Hand Oiled Lightweight Naked Perfecto® Motorcycle Jacket with Plaid Cotton Lining - Brown

STYLE: 619

(18)
We modeled this lightweight motorcycle jacket after our classic 618 model with a few key differences including slimmer arms and a longer torso. Perfecto® Model 619 leather jackets for men are made with chrome-tanned, drum dyed, lightweight naked cowhide leather. You will find this jacket to be very comfortable to wear the moment you first try it on! Our “pull up” naked cowhide leather has a soft “hand” and a buttery feel. The tannery put this hide through a process very similar to “glazing”. The end result is an incredible type of shading or mottling that occurs with normal use. This skin will develop unique and subtle creasing that constantly changes as you move and bend in the jacket and very quickly develops into a rich patina. The beauty of this finish is that a quick application of leather oil can restore the jacket to its original form. One note of caution before applying oils or conditioners to this leather: applying leather oils to this motorcycle jacket will darken the appearance of the leather and you will lose much of the pull up effect.

    Leather Type, Fit and Construction:

Incorporating more of a fashion fit, the 619 is cut tighter in the arms. We also removed the underarm footballs for a more streamlined fit. Another change that was made from our original 618 design is the added snap near the belt buckle. This was done to keep the heavy buckle in place even when the belt is open. Also this jacket is longer than the classic 618 and fits very much like model 626. This Perfecto® model 619 moto jacket was designed and built for the long haul, the short ride, and everything in between!
For wind protection and added warmth the 619 features an attached belt, traditional zippered sleeve cuffs and a durable cotton flannel lining sewn into the body. Our bi-swing back panels along with the lighter weight cowhide ensure that this tight fitting jacket moves with you eliminating that restrictive feel often found with other leather motorcycle jackets. Old school brass hardware completes this timeless American made classic that is built to last a lifetime.

As with all Perfecto® leather jackets, we only use the best, highest quality leather available. In the same tradition used in the 50's, highly skilled workers hand-cut each panel for the 619. We suggest you carefully check our sizing diagrams and measurements to determine best fit. Please note this model is a true to fit style.

The Schott Perfecto® Model #619 is proudly made in the U.S.A. Our customers know that the quality and construction of our jackets are unparalleled. From the heavyweight thread we use to the strong American hands that do the crafting. We build our leather motorcycle jackets to the same indestructible standards as the old style leather medicine balls. One-hundred plus years of being the best is your assurance that Schott Brothers stands behind every jacket we make.

    History:

The three pocket design of the Schott Perfecto® dates back to the late 1940's. In those days this leather motorcycle jacket was referred to as just “Perfecto®” or “Beck model 999” (manufactured by Schott). The small coin flap pocket started out as a custom option offered in the early 50's. By 1955 this coin pocket became a standard feature of this biker-style jacket known as “the Perfecto® One Star".

Considered to be the best motorcycle jacket it caught the mainstream public's attention after Marlon Brando epitomized the coolest of cool, wearing his Perfecto® in that iconic classic film “The Wild One”. Originally referred to as "the One Star", it was officially banned from schools across the US for an entire year in the mid 50’s. Some believe this action served to make the Schott Perfecto® even more desirable to America’s young renegades with their “Wild One” tendencies. School Boards wanted to burn it and youthful rebels saved every penny to buy one. At the time, this jacket retailed for close to $50 which amounted to roughly 100 hours of work if you were a gas station attendant making fifty cents an hour!

The customized asymmetrical leather motorcycle jacket worn by Brando became the must-have anti-establishment symbol for 1950’s youth. The orders skyrocketed for this leather jacket causing Irving Schott and his son Mel to increase their workforce and expand the factory. By the mid 1960’s the Perfecto® mens jackets had also caught on with the emerging rock n roll movement. Once again, due to increasing sales, we had grown out of our current factory on King Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. A few new factories later but still in NJ and under the leadership of Roz and Jason Schott our family proudly continues to produce this iconic American classic motorcycle jacket for the wild side in all of us.

    EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS

I love this jacket. I have been riding for 40 years and never had a Perfecto. Just cheap no name leather that surely protected me but fit terribly. This 619 fits like a glove. The leather feels sturdy but not heavy and I can wear it on a hot day without getting overheated. Wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get one. I care more about function than form but people say it looks great too.

