Bought this jacket about 20 years ago. Just discovered that it might possibly have been made by Schott

Anyone know for sure ?

PS - I removed the belt myself as found it a PITA when not riding

Thanks

We have made jackets for HD but just based on this photo I cannot confirm after all these years if it was a style we produced from them. First is there a label of origin in the jacket stating Made in USA as most of HD jackets were imports. They did have small production lots (500 pcs) made by us, but they supplied all the trim with their HD identification. I was actually the purchase agent when these jackets were made and any Logo trim for the jacket I had to order from China. By chance is there a white pocket ticket in one of the pockets, which would ID the jacket if made by us. I can see changes in the design from our classic style to this jacket, but HD also sent their own patterns to be used. Have to ask "what is Shovelhead"?

Made in USA

Snaps all have Harley Davidson Motor Co on them

Any white pocket ticket is long since gone.

One thing - I bought this jacket in Vancouver, BC and the small black label below the HD shield and eagles says

Made in USA

CA03402

Body: Genuine Leather

Lining: 100% Nylon

(then the same in French, Spanish and ?)

Small black label sewn below the label above says

Lining

100% Nylon

Insulation

Hollofill

100% Dacron Polyester

thats it

PS - a Shovelhead is a model of HD engine produced in Big Twins from 1966 - 1984

Engine models goes from earliest to latest -

Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution, Twin Cam, Milwaukee 8

Thanks

With your additional informational I can confirm Schott did not make this jacket for HD. Harley when wanting to produce some jackets in the USA, would put the jacket out for bid to leather manufactures. The factory with the lowest bid would get the contract.

Thanks Gail. Even if not made by the Greatest - it still is a great jacket. Expect to have it another 20 years !
