy, which is what I wanted. I'm interested to see what it will be like when it's more broken in. A year ago, I nearly bought something in the 400-500 range made of lambskin from another company but I'm glad I held out for a heavy duty material from SNY. Keep saving and make the long term investment if you're worried about the price.
I'm 5'11, 185 with short legs, long torso, medium build. I bought it for casual wear and not for riding. I tried on some of the 26" models, including the 626 and the PER22 at the New York shop but both were a little too long (my buddy has the Per22 and it looks great but he's 3 inches taller than me). I think with my build, I needed something a little shorter that would hit me right at the waist--enter the 25" 618.
I don't know what made me go with the horsehide but I wanted something distinctive and it seemed to fit the bill. As soon as I opened the package, I knew I had made a good choice. I had never tried this one on so I was flying a little blind but a size 40 (I'm a 38 suit) was just right--snug but able to be layered with a hoodie, down liner, or sweater.
Don't think twice about it if you're on the fence.
looking for a great classic biker jacket Schott is the real deal. They've been making motorcycle jackets since 1928 and they're still going strong, with today's competitive business environment you know they're doing something right. Aside from nostalgia their jackets are made of high quality leather and sewn together with real craftsmanship. I am a perfectionist and did exchange my first jacket for minor things most would not even consider imperfections with leather but customer service was a pleasure to deal with and they sent me a great replacement jacket. I own 5 other leather jackets and this one is really awesome, still needs to be broke in but fits perfect and looks killer. I highly recommend considering Schott if your looking for a high quality American classic leather jacket you won't be disappointed.
This jacket says a thousand words, when I first seen one in the chicago flagship store and learned about the horsehide, I knew I needed one in my life. I’ve owned a schott perfecto 618 36 steerhide forever and loved it. But I would have to say the horsehide is better for your money. Plus my 36 was to tight to zip up with a hoodie or crewneck. Love the style/cut of the horsehide because it’s the same as my old one, just newer. I’m 5’10 145Lb 29y and I fit into a 38, still really snug and can wear hoodies and long sleeves now, love this jacket and the shine too it!!
Bought this in Size 38
Chest is 38.5", Height 72", Weight 130 lbs
I have a long torso and skinny legs. I work out but not with heavy weights.
This Cut fits perfectly in the Chest and Shoulders/Arms, if you want a "Fashion" Fit, get your actual Chest Size, don't Size up. My only dislike is the Back Length, it's SOOOOO short. And since I have a long torso, it looks even shorter.
If I sized up to 40, it would be 25" instead of 24" which would be better, although 26" would be optimal, but the shoulders and sleeves wouldn't have that perfect fit any more. And the Sweep would be a bit too baggy. So pick your poison really.
Then again, if you wear the Jacket un-zipped always, it looks perfect, even with the short length.
So my rating is 4 instead of 5. Schott should make this exact same Cut but with 1 or 2 inch longer Back length, for skinny taller people.
Because I have tried on 519 and 626 but they were both too baggy, but the length was good.
The Leather is beautiful, and has this fragrance that is so strong but very intoxicating.
I waited 3 weeks for my size to be made. It was worth the wait.
It looks just like the picture.
I love the shine and the fit.
Its the real deal.
