help identifying 118J brown
Hi, greetings from Barcelona BCN
This past week I have fulfilled one of my dreams; to be the happy owner of a brown Perfecto.
I bought a 118J from a French girl friend and I am curious to know its history.
The tag reads (picture attached) :
118J
LOT 2106 - BNDL 003
The front zipper is a Schott USA while the sleeves are IDEAL
- This Perfecto cannot wear the faux fur collar:
"Schott stopped making the collar in the 1980's, and we even went so far as to remove the visible snap on the back of our Perfecto® jackets for a short time. Eventually, due to requests from purists, we added back the snap, and soon after began making the collar again. (Hopefully this will answer some of the many questions we receive about why there is a snap on the back of our Perfecto® jackets.)"
- 618J difference? (Gail)
"[...] Based on the the ticket in your pocket I can tell you that this was our style 618J which was a special production for our European distributors. Based on the label and style number, this jacket was produced late 1980's - mid 1990's, and is a steerhide jacket. Gail"
.....
"I checked our old records our distributor in France requested a very heavy steerhide in these jackets, that is why this jacket is heavier than your other M/C jacket. In our current leather we use 3 TO 3-1/2 oz. which is a heavy leather, this jacket was probably produced in a weight closer to 3-3/4 to 4 oz. The jacket sizing and patterns are all the same as our classic 618. Regards, Gail".
I would love to know a little more about the history of my first brown Perfecto.
Many thanks in advance for your help
