fit for a woman

love the look of a classic mc jacket. which would best fit a female physique 5' 5.5" tall 125 lbs, chest 34" (narrow back but full bust)

Brock on 10/31/06 at 04:01 PM

no i wont say it... :)

Gail on 11/01/06 at 08:21 AM

Unfortunately we do not offer the Classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket in women's sizes. The men's jacket in the men's sizes does not fit a women very well. The shoulder area is usually too big and the sleeves are very long on a women. The biggest problem with the fit though is in the length, the jacket usually ends in the hip area on a women. Because all motorcycle jackets taper in at the waist, the jacket is not wide enough at the bottom to fit arround the hip, you are unable to zipper the jacket. Based on the height of 5' 5" the jacket will definately be in the hip area and the sleeves will be very long. We do offer our Classic Racer jacket in women's sizes, our style 141W. Gail

i don't suppose there's any way i can catch a break here, fellas? aside from the obvious teasing i leave myself open to, point is finding the quaility jacket of my dreams... that actually fits right!

apologize for my crude and unabashedly male sense of humor sometimes rears its head and i dont filter my thoughts whether outloud or private....

good luck on your quest....seriously.

Gail on 11/02/06 at 08:45 AM

Hi Honeysuckle,

I can see the guys had a few comments, what can I say except they are good guys and men will be men! They are correct though we did make the classic perfecto jacket for women in previous years. If you have no luck in finding a jacket to your liking in women's sizes, you can contact me ( ) about making a custom jacket for you. Gail

hi, i'm back and see that i missed lot's of activity. first off, all is forgiven, let's kiss and make up...hey! on the forehead, and keep yer mitts to yerself*grin* thanks for the tip about fox creek. in fact, the ladies fitted classic that i ordered just arrived last night. at first inspection, ,the skin, which is naked leather, seems like very good quality, though i do have a few changes which their custom service would allow me to do. (what is the reason that women's work and utility clothes use thinner materials than mens? anybody? gail??) don't know that you all want to hear my ideas for these changes as this blog is dedicated to our beloved schott...but i will ask who among you have had experience with the foxcreek product and what your opinons are. i'd certainly appreciate the guidance. and yes, there's ebay. a friend sent me a link to a ladies vintage schott this a.m., sadly it's a size 12, which is waaay too big.. and also gail, i'll be emailing you to find out cusomizing options, although i hear my wallet wimpering...

I've got a nice one that would fit a discerning woman - check out the post below "Labour of Love" it's "a snip".  $7,000 and it's yours.

Gail on 11/06/06 at 03:09 PM

Hi Honeysuckle, Not sure about the lighter materials used in utility and work clothes for men versus women. I can really only comment on our jackets. All our women's jacket are made of the same quality, weight and thickness as a man's jacket. Hey we don't discriminate women need the same protection, maybe more so, since we do not have such tough hides Ha! Ha!. I cannot comment on this other company's jackets as I have not seen any of their items. Gail

My turn to apologise now Honeysuckle, men are hopeless - never fancied one myself. It's a pity you aren't here in Paris (France not Texas), small sizes are not so difficult to find here.

Maybe the thinner leather has something to do with a jacket's weight?  Women tend to be kinder to garments (my wife is a Stylist) Men... well it's true, we tend to hang things up on the floor and have blokes night's out in them I guess.

copsunited on 11/06/06 at 07:47 PM

Women don't usually like that much weight on them. My wife can hardly pick my one unitofrm jacket up. An I love the comments of Paris.. I hang mine up on the floor, across the nearest couch, chair or anyone not more mobile than I am. Mine got covered with beer a few times which did not lessen the weight. Light weight leathers while easier to work with do NOT give the protection that a good Schott cut leather jacket would. It is hard to tailor one specifically for the female form as the sizes and conformations are so different. What looks good or perfect on one looks like a burlap bag on another. If there is any one company that could do the job for you..I am SURE it would be Schotts.  Geno

thanks for the input ya'll. yes i want the same protection while i am riding as anyone else would have. also want to to look as beautiful too. i just love that look. i've sent off an email to our gail, in hopes of getting info about the custom made jacket thing. also, wondering if schott will be making any for women, as they've done before.
