    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

We consider the Model 118 as a close cousin to our popular Model 618 with just a few differences. Perfecto® Model 118 leather jackets for men are made with U. S. sourced, chrome-tanned, drum dyed, heavyweight naked leather. This hide has a softer "hand" when compared to our steerhide and a matte finish. It is chrome tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners. Right out of the box this jacket will feel like it was custom made for you. This Perfecto® model 118 motorcycle jacket was designed and built for the long haul, the short ride, and everything in between. Not recommended for those who are looking to just blend in with the crowd.

Schott NYC uses heavyweight naked cowhide to help your leather jacket become your "second skin". Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. For wind protection and added warmth the 118 features an attached belt, zippered sleeve cuffs and a durable insulated nylon quilted lining sewn into the body of the jacket. Our bi-swing back panels and under arm footballs ensures that this jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all Perfecto® leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition started in the late 1920’s, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the 118. In keeping with their original custom style, Schott designed this jacket model with added versatility. Available in both regular and long sizes we often suggest this model for our taller customers. Long sizes add 2 inches to the body length and 1 inch to the sleeves.
Schott sells this leather jacket model true to size, if you wear a 42 suit jacket simply order a size 42 and you will even have room for a sweatshirt underneath for those colder days. With that said it has occurred a few times that some of those young whippersnappers are able to downsize to achieve that tight, t-shirt only, bad boy look. Of course this is just our best recommendation, as always we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit.

The Schott Perfecto® Model #118 is still proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

The three pocket design of the Schott Perfecto® Model 118 dates back to the late 1940's. In those days this leather motorcycle jacket was referred to as just “Perfecto®” or “Beck model 999” (manufactured by Schott). The small coin flap pocket started out as a custom option offered in the early 50's. By 1955 this coin pocket became a standard feature of this biker-style jacket known as “the Perfecto® One Star".

Considered to be the best motorcycle jacket it caught the mainstream public's attention after Marlon Brando epitomized the coolest of cool, wearing his Perfecto® in that iconic classic film “The Wild One”. Originally referred to as "the One Star", it was officially banned from schools across the US for an entire year in the mid 50’s. Some believe this action served to make the Schott Perfecto® even more desirable to America’s young renegades with their “Wild One” tendencies. School Boards wanted to burn it and youthful rebels saved every penny to buy one. At the time, this jacket retailed for close to $50 which amounted to roughly 100 hours of work if you were a gas station attendant making fifty cents an hour!

The customized asymmetrical leather motorcycle jacket worn by Brando became the must-have anti-establishment symbol for 1950’s youth. The orders skyrocketed for this leather jacket causing Irving Schott and his son Mel to increase their workforce and expand the Schott factory. By the mid 1960’s the Perfecto® men’s jackets had also caught on with the emerging rock n roll movement. Once again, due to increasing sales, Schott had grown out of their current factory on King Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. A few new factories later and still in New Jersey, Schott proudly continues this iconic American classic motorcycle jacket for the wild side in all of us. There is still a Schott family member in the factory every day to make sure Irving would still be proud to put his name in these jackets.

I bought this primarily as a riding jacket, but will wear it casually sometimes too. I am 6'1", 187 lbs., and my chest measures at 41.5". I have a somewhat athletic build, with a thinner waist at 32". I bought a size 40, which the sizing chart recommended for a slimmer fit. I typically like all my clothes to be somewhat form fitting without being too tight, and the 118 fits the bill perfectly. When I first put it on, it was a little snug but had some room to spare. I can layer a hoodie or a flannel underneath just fine. You just have to know that it is a little snug (especially when brand new), but I like that type of fit. If you like a more relaxed fit, and you match my build, you could go with a 42 and be alright too. It also begins to quickly form to your body as well, so keep that in mind. I don't feel I even have to mention quality. Amazing craftsmanship and beautiful leather. You really can't go wrong.

The Perfecto 118 is the nicest jacket I’ve owned in my 73 years. It’s very well made and great on the ride. It fits just right, thanks to the customer service lady. (I would’ve ordered the wrong size without her guidance). I also ordered the faux fur collar which comes in handy when it’s colder and removes when it’s not. Best quality products from best quality workers, keep up the good work. Thanks.

