I am a HUGE Schott fan. I have over 10 jackets, a mix of mostly leather as well as some nylon/cotton jackets. Despite owning so many Schott jackets, I have never purchased their classic Perfecto style jackets, as I was afraid I would not be able to pull off the tough vibe these jackets can give off. However, I am in LOVE with this jacket! For the record, this jacket IS BUFFALO LEATHER, not Steerhide. I have contacted customer service and they said they keep the steerhide label but it’s made of buffalo (I don’t know why they don’t change the label, but whatever).
First off, the buffalo leather is very distinct. I own steerhides and they feel nothing like buffalo. The buffalo leather on the PER22 is thick. However, I have found that this jacket seems nice and soft, with virtually no break-in period. I would almost describe it as a rubbery feeling, but not in a bad way! It’s a nice departure from my other leathers.
This jacket is also quite lightweight. The red lining is beautiful in person. It’s also VERY breathable, making this a great leather jacket for warmer weather in my opinion. Despite the jacket’s heaviness, I think the lining helps with keeping you cool. By the way, there are NO underarm footballs on this jacket, just a bi-swing, which I like for extra movement. The antique hardware is a nice touch. Although I prefer the shiny hardware, I bought this version because the sale price was too good to pass up. The zippered sleeves are different, as they run on top of your arms instead of below, but it’s a nice departure from the usual location. There is also a button for the belt that allows you to clip it on and prevent it from hanging or flying all over the place. I like to switch between both styles occasionally, and both look great.
For sizing reference, I’m 23 years old, 5’8, weigh around 170 pounds with broad shoulders and a 39 inch chest and ordered a size Medium. Normally, I have difficulty with sizing for Schott. Some jackets run too big, others too small. I find this jacket is roomy on me, but not too roomy that it looks oversized. It’s perfect for layering and doesn’t scrunch up/look weird. A size Small would have been too tight on my shoulders. I love wearing this jacket in the winter with a black hoodie and some nice leather gloves. Not only does it keep me super warm when layered, but it’s so stylish!
For the current sale price of $655 USD, I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone looking for a nice Perfecto jacket. As mentioned above, this jacket doesn’t really have a break-in period, which can be a positive or negative for you. Although I would’ve preferred a stiffer jacket, I don’t mind the softness. I can’t wait to see how this jacket will patina in the future, as I’m sure it will look even better over time!
This is my third jacket from Schott, all of them are unique in their own category. I am 5 feet 9 and weight 80kg, recommended size M and it is spot on, like the vintage look. The jacket is heavy, thick and solid but supple. Not sure if it's made of Buffalo leather because it's "Steer hide" on the label, a bit confusing. Loved the discounted price during this great crisis of time we are passing.
Classic motorcycle jacket that does not scream at you with chrome fittings. Buffalo leather is fabulous, soft, thick, tough. Love the burgundy lining. Jacket is unique and will never go out of style.
Other than the unnecessary confusion as to the leather this PER22 is made of, I love this jacket. This website clearly says the PER22 is made of buffalo, but the label in my new jacket says it is made of steerhide. I can only assume that Schott switched from steerhide to buffalo at some point and my jacket was older inventory. Other than that
My jacket is exactly like the one on this page. It has the burgundy satin lining, and the antique brass snaps, zippers and buckle. It’s beautiful.
At 6’0”, 225 pounds, with a 46” chest and 36” waist, I bought the size XL, as the Schott website fit guide recommend. It’s a bit snug in the chest, shoulders and upper arms but I just won’t be layering under it. I have other jackets for that. I have a Schott 118 in size 48, but I wear a size 46 suit and size XL leather jackets sold by Harley-Davidson, Indian Motorcycle Co., Allstate Leather, and others. I really like the antique brass instead of the shiny nickel bits. This will probably be my primary riding jacket.
This jacket is great, the leather is perfect, the stitching is perfect, the style is awesome. I ordered this jacket in a size large per the fit chart. I'm 6.0' tall, 195 lbs, with a 42 inch chest. The large fit great when I was just standing there with my arms hanging down by my waist, but when I stretched my arms out to reach my handlebars the fit was tight in the arms, especially the top of my biceps. I didn't think it would stretch enough, so I returned it and ordered a size XL, it fits perfect. I wanted to be able to layer at least a light hoodie and the XL fits perfectly and not too tight in the arm like the Large. The leather is thick, tough, and fairly supple. And the jacket looks cool and tough with the subdued hardware and zippers. I have already taken a ride on my Harley and the fit while riding is great. It's a thick warm jacket and was exactly what I was looking for.
6’3”, 200 lbs, 44” chest, 33” waist, and the large fits perfectly. I like the look of my 641 Cafe Racer (size 46) a wee bit better, but the Perfecto is more functional on my motorcycle. Best of both worlds!
I don’t think there’s a better leather on the market. Period. You can try to find a wannabe perfecto but it will never be this great! Do it! This per22 is pur sexy!
Love this jacket- purchased it today at the nyc shop. Only complaint is the description says Buffalo leather but it’s actually steerhide. A little misleading if you ask me. Still love Schott as i own 4 jackets, all US made! 4 out of 5 due to the leather not being accurate with the description.
Wonderful experience in ordering a birthday gift for my son. The order came in super fast. Unfortunately I ordered a large for my son since that what he normally wears. The jacket is generous in size - so order down. I contacted the company and they were wonderful. Again super fast service. I received and printed the shipping label sent back the Large and presto a size medium was sent ASAP. My son loves the jacket and I am pleased with the service and quality. I highly recommend doing business with this very fine business.
I ordered the Buffalo Perfecto Leather Jacket for as a gift for my son's birthday. He loves the jacket and it is beautiful. The quality is outstanding.
Most important is the outstanding service I received during this purchase. I had ordered a large for my son. The jacket came & it was too large. I had to return the jacket and reorder a medium. Denise at customer service assisted me and all went smoothly. In two days I had the new jacket. Service is not only superior but fast!
I will definitely purchase from this company again.
