Jacket label question

Hi Gail.

I saw a jacket for sale with a sportswear black label With SCHOTT in gold letters. The seller claims it's horsehide. Brown cafe racer. If it's horse would the label have said it? It's claimed to be from the 60's. No horse anywhere on the label.

Thanks

All jacket we produced in Horsehide will have a label stating the jacket is Genuine Horsehide. A Schott Sportswear label would not be a Horsehide jacket. I would really need to see photos of the jacket and the label to determine what style it is and approximate age.

Based on the label this is not a horsehide jacket. This jacket was a style we first offered in 1972 in a smooth finished cowhide and that style number was #256. We made this style for approximately 20 years, after 1975 it was made in the Steerhide or Naked Cowhide leather and the styles numbers were 656/156 or 657/157 depending on slight variations in styling. This vintage label in this jacket would place the jacket as being made between 1972-1975. I have posted a photo of this label from our Anniversary book and a Horsehide label that was the type we used in any of our horsehide jacket in the early 70's.
