Jacket purchased: Schott 626 size M
I was a little unsure about how the medium fit at first but it really is true to size accurate. The 626, although lightweight compared to other jackets available, I feel is still pretty sturdy despite being so flexible. It is definitely on the slimmer side as far as leather jackets go, but it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm glad I made the decision to purchase this jacket as I feel it will last me a VERY long time.
Ordered my first Schott jacket, a S for my lean fit 6 foot, 70kg body and it fits like a glove, literally a perfect wrap all over as if it was custom made.
Then I discovered the quality of the leather on the back patch of the two forearms was not great. Returned it and Schott exchanged it quickly with no fuss for another and it was perfect.
Great work Schott, definitely will order again in the future.
Im a chest size 40, i ordered a M and it fit
Its light, i can move around perfectly, feels great. I had tried the 613sh on size 40 but it felt too tight, my shoulder even hurt.
But this one is great, where i live doesnt get super cold so the light weight its ok here, i can add a sweatshirt and if feels good too.
Also since its not that super warn im gonna be able tonwear it on cool nights as well no need to wait for winter.
I love punk rock and metal so i needed this.
The jacket arrived in timely fashion. As advertised, the jacket is a slimmer fit. Recently wore the jacket on a very cold day with just a medium weight sweater. The jacket kept me plenty warm. Very satisfied with my purchase. The endless compliments were a pretty nice bonus
First off I want to say a big THANK YOU to Jerri in Customer Service, she was a great resource during my research and purchase. I purchased the 626 with a two fold purpose. I ride a Harley Davidson and wanted to use this for riding as well as for a fashion addition to my wardrobe. I live in Southern California and it gets and stays pretty warm. I wanted a Perfecto that did not have a heavy liner inside. I went to the SchottNYC store in Los Angeles where I was able to try on the full line of Perfectos and selected the 626. I had the sleeves tailored by SchottNYC (perfect job). The 626 out of the box fit slightly snug, but was never stiff or hard, I have been wearing for riding out here as we can ride year around with our weather. It is breaking in (minimal break in required) nicely. The 626 is built like a tank, you can see and feel the quality of its construction. I am a retired Police Officer who can appreciate good leather goods (wore them everyday for 28 years).
I love my new jacket. It was immediately lucky as I won 500$ the first time I wore it. It fits great. I’m 5’9” (150lbs) and wear a medium. The medium was perfect. The Leather is very nice and I like the sticking and quality. I’m still breaking it in of course. I also have some items that match with it very well. I may get one in Black also. I’m so happy with Schott. Thy are a great American brand. Most of the items I buy now are from North America and are hand made. I really feel like I’m getting more value even though they are pricy. I have received many compliments on my 626. The fit and feel is amazing. I am planning on ordering the 571. I love this jacket and can’t take it off. It literally is my “second skin.” The leather broke in quickly. This is a year around Jacket it’s also powerful and will transform you! It has converted me to a Schott customer!
I'll start of by saying, well worth the money and meets almost all my expectations. I bought the 626 in brown XL. I'll split my review into three parts.
The Good: Absolutely amazing quality in leather and you really cannot beat the style and beauty that Schott produces. The 626 is comfy and is very easy to move in, I have a big back on a muscular frame and the bi-swing back helps so much. I used to own a 629 and decided to sell it for this one. By far the best choice I have ever made. Not that the 629 was bad, far from it but it was definitely nowhere near as mobile as the 626. I'm not a biker but I want to be in the near future and I think with the mobility factor this will feel comfortable on the bike, though it's not padded or as thick as some biker jackets, I think it will be perfect for a heat sensitive guy like me.
The Bad: The main reason I wanted to switch to the 626 from the 629 was because the 629 didn't have side pockets. But, the side pockets on this one are pretty useless for me anyways. I can't fit my hands into them and they are positioned quite far back on the jacket so reaching for them is kinda awkward. It's just not a very comfortable or functional position/size of the pockets for me. Also, I feel like the inside pocket is on the wrong side. It's on the left side. It makes sense in the way that you can get easier access to it with the jacket zipped up. But because the outer chest pocket is on the left side as well, it is just a weird choice in my opinion. My last disappointment is with the liner, I expected the plaid liner to be in the arms. It's not, it's a brown fabric. It's not that big of a deal but it is rather just one of those things that seems like a cop out.
The Beware: I made the mistake of listening to some of the reviews on sizing up. I ordered a XXL initially, it did fit nice but it was noticeably bigger in the shoulders and arms. After getting to wear both sizes, I can definitively say that the only thing slim fitting or different about the 626 is the mid section. Everything else fits like a regular jacket, the arms, the shoulders and the chest all fit true to my size which is an XL. The belly area is what's tight but even then it's not that tight. I have a bit of a gut going on right now and I can still zip it up. I'm not going to make the mistake of giving any advice in my review though. When it comes down to it everybody's body is different in many ways and it's going to be up to you to figure out your best option. I think the information can help though as long as you do it smartly, which I did not. TAKE PROPER MEASUREMENTS!!! And you will not be disappointed in this jacket!
After years of debating, thinking of the costs, I finally pulled the trigger. What I had in mind didn't exactly match reality, a few blind spots I hope to share.
I did not buy the jacket so much for function but style. Upon trying it on out of the box the material was obviously excellent, but for me at 5`11 185 athletic and broad shoulders the arms were too long and too thick for my taste, as well as the back. Reading online I fell under the impression that leather 'shrinks and expands' with you uniquely so I said what the hell and cut the tags off.
Do not cut the tags off even if you think you're in 100%. I emailed Schott about my dilemma and did not receive a response; understandably so.
I had the jacket tailored in the arms and it looks much better, but i'm holding out on tailoring the length because in regards to design and the belt loops it's a tricky area.
Really research if this is a big spend for you. Know what purpose you're getting it for, what kind of leather, and if you're picky get it custom made. Reviews can be misleading when it comes to 'shrinking and stretching, breaking in', i recommend just ignoring that kind of bad advice.
I'm an anxious person and I don't really recommend leather jackets until you get that sorted out. All things considered design and material Schott is exceptional.
I looked at a lot of jackets, including other Schott's, and am glad I chose this one. Living in Florida, the heavier ones would only see limited use. This one is good for cool to even warmer days, and can still serve as a fall/winter jacket outside of Florida.
I debated about what sometimes appears in pictures as the thinness of the leather and the somewhat shiny appearance but in fact, the leather is quite substantial and has a nice heft to it. Likewise the shine is very slight--not as dull as the matte of the 118 but not nearly as shiny as say horsehide. Of course like all Schott's the quality of the leather is outstanding.
Regarding fit, I'm 6 ft with 46in chest, so went with the XL, which fits just right. I'm a bit too, as "seasoned" to go for the really close fitting tighter jackets, but find this one roomy enough but not boxy or bulky.
Finally, the Schott experience--from getting the right size to delivery, was flawless. As I wear the jacket I am also appreciating the incredible quality control and attention to detail Schott provides. Their products are well worth the price.
