Great jacket, great fit, great quality. I love this jacket !
First off, like others have noted, the leather on this jacket looks completely different than the picture. It is a little darker, more "brown", and more of a soft, matte finish. It reminds me of the leather from an old, broken-in bomber/flight jacket. I actually like it better than what is shown. It's still thick and tough, like all Schotts, but very soft, and feels already broken in. I'm 5' 9" with a large chest and shoulders, and kind of a small waist, and the large fits me perfectly - just enough room in the shoulders, without being too big around the middle. As always, the craftsmanship and details are top-notch. Like I said in the title, Schott never disappoints.
As others have said, darker leather than pictured and with a rough “vintaged” finish. Mine also had wide variations in texture, with thick, rough leather in some parts and thin, crinkly, shiny leather in others. Caused problems with the bi-swing back as the texture mismatch made it wrinkle and get stuck a lot. I don’t need perfect uniformity but this was a bit too much and the leather just did not look very nice to me.
Size-wise I am 5’10”, 170 lbs, 41” chest, 18” shoulders, and the medium was a decent but not perfect fit. Perfect amount of room in the chest and abdomen but just a little tight in the shoulders. The bi-swing back made it possible to move my arms around but it was not a clean look as the “wings” were popped out unless I kept my arms down. Stepping up to a Large would have been too huge, I think, even if the shoulders would fit better.
Great build quality as expected although the white ID tag is in an unfortunate spot, right at the opening of the left slash pocket, so it’s visible all the time. Buckles felt kind of dinky as well. Overall though I liked this jacket and would have kept it if not for the unpleasant leather.
I was expecting a tan jacket, but the jacket is a very dark brown. It's still a nice jacket, fits great, but I'm a little disappointed they didn't inform me the only color choice was *not* the color in the picture.
This is a great, high quality leather jacket. Unfortunately, it is a far darker brown than what is pictured; I had to return mine because I'm looking for a tan jacket and customer service told me they only have the darker model available. However, if you're ok with this and like the style, I'd highly recommend the 508. The quality of fit and finish is exactly what I'd expect from a Schott!
Perfect jacket, fit me like glove. The color is more
brownish than orangish.I have ordered size large
I am 5"8" 175lbs.The leader is good quality and
the work is great.Very happy with it. Thanks
Love, Love, Love this jacket!
Great fit & comfort,; so stylish
I love the styling of this jacket. It is not too bulky in the waist. The collar/lapel is really nice. The picture shows a tan color. That must be the reflection from the lights. It actualy looks darker in person and gets a nice lighter brown color in the sun. 5'9 170 and wear a medium.
I would advise shoppers that my jacket did not have the lustrous shine as the jacket in the website photos. My jacket does have a softer touch, like a distant relative of suede. It's a heavy jacket, but it feels like its broken in straight out of the box. After a week of wear it is already developing a character of its own. I wore it to Las Vegas in January during high temps of 65 and evening lows in high 40s and low 50s. It was perfect with a t-shirt or button up shirt. I like the fact that it is a motorcycle jacket in style but streamlined for greater versatility--no belt, no lapels, no extra pockets. The color also is great to have a touch of rock and roll without putting all your eggs in that basket. This is my first Schott, definitely won't be my last. I'm 6'1" and 215 lbs. XL fits me perfectly.
I was looking for something a little classic looking and was drawn to the 508 but Schott was out of my size. I located one from another site at the same price so that made the decision easier.
First off I am 180, 6ft with longish arms and the LG fits me great .Some may want a slightly closer fit but it suits me.. The finish is not as shiny ,but that is a plus for me as I don't really care for a real waxy look. I thought a med weight would be lighter but at 4.5lbs is no where close to the 8lb 141 I once had. I think the cotton liner will breathe a little better than a 100% polyester one and the slash pockets are roomy and functional.Only bummer is we are headed into summer and I wont get to break it in as much. Some may turn their noses up at the label stating the use of imported materials but that is to be expected nowadays for manufacturers to stay competitive. The 508 is top notch to my eyes and I don't care where the cow lived. The biggest problem with deciding on a style is there are always things from other models that you may prefer.I could do without sleeve zippers and side buckles, but someone riding everyday would probably prefer them. And when you find one with all the things you like, it may have a cut that does not work for you. There are always trade offs,
