Based on the Schott Logo pocket ticket it confirms the jacket was made in either 1983 or 1984, these are the 2 years we used these pocket labels on our jackets. The main Schott Sportswear label confirms it is either the style #418 (1983/1984) in the Finished Split leather or the style #517 (1983) in a soft Steerhide leather. Both of these types of leather used in these styles were a lesser cost leather and therefore did not have the Perfecto label in the jackets. The buckle on this jacket with the curved sides is not a Miter buckle which has mitered corners. The brown pulls on the leather are not original pulls put on by Schott, but added bya previous owner.

Is there anyway to tell if this is the #517 vs the 418 without the pocket ticket? Also what is the difference between the #517 and the #518? So these did come in Long sizes? Thanks so much for your help .

Also the lightweight quilted nylon lining is an military olive type color not black like the others I’ve seen in this line. Thanks again for your replies . BAHA

There is no actually way to determine if the jacket is a 418 or 517 just by looking at the jacket. Both styles were offered in long sizes making their actual style numbers 418L & 517L. The difference between the 517 & 518 is that the 517 has no piped pocket welts on the pockets and the 518 is a Grain Cowhide leather. Based on this quilt lining in the jacket and the style 517 only being offered for the year 1983, it is very possible this is the style number for the jacket. The quilt was probably quilt we had in stock and wanted to use up, since this was not a Perfecto jacket it was a quilt we could use in this Sportswear labeled style.
