Just a little information on sizing. The James Dean Collection was done in 1985 and at that time jackets were smaller in sizing then todays more updated fit in jackets. If you locate a jacket to purchase a size 40 will probbaly fit closer to a size 38.

Have you done a search under our Trade Post option? Possibly someone has posted a James Dean Jacket in the past that is for sale.

Yes i searched but the only one i found dont have belt and colar, and it seems the guy sold it on ebay.

I have a question, is it possible to buy replacement belt\colar from Schott for this Dean jacket?

Gail on 06/17/17 at 10:18 AM

When we made the James Dean Collection we offered 2 styles the JD-1 and the JD-2. The JD-1 jacket was a Limited Edition in Horsehide leather, genuine Mouton collar, Brass zippers & trim and the Sam Brown basket weave belt. The  JD-2 jacket was a Collector's Edition in Steerhide leather, Dynel pile collar, Nickel zippers and trim and no belt. The belt was an optional additional purchase for this style. The belts were ordered from a belt company and not manufactured by Schott. We can make a replacement collar for the jacket, but you would need to send the jacket into our repair department. Since the jacket is from 1985 we no longer have the patterns for the collar and would need to make one for a new collar. For comparison in pricing in 1985 the JD-1 retailed around $350 and the JD-2 was around $250.

Thx a lot, do u know who produced the belt for this jacket ?

Glad u can make a new collar, i have a dur o jack perfecto without belt too, it is possible to get a replacement belt ?

Gail on 06/20/17 at 09:44 AM

I believe the name of the company was Cobra, but I could be wrong, since it has been over 30 years and my memory may be wrong. I know they made the belts especially for these jacket, they were a very heavy basketweave leather design. At that time they manufactured belts for retailers or other manufactures using their belts on items, they did not sell directly to the public. Of course Schott did not sell directly to the consumer in 1985 either, so if the company is still in business they may now sell directly to the consumer. When purchasing any belt for a jacket you have to measure very carefully to be sure you get a belt long enough for the circumference of the jacket and the extra length to buckle properly.

We can make a replacement collar for the James Dean jacket if you find a jacket that is missing the collar. In regards to the Duro Jac labeled jacket you have, I am not sure what style number you have, if the jacket has the snaps for a collar to be attached then you can probably purchase our standard collar #618M for the jacket. Since I do not know what style jacket this is I am not sure if you need the half belt replaced or you want a full belt? We can replace the half belt by doing a repair on the jacket. If you have a jacket with just belt loops to add a optional belt of your choice we do not make these belts. You could check with Jerri in our customer service if they would make a custom full belt for your jacket

Woo thanks, i'll search on google if i can find something about this brand and this belt.

About the collar 618M i didn't knew that such thing existed for a perfecto, it's really awesome cause i love fur collar on jackets, i'll probably order one in some months.

For my dur o jack i joined 2 pics, u can see how it look with the belt, if u think it's possible to make a new one then i'll contact Jerri, i'll ask her about the missing stars on my old 618 too.

The belt on the 526 photo you posted is the belt we made for that jacket. You can check with Jerri if we can make a replacement belt for you of the jacket. She can check withnour designer to see if we still have the patterns or if he can make a new pattern. On our collar style 618M, please note the collar is only for selected style that have collar snaps on the jacket for attaching, the style listed are on our website under the style.

Btw i haven't find anything about the belt, i'll keep searching

Gail on 07/01/17 at 08:10 AM

Just to let you know, our factory works with a limited office staff the first 2 weeks in July for vactation of the employees. When emailing our customer service it may take time for a reply. Jerri would also have to check with other people on making a replacement belt and they may be on vacation.

Very Nice Jacket! Great Find!

RotationSensation on 08/19/17 at 05:47 AM

Thx :D

Really happy, it's a dream come true, for me the JD1 is the ultimate leather jacket.

It took me around 6 months to find one with belt+collar, not so long considering there are only 500 of them in the world

@Gail, if u read this message u was right about the brand of the belt, it's "cobra gunskin", and the colar is very similar to the 618M, i tried it on my 115 size 40 and it fit the jacket perfectly

If somebody need informations about that jacket don't hesitate to ask me
