Broken Zippers

Such a disapointment. 901 Perfecto owner wonders why Schott uses the cheapest zippers on earth. Two broke the first month. That was two years ago. For cool weather riding its usless. Can not use gauntlet gloves, left bottom cuff zipper is broken. Left side pocket zipper lasted about a month. Pistol pocket schredded. Was supposed to be delivered with one star on each appalett, that didnt happen and it was sent back for an exchange to a larger size ( on my dime) so they had the oppertunity to fix this. Its a Poser Jacket. Start using some heavy duty zippers.

Later......Im going to my Harley dealer for my next jacket.

I checked our records and you purchased a 118 from us in 2008, I do not know what a 901 Perfecto is? The 118 does not have stars on the epaulets, only the one star style 613 has the stars. We do stand behind our jackets on quality and workmanship and our zippers are heavy duty. The jacket does have a quilted body lining which is insulation for winter wear. On the sleeve zipper were you trying to zipper the sleeve over the gloves? I checked back through my records and did not find an email in regards to the problems you were having as we would have addressed them to see what the problem was, and the options for repairs. Gail

Joe, what is a Perfecto 901?

I have owned 4 Perfecto 125s since 1992 (only reason I have gotten new ones is that I've grown out of previous jackets)...along with a basket-weave retro jacket, and 2 vests...never once have I had a malfunction with a zipper...not even the zip-out liner zippers.

Do you open the zippers with a pair of Vice-grips??

YellowHarley on 02/25/11 at 09:30 AM

The zippers have become misaligned. I do ride in Buffalo New York in some mighty cold weather. I suppose pulling the zippers up nice and tight with gloves on is breaking them. But this shouldnt happen for the price of the jacket.  It's not heavy duty. I have two leathers that get the same treatment both at least 10 years old and all  the zips work. Sorry, no excuses accepted by Schott. The jacket cant take the beating.

The gloves or gauntlets are worn Over the sleeve not under them,no wonder youre putting stress on the zippers moron. Why dont you learn how to dress instead of dissing Schott. Your probably having trouble with your pants zippers too HA HA HA

Why make fun of me ?

YellowHarley on 02/25/11 at 02:05 PM

It seems that many of you collect Schott as vintage jackets which is cool to me. Im not posting to be told how to dress myself or to be called a moron. If making fun of someone you never met makes you happy, then knock yourself out.

Staying on point, Joseph, why don't you call Schott and ask for Gail? She has posted in this thread and I'm sure she will do anything she can to help you solve your problem. A personal call can sometimes help everyone involved. I do understand she ducks out early every day: one of the perks of having been there so long!

 Good luck

YellowHarley on 02/25/11 at 03:11 PM

I will give her a call. Thanks for being civil. Enjoy your weekend !

Had to reply on this one, I would be more then happy to adress the issues with the jacket and more then happy to inspect the jacket if sent into us. Yes I have been here a long time this is my 30th. year at Schott. I do leave the office at 3:30 pm, but I am at my desk at  6:45 am. Gail

When you start out a thread  with an extremely abrasive tone and refer to arguably the best made biker jackets as "Poser", you are guaranteed to NOT receive hugs and ice cream in return...if you want to be treated with respect, try treating the company and the fans of these iconic jackets with some.

richgreene on 02/25/11 at 03:54 PM

The guy didnt seem abrasive or cruel to the God-Like Schott products,he just seemed a little POed about the zippers (which my guess hes using wrong) The only thing that bugs me are those cheap little chain pulls which are quickly remedied by tying a leather strip to them. I still cant figure out a 901 model though

There's ice cream?

cwbork44 on 02/25/11 at 04:20 PM

The word "Poser" doesn't make you any friends with anyone I know...or any of the people I ride with.

10Ring on 02/25/11 at 04:23 PM

So Gail, you mean you both leave early AND come in late!!? Around here we have the south forty plowed by 6:45AM.......:)  :)
