MY NEW PERFECTO

hello

I just bought another perfecto.

I like these jackets, it's my fifth and I have three left.

I saw some differences with others.

there's not eylet under handles.

there's schott logo on front pocket

belt buckle with oval sides (one of mines have a same)

the tag on pocket coin isn't complete so i don't know if its 118 or 618 (i think 618)

it's TALON zipper.

oups, I forget : my button have schott logo and one on mine with bull on tag havn't got..

Unfortuantely I can not determine the leather type by photos. it could be either the 118 which has a dull appearance or the steerhide which has a shine and a firmer hand. Based on the Schott pocket ticket the jacket was produced in either 1983 or 1984 when we used these pocket tickets.

thank you very much Gail!

I think it's 618 because as you say it's firmer hand than my 118.

do you know when schott logo appear on button? it's to try to date my first perfecto ;-)

and other thing, the pocket coin is larger than my 2 others

to Tradcat : new because i't's not my first one but my last one ;-) i think it's 35 years old (1983)

just a question : have you ever seen a perfecto without eyelet under handle? me never and i ask me if it's not a mistake on my jacket...

Gail on 03/13/18 at 07:30 AM

Ludwig, I know you love collecting these rare vintage jackets and very lucky in finding them. I try my best to provide accurate time of production years possible based on what is on the jacket. We first starting using our Logo snaps in the mid-late 70's. This does not mean we used this new logo snap on all our styles immediately at that time. We possibly also made a special production lot of jakets without the logo snaps. After all these years it is hard to tell, I can only speculate. I am sorry but I do not understand what you mean by "eyelet under handle", can you provide a better description of what this means and where it is on the jacket?

thank you very much gail and sorry for my english because i'm french and sometimes i don't use the good word ;-)

for eyelet at armpit (good word?) there's only one of my jackets without it and i never seen another one like this so it's maybe a mistake...? (pics with and without it)

dear,

This is called the underarm footballs on a jacket, as you can see the shape is in the shape of a football, so that is where the name comes from. Older jackets did not have this option they were added to jackets for a freer less constrictive movement when riding. Many vintage jackets have these underarm footballs, but older or a different style may not have had these. If you check some of our styles such as the 618 you will see in the description the jacket has underarm footballs.

Hi Gail! thank you for your answer! but what about the eyelet (2 little hole) on underarm footballs?

It's the first time i see a Perfecto without it...

Gail on 03/16/18 at 07:34 AM

The eyelets I believe are for some ventilation for the armpits and sweating. I do not know if the eyelets were always used on the underarm footballs or if they were added to the footballs at a later time.
