Waxed Natural Pebbled Cowhide Café Leather Jacket

STYLE: 530

The 530 is a classic cool, no-frills leather jacket that looks perfect on the road or off the beaten path. Similar to the popular Model 141 but designed with a slimmer fit, this café racer motorcycle jacket is cut by hand from cowhide that was dye-drummed, creating a natural, pebbled appearance. As with all leather jackets, Schott uses only the best, highest quality leather for the 530. Durable yet supple with a soft, luxurious feel, your new jacket will feel like a second skin right out of the box, no break-in period required.

Schott believes in details. That’s why we’ve added a leather-trimmed inside breast pocket and unique, custom embossed "Schott" snap faces. The stand-up, mandarin-style collar with a snap closure protects your neck while the 100% cotton plaid lining feels smooth against your skin. You’ll find the three exterior zippered pockets with chain pulls useful for storing small but necessary items on the go. As always, the classic café racer motorcycle jacket style is still produced right here in the USA.

    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

Model 530 leather jackets for men are made with chrome-tanned, drum dyed, plump & spongy hides. You will find this jacket to be very comfortable to wear the moment you first try it on! This leather is made with an oil and aniline finish that gives a rustic old look and a soft "hand". As with all of Schott’s high quality leathers, this medium weight cowhide is tanned and processed to provide many years of use without the need for treatments or conditioners.

Motorcycle jackets need to be as tough as the people wearing them. You will enjoy the benefits of both stain resistance and added protection while riding on your classic motorbike or kicking back with friends at the local pub. Nickel plated brass hardware complete this timeless American made classic that is built to last.
As with all our leather jackets, Schott only uses the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition used in the 50's, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the Model 530. In keeping with their original custom style, Schott designed this jacket to fit tighter than most for that classic bold and streamlined look. Offered in sizes XS to 4XL we suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit. Also please note that the absence of underarm footballs combined with Schott’s tighter cut arms make this a slim fitting jacket.

The Schott Model 530 is proudly made in the USA. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

The Cafe Racer leather jacket design that became mainstream in the 1960's was developed in England. As soldiers were returning home after WWII they caught the bug of souping up older, prewar motorbikes. These motorcycles were raced between local pubs and cafes which created the need for a streamlined, minimalist leather racing jacket. Traveling at times in excess of 100 MPH was a fairly dangerous proposition on the roads that were more like trails at the time. Heavy horsehide and of course a strong main zipper added a certain level of protection for these speed happy daredevils. One would imagine there were wagers made and records set during these early cafe racing days.

Schott Brothers has produced a café racer leather motorcycle jacket since we produced model 666 RS for Beck in 1956. It was called a "Leather Racing Shirt" and cost $28.95 at the time. Schott also marketed our own racing jacket as the model 641XX. In the early days these leather jackets had symmetrical zippered pockets on the chest, an adjustable snap collar strap and zippered sleeve cuffs. As they were worn and abused many examples found today are missing any signs of the original inside linings.

Rooted in tradition, the Schott Model 530 continues this cafe racer style from the 50's. Based on early racer designs the 530 has changed a bit but the overall concept remains the same. Design a tight fitting, no frills mens leather jacket with a cool, refined look. We feel our Café Racer’s accomplished this and make a profound statement. Schott continues production of the classic Café Racer motorcycle jacket style, as always, right here in the U.S.A.

I owned a Schott motorcycle jacket over 20 years ago so I’m familiar with the company, their history and unequaled quality. I decided I wanted another nice leather jacket but a more casual style. I first ordered a 665 Asset style that was the most beautiful and nicest jacket I’ve ever seen but ended up exchanging it for this 530 model because it was very heavy and stiff and would take a long time to break in. To my delight, this 530 is every bit as nice, soft as butter and the perfect weight - heavy enough but comfortable. For size comparison, I’m 5’ 11” 215 lbs with a 49 inch chest measurement and normally wear a size XL. The measurement chart recommended a 2X so that’s what I ordered and it fits like it was tailor made. I have fairly long arms and normally need a tall size in long sleeve shirts. My only fear in ordering was that the arms might be too short. I was pleasantly surprised that the arms are the perfect length for me. So if your arms are on the shorter side, you may find them a little long. A Schott jacket is not cheap, but it’s a quality investment that will last a lifetime.

