Check the coin pocket for the hire ticket with the style number of this jacket. Based on your photo the jacket appears to be a style #118 not a 118J. The 118J was special production for our distributor in France and had the "Schott" logo embroidery above the pocket. This jacket does not have the embroideried logo.

Gail it does say 118 J but this jacket was made on Friday afternoon and they ran out of embroidered pockets so someone snuck on one without the embroidery. Haha but that's ok. Lott 1717 bndl  024

I got it from a girl in France and wish I could have met her because her perfume was the first thing I smelled when I opened the box. Smelled like love to me. Chanel no 5 I think.. apparently whoever had it never wore it because it had no gold marks no fading no wrinkles. No smashed grasshoppers or June bugs. The tag had no bar code. The zippers are all YKK

Since the pocket label has no barcode we know it was produced prior to 1993 and explains the reason for no embroidery. Our relationship with our distributor dates back to the 1980's and this jacket is from the early years of production for them. We used the "J" to regonize the jacket as being a production jacket for France, later in years they added the embroidery to the jacket.

How much does the jacket weight?  Were 118J for franch market also from heavier leather like 618J?

JuzyHD on 02/19/17 at 02:17 PM

Have you ever weight them? I'm curious what is the weight of this jackets for comparison with my jackets.. I am waiting for my Schott 618J, it should arrive tomorrow or day after tomorrow. ..

Wooow nice collection you got there man!!!

When weighing any jacket you must take into consideration of a few things, different lining can affect the weight, as well as trim on the jacket. Vintage jackets from the 70's and early 80's were also about 1/4-1/2 oz. heavier in weight. The size of the jacket will also contribute to the weight of the jacket, larger sizes have more leather resulting in a heavier jacket

all the jackets are from the early 90s bar the 671 which is only about 10 years old, all have the standard liners where applicable, and yes I emptied the pockets! Interestingly I once owned a vanson which weighed almost 9 lbs! Was too warm to wear in the summer!

1/4 to 1/2 oz heavier per jacket? ? ?

Gail on 02/21/17 at 06:57 AM

That would be per "square" foot of leather, which is a small percentage of the total weight of a jacket. Weight of a jacket can also depend on the style, some styles take less other styles are more, plus larger sizes jackets will be heavier then smaller size jackets.

Looks like 618J is from heavier leather indeed.  Mine weights a little over 4.6 lbs and it's size 42.
