Retiring from my position at Schott

I wanted to post a brief message that at the end of the month I will retire from my position at Schott. I have had the pleasure to know and work with all four generations of the Schott family. It's been a great company to work for and great people to work with. I have been fortunate enough to have a job that I loved, not many people can say that. From my entry level position in customer service in 1981 to becoming Purchasing Agent for the company, it has been a great ride! Because of the internet and our website, I have been able to communicate with so many wonderful people throughout the world. I just want to Thank you all for your kind words, friendship and thoughtfulness through the years. I think I could travel the world and know someone in any place I would go in my travels. After 32 years I will miss my Schott family, but at 70 it is time for me to retire. I will still try to help you all in dating those jackets. I will periodically check the posts on our blog. So keep posting those photos and questions and I will still try to date those jackets for you. Can you tell I am not ready to walk completely away from this job yet? Just be patient as it may take longer for replies, as I hear the beach, sun tan lotion and the Margaritas calling me! Gail

Being European, I got introduced to Schott rather recently, but I have to say, in those few years I've been a very proud owner of several Schott jackets and a part of this community, for me, the name Gail became synonymous with Schott. Whenever I saw someone asking for help regarding the date or ID of some awesome old jacket they've came across - exactly how I found out about the company - I would always look forward to reading your reply. You're right about knowing someone where ever you could think of going, and I'm sure all of us whom you've helped so much over so many years would be really happy to meet you.

Have a beautiful retirement and enjoy every minute of it, Gail, and I wish you all the best. Thank you for helping me get that perfect jacket. You will be missed!

Dear Gail! Thank you very much for being so patient to us and answering for the same questions over the decades and being so kind even if they were dumb questions. Watch out for the Margaritas! ;-) All the best wishes from Hungary! (Interesting but all replies are coming from Europe!)

Hi Gail, even though I am a new to this website, and learning and buying Scott jackets(4) as I go along. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and wish you nothing but a healthy and happy retirement. Remember you are truly loved by your family and friends and all the lives you have touched. God Bless You

Gail, first of all thanks for all your kindness, for answering the same questions every day, for your patience in helping us to get the best fit for our Schott jackets.

I'm from Chile, here they don't sell Schott jackets, so, it was pretty helpful to read all of your answers in the forum before getting a used one. I've been here just a couple of years but that's enough to recognize you're going to be missed Gail. Thanks a lot, and have a wonderful retirement!

Cheers from Chile!

Where will Schott be without Gail? But the main thing is that you enjoy your retirement and punish those mageritas big time!

Just wanted to congratulate you on your long fantastic career and thank you again (and again) for all of your assistance over the years. I know you personally helped me with a good number of questions. I now proudly wear 'n represent 5 Schott leathers from my first 618L in '86 all around NYC (Brooklyn old school) and wherever I am in the country. Enjoy your retirement - kill the margaritas, use lots of sunscreen and relax. You have a family here who misses you - thanks for checking in periodically. Be well!

As usual I got to the party late, but I wanted to say I’m glad that almost five years later Gail is still sticking around and still answering all our dumb questions, repeatedly and with great patience. Thanks for everything and I hope your semi-retirement is as enjoyable as mine has been.

My retirement has had it ups & downs, but it is all good. Have had 2 bouts with cancer since I retired and just finished my 2nd round of chemo treatments this past September. I have to say the inquiry posts on this forum and direct emails to me have kept me busy and is good medicine for me. I do not get up with a "Wow is me" attitude but a job I still enjoy doing. So thank you all for keeping me busy and for God's blessings for keeping me here.