Like many of us, I have been waiting to get this jacket for a while - and got it during Thanksgiving. The quality of the jacket is impeccable. Fit wise, I'd say the recommended size (on the website) worked for me - although I did note that the jacket loosened up a bit after a few wear. Overall very happy with the buy and can tell that it will last for a long time.

A well-made and well-fitting leather jacket can make you feel like a different person when you wear it. It's a similar effect as putting on a nice suit or a flight suit; you don't just feel different, people treat you differently.
I did a lot of research before I purchased this jacket and I'm glad I did. Every part of this jacket is very high quality from the zippers, to the buckles, to the snaps on the collar. The leather is very supple with no imperfections and feels as good as the day I first put it on (two years ago).
This is also a very tough jacket. I wear this jacket A LOT and in all different weather. I've worn it riding my motorcycle, while shoveling snow, running a forklift for twelve hours a day, and everything in between. With proper maintenance, I have no doubt this jacket will still be in good working order when I give it to my son in 17 years.

Bought this beautiful leather jacket for my husband for Christmas in XL. It fit perfect. The leather is absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny to be made in the USA was very important and worth the extra cost. So happy thanks

Excellent quality coat. Loved it, but the fit and style weren't quite right for me. I ended up returning it. I ended up ordering three different coats before I found the one that was perfect for me, and it was exactly what I wanted. Could not be happier. The return process was super easy. No hassle at all even though I did it more than once. No questions asked. Schott got me the exchange super fast on both returns.

I was hesitant to buy a $900 jacket online without seeing it and trying it on. I read endless reviews, researched articles, viewed hours of YouTube review videos, and emailed Schott directly for their sizing chart for this jacket. Eventually, I took the plunge and am glad that I did because the quality is exceptional! Anyone interested in this jacket should ask Schott for the sizing chart. In fact, Schott should have the charts online for each jacket. The fit is #1 priority when buying a leather jacket. What is currently available on the Schott website isn’t adequate enough when making a $900 decision.

Most of the reviews on here aren’t helpful enough to decide on which size to get. I’m 6’4”, 33 inch waist, 185 lbs, athletic build, 40 long suit, 15 1/2 34/35 shirt, 33 x 34 pants, Medium t-shirts. I have an upside down triangle figure with broader shoulders and a smaller waist.

I was trying to decide between M or L for this jacket. Based on the measurement sizing charts, the length between the two are exactly the same. The sleeve length is only about 1/4 inch longer in the Large. Chest size on Medium is up to 40 inch chest whereas the Large is up to a 44 chest.

I went with a Medium sized jacket. It fits like a glove! Honestly, the jacket looks better on me than the models that they have on the Schott website.

The quality is exceptional. The leather is heavy. The hardware is top notch.

A few disappointments. 1. The plaid cotton lining inside kinda sucks. I would have liked to see a higher quality fabric. 2. There is no interior left side pocket. The only pocket is on the right side. Come on Schott! I’d pay $10 more of a left side interior pocket. 3. I was expecting an intoxicating leather smell when I opened the package. Nope! Very little leather scent comes off the jacket.

Overall, this is a superior leather jacket! Once you do your due diligence on the sizing, just order it. You won’t be disappointed. Remember, the proper size is King.

Beautiful jacket. Size S for 5’7”, 160lbs, 32 waist is perfect. Liner is surprisingly warm; great for temperature range 30-65F. In retrospect I might have considered one of their similar lightweight racers for wear in more seasons.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday and he loved it- it was true to size. His favorite part is that it is made in the USA. The leather is super soft and the fit was perfect on him

Loving the 530. Great feel. Waxy cowhide works for this style. Looks tough and thick, but supple feel.
*Sizing: I’m 6’0” and 210. XL fits right. For me. Not super snug, not super loose. I’ll wear this with flannel shirts, hoodies or sweaters.
This is so basic, but so classically cool that it can be worn almost anywhere. Dig it.
