Perfecto size

Hi,

I bought a nice new 118 perfecto in NYC shop around 1991. It seems to be a 44 size as displayed on (main and) hidden labels:  2949 / 031 / 118 / 44.

It fits OK.

I tried recently to look for an another perfecto 115J (on schott web page https://www.schott-store.com) and I tried to compute my regular size using the following parameters:

H 5' 9" W  159Lbs Chest 39/40 The output was 40.

How do you explain the difference, which size I must choose for a 1991 perfecto and for a 2020 perfecto?

The outside dimension at chest (inside the upper of sleeves) of my 118 (size 44) is 23" and at the top between shoulder board extremities is 20".

Regards

I have a current model 118 and it's a size 36. It measures 20" laid flat from pit to pit making it 40"

So it seems that you have what would be equivalent to a size 40 in the current model if you subtract 4".

The recommended size seems to be spot on for a current model 118.

Yours is probably a 42 since it was made before they updated the fit of the 118.

Thanks Pat, your answer is clear.

Oops I miscalculated. (23 x 2) - 4) is actually 42, not 40. I accidentally subtracted 4 from the listed jacket size (44) not the physical jacket size (46) so it seems you would have a 42 in the current model 118 not a 40. So if you like the way your current jacket fits then I'd go with a 42  in the current model 118.

If you were to order a current medel 618 then you would order a 44 to get the same fit as the jacket you already own. This makes sense since the 118 and 618 were sized identically in the early 90s.

Sorry for the confusion.