I first bought one of these back in 1989 in Geneva, Switzerland. Shortly after, it was stolen... Over the next thirty years I have gone through many jackets, some ill fitting, some okay, but none measured up to the original Schott. So yesterday, I finally stepped up and ordered a new Perfecto 118. To my shock, it arrived only 24 hrs later, from new York to Vancouver Canada. Straight out of the box, it fits perfectly and feels like it was made specifically for me. Although pretty expensive, the main reason it took me so long to get one again, ($1250.00 Cdn dollars with the exchange rate and duty), no regrets. This baby is worth every penny. I did gamble a little on the sizing. I normally wear a 42, but I remember my first jacket all those years ago was a 42 and did feel a little small. I am 5'11, 160 lbs. This time I got a 44 and it is perfect.
This jacket is amazing. Excellent quality and service. Thank you everyone at Schott!!

I am no stranger to Schott nyc leather jackets. I was familiar with the Snug fit 618 and 613 from decades ago. So, I was concerned about ordering online and getting the right fit on the 118. After much measuring and comparing I decided to order true to size. I wear a size 40 Long suit, so I ordered 40 (the 118 is an inch longer in the body and sleeves than the 618) It fits great! Thanks for the size chart it also helped!

I would have to agree with other comments here, this jacket is truly amazing. The leather is thick, has an nice soft texture and looks beautiful. I followed online advice and ordered down (a size 40 and I am normally a 42). My one issue so far is that even though I have broad shoulders, there is still extra room when I zip the jacket up and I do get air in there when riding. I hope this becomes less of a problem as the jacket gets further broken in.

I received my jacket today, my chest is 42 and a half. I weigh 180. The chart said to get a 42 I did once it gets broken in it will be perfect. I can put on a long john top and tee shirt now. I will be able to add a sweat shirt once I get it broke in. That is all I want as I will not be riding if I need more due to the quality of the coat. It is very heavy and well made. I ordered it Sunday afternoon it arrived Tuesday morning. If you ride this is a must have. I am totally happy with the purchase.

Sup gals. Here's the deal. I'm 25, 5'10" and weigh about 145. I'm a tomboy and I have a very straight figure so I don't like how women's jackets come in at the waist. Like why?? My waist doesn't do that so why should my jacket? Anyway, my chest measures at 38, so thats what I bought. I'm stoked about my purchase, but keep in mind, this jacket is very roomy. It isn't fitted/slim fit, like H&M and other fast fashion brands have us accustomed to. There's room to throw on a couple layers underneath to actually stay warm on those winter rides. I'm happy with this because the winters where I live are unbelievably cold. However, if I lived in a warmer climate I may have exchanged for a 36. So keep that in mind. Overall, I'm so happy with this purchase. So ready to wear this jacket for the rest of my days and pass it down to my children because it is truly so indestructible and beautiful and classic.

I did a bunch of research before I bought my very first leather jacket. I kept coming to the schott perfecto. I bounced between a couple other jackets like the 626 and the 618 but i went for the 118 because of the the little extra mobility compared to the 626 and the extra inch in length compared to the 618. I'm 6 ft 2 in 195 lbs and that extra inch (I kept the 26 in length instead of doing the 28 in) was exactly what I needed for that perfect fit. I was also interested in a jacket that was slim fit to my body. I seen some reviews on youtube and the 118 looked very loose fit so I was a little worried about the look I was going for. I have a 44 in chest and have a very athletic build. Small waist (32 in) and a big chest. I just decided to trust the recommendation of the fit guide on this site and chose the very slim fit and it suggested a size 42. When I received the jacket and started to try it on I put one arm in and could tell it was going to be a perfect fit. The jacket fit like a glove. Like it was made specifically for my body. It truly is an amazing jacket and I'm glad I picked the 118. The durability of this jacket will definitely outlive me and I plan on leaving it to my son when I pass and I'm sure it will outlive him. Thank you Schott!

This beautiful Perfecto 118 is a gift to my son Steve. It is a matchless masterpiece of American craftsmanship and history. I’ll bet it will be an all time lifelong favorite, and he’ll remember his old dad every time he wears it. I can almost imagine him as Brando in high fidelity (size 50). Super cools!!👍👍 Thanks to Casey for helping make the purchase. She knows every product offered!
