Question about Brando's wild one jacket

The jacket he wore in the movie was the predecessor to the 118 correct? Was the jacket length 24 or 25 inches?

Gail on 11/03/06 at 03:05 PM

Yes, the style 118 was introduced into our in 1978, the older Marlon Brando jackets from the 1950's were 24" in back length. Gail

Thanks Gail! Question, what influenced the decision to lenghten the jacket?

Gail on 11/06/06 at 02:38 PM

The jacket was made longer simple because the average height of a person today is taller than the average height of a person 50 years ago. Gail

Wow, I never would of thought of that. Thanks again. Question I've deciced to pick up a 618. I saw a company selling something called a "nostalgic one star". I think it's legendary USA. Is this the same jacket as the 618 minus the snaps on the collar?

Gail on 11/07/06 at 08:56 AM

The style 613 with the stars and the style 618 are the basically the same jacket in the style and fit. The 613 has the stars on the epaulets, plain snaps and no collar snaps. The style 618 has our "Schott" logo snaps. You can view both of these jackets on our website. Gail

The listing for the "nostalgic one star"on the legendaryusa site says that the length is 23.5. Is that the correct length? The 613 here says the length is 25. Did Legendaryusa do a typo? If I knew how to post links I'd post the link to the jacket page.

My 613 (size 40) is exactly 23.5 inches. It's snug and short like it should be.

Gail on 11/07/06 at 12:55 PM

Thank you for bringing to our attention of the error on our website, which I have corrected to a back length of 24". Each size will vary slightly in the back length for the graded patterns of jacket sizes. Smaller sizes will be slightly shorter than the larger size jackets which will be slightly longer. Gail

No problem Gail. At least now I know what my next definite purchase is, the 613.

copsunited on 11/07/06 at 03:32 PM

Wow, Now I am confused. I was all set to order a 613 but I have a very long back. 26" would be perfect, 25 I could get aways with but 23.5 or about that now.

So What can I do to get back to the Perfecto one star...??? guess I 'm going to call Gail. At six foot I ams still an odd ball in that I've really short legs and a long torso..we'll work on it.

HellboundGreaser on 11/07/06 at 03:37 PM

Get a 118 which is 25 and add the stars yourself. That what I did. Gail was kind enough to send me the stars. I love my 118 but I actually prefer a shorter jacket thus me wanting a 613. I will say that the 118 is perfect for layering up under. It seems to have a touch more room in the body so I can wear a quilted jacket under it comfortably.

crippe on 11/07/06 at 05:10 PM

I am 5,9 feet (181 cm) but I wouldn't want my 613 any longer.

crippe on 11/07/06 at 05:23 PM

The 613 is the real deal, classic.

Scrappy on 11/08/06 at 08:30 PM

I have a perfecto and Í believe it is a 613 (steerhide), and I am 5'8 and skinny. Thing is, it just seems a little shorter than what i'm used to. Do you all like the shorter fit? My shirts are longer than the jacket.

HellboundGreaser on 11/09/06 at 09:38 AM

I like the shorter fit. I'm 5'8 and my 118 comes right to the bottom of my belt line. Thats why I'm going to buy a 613. It's an inch shorter. Gotta size 38 613 you wanna trade for a less than two year old size 38 118? heh.
