I really liked this style and wanted it to work for me. The size guide put me in a medium. I’m 5’6” and 138 pounds with slim hips. With help from a representative who took more specific measurement info and explained their jackets ran very small, it seemed I was a large. The shoulders were too tight, but the body fit. I exchanged that for an XL but that didn’t work either. The shoulders fit better, but the body was too large. If I lifted my arms up to shoulder height, the jacket rose way up above my waist. The quality was excellent, but the fit was not meant for me. Very disappointing.
I obsessed about Schott jackets for weeks and was torn between this one and the Perfecto. I decided the Perfecto's belt might drive me bananas, so I went with this one instead. .I'm 5'6" 130 lbs and originally got a small but it was too tight across my shoulders. I mean, it looked really cool and form fitting when it was unzipped, but as soon as I zipped it it didn't look right. So I returned the small and got a medium instead, and it's great - I can wear it with a thick sweater and wrap a scarf around my neck and shove the extra scarf bits into the jacket to keep me warm. It's a bitchin, classic jacket and I love it.
I did a lot of research and even went to the LA store before ordering this jacket. Normally, I am a size S, but ended up having to exchange it for the XS jacket. (The customer service was great.) The sleeves are fully leather instead of leather with a stretchy fabric insert like many fashion-leather jackets, so if you have twiggy arms like I do, then there will be a lot of room in the arms. My only other gripe is the zippers are not YKK; rather, they say Schott on them, so I am not sure how well they will hold up. Anyway, I am happy with my purchase and have already gotten quite a few compliments from just breaking it in!
Very well-made leather jacket. I am 5'5' and 130lbs and an x-small was too small. A small probably would have been perfect. So don't hesitate to order your true size.
