    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

Our classic café racer is a true four season riding jacket. Customer demand has kept this design in constant production for over forty years. We know you will agree that it is our most versatile leather jacket! The Model 141 leather jackets for men are made with U. S. sourced, chrome-tanned, drum dyed, heavyweight naked leather. This hide has a softer "hand" when compared to our steerhide and a matte finish. It is chrome tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners. Right out of the box this jacket will feel like it was custom made for you.

Schott NYC uses heavyweight naked cowhide to help your leather jacket become your "second skin". Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. For wind protection and added warmth the 141 features an inside wind flap under the main zipper, a zip out pile lining and zippered sleeve cuffs. Our bi-swing back panels and under arm footballs ensures that this jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition started in the late 1920’s, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the model 141. Available in both regular and long sizes we often suggest this model for our taller customers. Offered in sizes 32 to 54 in regular and 36 to 54 in long we are confident one of these regularly stocked sizes will fit. Schott sells this leather jacket model true to size, if you wear a 42 suit jacket simply order a size 42 and you will even have room for a sweatshirt underneath for those colder days. Of course this is just our best recommendation, as always we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit.

The Schott Model #141 is still proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

The Cafe Racer leather jacket design that became mainstream in the 1960's was developed in England. As soldiers were returning home after WWII they caught the bug of souping up older, prewar motorbikes. These motorcycles were raced between local pubs and cafes which created the need for a streamlined, minimalist leather racing jacket. Traveling at times in excess of 100 MPH was a fairly dangerous proposition on the roads that were more like trails at the time. Heavy horsehide and of course a strong main zipper added a certain level of protection for these speed happy daredevils. One would imagine there were wagers made and records set during these early cafe racing days.

Schott Brothers has produced a café racer leather motorcycle jacket since we produced model 666 RS for Beck in 1956. It was called a "Leather Racing Shirt" and cost $28.95 at the time. Schott also marketed our own racing jacket as the model 641XX. In the early days these leather jackets had symmetrical zippered pockets on the chest, an adjustable snap collar strap and zippered sleeve cuffs. As they were worn and abused many examples found today are missing any signs of the original inside linings.

Rooted in tradition, the Schott Model 141 continues this cafe racer style from the 50's. Based on these early leather motorcycle jacket café racer designs the 141 has changed ever so slightly. We feel our updates have made a legendary design better and even more versatile. Schott continues production of the Café Racer motorcycle jacket style, as always, right here in the U.S.A, with a Schott family member hands on in the factory every single day.

This is my second Schott jacket. I purchased the brown one and at night, it looks black. The leather is stiff and smells great. The smell will fill up a room. I'm 5'6, 195 ib, chest size 42, waist size 32, and the sleeve length hits right below the wrist bone. My proportions and weight are unusual for my height, but I lift weights and work out a lot. I opted for the size 42 and the fit is great, looks like it was made for me. The quality of the jacket far exceeds any other brand and brands I see other people wear. People who know nothing about leather jackets knows this one is of quality. My wife is very picky, but she likes this look. First time wearing this, I received many hard stares from women in front of their partners, kind of like a treat to a eager dog. Not even exaggerating. Older women, perhaps 50+, have approached me with compliments while younger women just stare from a distance. Interactions with other men happen more often when I wear this, but the conversation stops when they are told about the price. So, this has led me to believe that this jacket is widely accepted by many people. I understand why this is one of their best sellers. The jacket makes me feel more desirable to women and more respected by men. I typically wear this with a fitted button up or t-shirt, indigo denim jeans or tan khakis, and the waxy flesh Cacao Premier High Top sneaker from Thursday Boots. The coldest I've worn this jacket is 35 degrees here in upstate NY, and was relatively warm. I have warmer jackets but this one is warm enough with base layers, gloves and a beanie.

Sure, you could go on ebay and buy someone else's sloppy seconds and spend time restoring it. Sure, you could play the lottery at Schott's annual factory sale and get a good deal on defective but still functional items. You can do that, it's perfectly fine, but I personally think it is best to ALWAY pay full price for something that is of quality and never look for handouts or go the free meal route. $885 (tax included) is expensive for a jacket, but we must understand that this is a luxury item. Sure, most people won't know the difference between a factory sale item, a second hand ebay item or a brand new full retail item, but you will. Sorry son, but when I die put my 141 in my grave, your not wearing it.

Very nice jacket, excellent fit and really nice leather, but jacket is a little heavier than I thought it would be. For me the most important aspect of a leather jacket is the fit, you want to be comfortable without it being too loose, so buying this online is very tricky especially if you haven't bought anything from the brand before.
I'm have a 37inch chest and 31 waist and couldn't decide between a 36 or 38. Schott's website recommends 36 for a snug fit which is what I wanted so placed an order for the 36. After placing the order, I hesitated a bit and was going to ask Schott to change the size for my order and asked for some advice via email. I got a prompt response from Schott and they sent me the full spec sheet for the jacket with all the measurements which was really helpful. I compare the measurements with another leather jacket that I owned and decided to stick with 36. When I got the jacket and tried it on for the first time, the fit was spot on! It fits perfectly snug and comfortable with enough room for a hoodie underneath. I've worn it for a couple of weeks now and it feels even better as it's starting to break in a bit more.

Classic Racer Leather Motorcycle Jacket, #141: This jacket is hands down the finest article of clothing I have ever owned or had the pleasure of wearing. Every detail is done with quality and care.

I used the Fit Guide and went with recommended sizing, and the jacket fits perfectly - on and off the bike. This jacket will last a lifetime, and most likely passed on to a lucky someone in the future.

Thank you Schott, for making such high quality items.

I'm not what I can say about this jacket that hasn't already been said. I've owned several Schott jackets and have loved every one of them, but this one tops them all. The fit, the style, and the quality are all outstanding. I was having a hard time choosing between black and brown and I eventually chose brown. The color is so dark and rich I thought it was black when I first took it out of the box. It's beautiful.

I had a Schott Perfecto in my teens through my late twenties until I outgrew it, and passed it on to a friend, who's son is now wearing it.
As someone who rides, I needed a good fitting leather jacket, and one that would last. The fit, craftsmanship of Schott Jackets is unsurpassed. I know that this jacket will outlast me, and I will pass it down to the next generation..
Yeah, they're expensive, but think of it not as an expense, but as an investment.

This jacket is beautiful and the sizing recommendations on the website were spot on perfect. I’m 5’ 10” 157 pounds average slim build, and wanted a slim fitting jacket. Size 38 was awesome fitting for what I wanted. Leather was soft and smooth out of the box, and you couldn’t ask for a nicer finish. I bought mine in brown, and it is a very dark brown with buttons and zippers trimmed out in a gold tone. If you want a leather with more of a brown tone, you may want to look at one of Schott’s other style jackets, because this one is extremely dark. It’s highly rated for a reason!
