519 after professional cleaning
I bought a 519 about 4-5 years ago, and wear it a lot. I read somewhere that it can be helpful to get your perfecto professionally cleaned every few years to help extend its life. I found a professional cleaners in my city that specialised in leather care, and got it cleaned. It seems like they did a good job (it looks brand new), however, it has now lost that soft waxy / buttery feel that the jacket had out of the box that I loved.
I have read on the 519 page that leather conditioner / treatment is not needed. But it seems to me that the jacket was treated with something when it was made, and the cleaning process removed that treatment. Do you have any suggestions for how I might be able to restore it myself now that the jacket is "clean"? I have also read on this forum that mink oil is recommended, or the otter wax (safflower oil) that is sold on the website. Are these good for the 519? Or is there something else I should be looking at?
Thanks for your help!