Beautiful. I have the 626 and love it, good sale price recently for 619 and jumped on it. Received today and fits great similar to 626 (626 is slightly more snug and feels slightly thicker). Leather on 619 is a little more stiff which is nice. Looks amazing, feels great, hardware is nice and i see what others have said about buckle, its not bad i dont expect to kill any bears with it. Im 6ft 215lbs 44 chest 36 jeans, large jacket, fits comfortably close. Yes its summer in Florida and i bought my 3rd schott.. Im silly like that, cant help myself.

    BETTER WITH AGE

This beauty is the second Schott jacket that I have bought in 9 months. The quality of the leather, the lining and the hardware are superb. It’s described as lightweight but it’s heavier than I expected and that’s a good thing. The only gripes: the belt buckle feels very flimsy, almost plastic although I am sure it’s not and the zipper pulls for the pockets are very small and could use either a larger pull tab or a leather extension to make the job easier. I am 6” 1” and a 42 was recommended. I choose my gut and went with the 44. No regrets there.
This jacket gets lots of attention and at 60 years of age, all those that know me say the brown is a perfect combination of class and beauty. Unlike myself.

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SCHOTTS.

I bought this gorgeous brown 619 Perfecto the same week I had already purchased a brand new, brown Schott 626 Perfecto. They sound like they should be almost identical brown leather motorcycle jackets with asymmetrical front zippers, epaulets and half belts, so why did I get both? I certainly didn’t need both. I just wanted them, plus I got good deals on both — which is unusual for Schott jackets. The reason I kept both is because the leather on each jacket is different enough that you really won’t get confused. Both are considered lightweight cowhides but the finishing process is very different. The 626 has a mottled, medium brown appearance while this one has more of a uniform, dark brown, oil-tanned finish. If you push your finger into the leather of this 619 from the inside, the coloration turns pale and this moves with your finger, but it doesn’t leave a permanent change in the appearance.

This 619 is not only great looking, with the shiny brass zippers, snaps, and buckle (as opposed to the 626 with the black hardware) but it also fits extremely well — almost exactly like the slim-fit 626. At 6’0”, 225 lbs with a 46” chest, 35” waist, and a weightlifter’s (aging) physique, Schott’s Fit Guide recommended a size XL, but I have learned that Schott jackets run tight across the chest, shoulders and upper arms, so if you are thicker in those areas you should size up. I bought both jackets (and several other Schotts) in size 2XL (or 48, if the numbered size are available).

One feature I particularly like is that the buckle on the half-belt of this 619 (as well as that of the 626) has a female snap that secures it to a male snap on the body of the jacket. This keeps the buckle from flopping around when not being used and scratching your gas tank. I wish all Schott Perfectos with half-belts had this feature, because my 118, 618HH and 613 do not.

I highly recommend this 619 if you want something other than the three “B”s (Basic Biker Black).

Been eyeing this jacket for years but the price kept me holding off. I randomly came across the jacket again on sale and just decided to just hit the BUY button without overthinking. Totally worth it. The fit. The color hue of the brown. The quality of the leather. The craftsmanship. I love everything about it.

    ANOTHER WORK OF ART

Schott Jacket #10. I can't describe how exciting it is to see that Schott box by the front door. Or how exciting it is to open that box and pull out a bran new Schott leather jacket. That being said, this jacket is another work of art. The leather is absolutely beautiful, and the more you wear it the better it will get. The brass hardware is a perfect match with the look of the leather. Even the lining has an amazing look. The leather, stitching, and hardware are all of high quality. It is a perfect fit and so comfortable. The zippers operate smoothly. When you throw this on, it screams open road. It literally takes you to a perfect spring day on your favorite Harley. I can't wait to wear this on my next road trip and adventure. Thanks again to the Schott team for another masterpiece.

BEAUTIFUL JACKET WITH A SENSE OF STYLE.

I was initially skeptical about buying a brown motorcycle jacket (a typically black leather type); however, after a week of use, it is nothing short of a classy, timeless piece. Sizing was perfect with a comfortable, snug fit, without the annoyance of being too large. It is a beautiful, elegant color all around the jacket, to which pictures do not do it justice. If you are looking to break the barrier of a generic black leather jacket, this model offers all the fantastic perks with a style that will turn heads.
