I got this jacket a year ago in NYC store. I was debating b/w a 641HH and 530. I tried 530 which is too tight for the small, but too large for medium. 641HH is amazing but I don't like the collar too much. When I tried on this one I knew this is the one. Leather is very thick and heavy, fits like an armor. Smells like a dream.
Pros: thick leather it's going to last many generations.
Cons: After wearing this for awhile there's a few problems.
1. Due to the thick leather, there's some loose stitches here and there, I have 2 on the sleeves and on in the mid body.
2. Also due to thick leather, the left inside pocket corner (where all the leather meets) creates a bulge that protrudes a bit when zipped up. It's already discolored a bit on the outside. I removed that piece of leather from the inside pocket and it's much better.
3. The zipper head on the sleeves rotated 90 degrees sometimes, and it's hard to pull. I have removed the head and attached key rings with leather pull and made it better.
4. Not a con but I felt the wool lining is scratchy and too warm, a lighter weight lining would be much appreciated. I tried contacting schott for potential lining changes but no response from them yet.
It's a good jacket but I think for the price I expected a bit better.
This jacket is a monster -very heavy and stiff, but I love it! The leather is unmatched for look and feel - and the quality is superb.
One year has passed since I purchased this jacket. It is exceptional among the leather jackets of Schott. However, I don't think this jacket of very heavy Chromeexcel steerhide is suitable for beginner leather jackets.
Rubbing with a rag does not require any special care, and the luster comes out.（From Japan）
This jacket is a beast. To anyone considering this jacket, know that it is extremely stiff. Like boxy stiff when you first get it. The more you wear it, a few rainstorms and even some snow storms will help to soften it up, but it will probably take a year for it to be really broken in.
The black color is amazing as is the lining but ultimately it was not for me. I just didn’t want to break it in. Maybe now that I’m a little older, I just want something already broken in or one that won’t take to long, but the Asset seems like in 20 years it would still look as good the day it was received. It is also super heavy, and just not a daily wear jacket (for me.) I ordered an XL and it was perfect for me at 6’0” 220 with a 44 inch chest.
Bulletproof, awesome , built like a tank, my grandson will probably be wearing this jacket.
(And he hasn't even been born yet)
First time writing a review but I just had to do it. I’m 6’2 broad shoulders but pretty skinny and it’s tough to find a jacket in my size, this one fits like a glove. It’s sharp, heavy, and gorgeous. Smells divine and looks badass. Dig the lining too.
First day I wore it I was waiting at a bus station and a lady walked by me, turned around and yelled “cool jacket dude!”
I couldn’t be more happy with this (expensive) purchase. Schott please make more jackets in this sizing!!!
This jacket looks even better in person. I am 6’3”, 235 with a 46” chest. I bought an xxl. Jacket fit in every place perfectly, except for in the armpit area. Even with just a T-shirt it was uncomfortable with my arms even straight down. Add a layer or put your arms out as if to grab the handlebars, and obviously it got worse. I was disappointed because i had wanted this for months before buying.
Called and spoke with Jerri, who was very helpful. She directed me towards the 141L. Exchanged the P665 for a 141L in a 46. Exchange only took a couple days. Unfortunately, the 46 was still a little snug with more than one shirt. I am now waiting for a 141L in a 48 to arrive in hopes that it will be the perfect end result.
I hope this helps anyone with similar dimensions.
I never write reviews but here goes.
Went to the NYC store lower Manhattan, fantastic experience with the staff. Was torn between this and the 530 but in the end decided on the 665 because it’s impressive jacket well beyond the 530. Significant leather unlike the 530 and a bit stiff to the point of feeling like armor however this is the best made leather jacket money can. buy. The leather quality is awesome.
The staff was extremely patient, one is a fellow rider who owns the same jacket. He told me to go slightly snug because within 6 months the leather will give a 1/2 size more. After a 6 month to 1 year break-in of frequent wear, the leather should be perfect. Only complaint after getting it home was the eather tab on main zipper doesn’t exist, torn off maybe?....otherwise it’s a lifetime perfect jacket.
First I ordered P665H limited edition, the horsehide was very stiff and it had some stitch issue. Since it was limited edition and I couldn’t get an exchange so I sent it back and ordered this one instead. It was the best decision made! A small is a much better fit and the cowhide is softer, the construction of this jacket is meticulously done! The smell of Horween Cxl is very nice, finally found the perfect jacket!
The Horween leather on this jacket is incredible! It is is very heavy, durable and smells great. The jacket is sized a bit narrow so order one size up. The materials and construction on this jacket, are just what you expect from Schott.--- Perfect.
