Do you like this jacket? Why ?

Is this a real Schott jacket?

Has someone any informations about it (leather, fur, sizing, year, name of the model...) ?

This jacket was our style # 260 a Genuine Sheepskin jacket, I believe it was in our line from the early 1970's, the last year we produced this jacket was 1990. Gail

1) So it is an old pattern and a 44 would fit like a 42?

2) Are the zebras on the pocket and the different shades of the leather normal or defects ?

3) Seems to be the same coat. Does it really cost twice the price of a Perfecto?

The wool of the sheep is the inside of the jacket, so some customers preferred purchasing a size up for a looser fit, but a size 42 was based on a 42 chest. On these older vintage jackets they can be smaller in cut. This jacket is in the color Jungle Brown which had the solid brown wool inside and the shaded coloring on the outter hide of the jacket. Sheepskin leather is very expensive and doubles in price for us to purchase compared to other leathers. On our website we have the style 257S which is also a sheepskin jacket and the price is $750.00. Gail

Interesting, thanks.

It is a smaller cut or a true fit ? I don't catch. Would be a 44 like a modern 42 ?

I know the B3 jacket. It is a classic.  Is the 260 vintage jacket as thick and warm as the  B3 jacket ?

In the 2 pics, are the differences in shade, the lighter zones and the "zebras" on the pocket defects or it is the normal JUNGLE BROWN ?

This jacket is the same thichness and warmth as the B-3 jacket. If I remember correctly this was a smaller cut pattern then today's cut of a size 42 and would probably be a snug fit on a size 42 chest. Unfortunately I cannot remember how each vintage jacket fit. The stripes on the pocket appear to be some wear and tear on the jacket. The hide of the leather was shaded in appearance but not striped. Gail

I am surprised to hear that a sheepskin gets striped when you wear it and. I don't see how tears could make so large stripes.

What about the LIGHTER zones in the back and arms? Shouldn't the leather have the same color everywhere like it seems to be on a B-3 ?

Thanks for your help.

This jacket is a sueded sheepskin not a leatherized sheepskin as the B3 jacket. I do not know why there are stripes on the leather or what caused the stripes. Maybe the owner of the jacket can tel you, it may be caused by constant rubbing of something in that area of the jacket. This sueded sheepskin was shaded in appearance from light to dark. Gail

Gail, I will get this jacket soon. I will tell you what I think about it.

Gail, I got the jacket and I love it. It fit good and it seem to be very warm though light.

You told me it was wool nevertheless, the fur feels like fake. Actually I am sur at 95 % that the fur is fake as the fake fur on the collar for Perfecto looks more real than the fur on this jacket.

I see not stitching in the inside of the jacket like you see it in sheepskin jackets and you can pull the fur from the leather so the fur is not into the leather. The fur has some shiny treads too, like the fake fur of my flight jacket.

Is the fur fake ?

No, it comes from ebay.

Gail, please reply.

I would have no idea where the picture originated from to be posted on a ebay post.  Ican only confirm that the jacket is our, it is 100% genuine sheepskin. It seems by your post you are not too happy ordering from the website from a photo, based on this jacket and your collar purchase. In the future I think you would be happier purchasing your items through a retailer. This way you can actual see and try on the item before you purchase it. Gail

I know the jacket is a Schott and I think the leather may be sheep.

My point is : you told me the fur was pure wool while it is obviously fake wool.

My questions :

1) has Schott ever made this jacket with a fur similar to the fur of flight jacket's collar (so fake fur) ?

2) can the wool lining in a sheepskin jacket have NO stitched parts in the inside but be in one piece ?
