The Perfecto jacket has become a fashion icon, it's true. You see it everywhere on rock stars and Hollywood royalty. But how many of them look as cool as the guy on the Harley who just passed you on the highway?
The Perfecto motorcycle jacket is a technical riding coat at it's core. It was designed in 1928 to protect the early motorcycle riders when Indian and Harley-Davidson were the only American motorcycle manufacturers. When Irving Schott designed the first motorcycle jacket he knew that the asymmetrical zipper would block out the wind, the thick horse-hide leather would protect riders from falls, and the belted waist would create a snugger fit to prevent wind from blowing up inside the jacket. He added details to make riding more comfortable, like epaulets to hold gloves, numerous zippered pockets to hold everything a rider would need, and a bi-swing back with under arm footballs to allow riders to have their arms extended for long periods of time. As you all know, in the last 84 years, the design and production has not changed much at all.
Schott NYC has been dedicated to the biker community since its inception in 1913 and holds a deep concern for the safety of those who ride in Schott gear. However, we know that protecting your body (and looking cool) while riding is only half the battle. Whether you ride in a Perfecto, a Cafe Racer, a leather peacoat or a classic horsehide racer, knowing the right way to ride is what makes it all the more fun for you and everyone else on the road.
This is why we're offering a giveaway to beginner riders or those looking to start
