Is this statement correct, particularly for a jacket made of horse hide as depicted in the article?
(I think I’ll stick with the Schott-labeled hanger, unless rolling up the jacket brings out some kind of magic dust.)

I have never heard rolling up a jacket and shoving it on a shelf will keep it soft, maybe put some creased in it. Caring for the leather will keep it in good condition, softness in a horsehide jacket comes with wear and breaking the jacket in. If you read the previous statements on the photos, this is an old jacket with many miles of wear, so of course it will be well broken-in and soft. Once a jacket is broken-in it will conform to your body and a less firm feel to the leather will increase with age. All leathers must be cared for with conditioning the leather, kind of like your own skin and how you care for it. I personally do not want to be rolled up and tossed on a shelf.

There seems to be some sentimental correlation between the old leather jacket and the wife. (Perhaps the author is as confused as his article.)
