Schott 675?

I received this jacket today, and I have doubts as to its authenticity. It just has a different feel, unlike leather. (It squeaks)

The zipper has no name, only a design, but it does have a pocket tag.

Maybe I just don’t know what goat skin feels like? But it feels like pleather.

Based on the pocket ticket the jacket is the authentic style 675 which we produced in out line from 1987 - 1992 with this type of pocket ticket. Goatskin does have a firm hand as being a vey strong leather. The jacket is at least 27 years old, possibly older and if the jacket has not been cleaned and condition to maintain the leather it could need some TLC. If jacket are not maintained in conditioning they leather can dry out. The other possiblity is that a previous owner has applied a product to the leather. Some people apply a water repellent to leather which is good for shoes but not a leather jacket as you want the jacket to last many years. A water repellent product seals the pores, not allowing conditioners to be absorbed and will eventually dry rot the leather. On a used vintage jacket you can never be sure of the jacket's history. You can try conditioning the jacket with a all natural product and if the leather is not sealed it may help soften the leather so it doesn't squeak.
