Why Does My New B-3 Look so Worn?
Watch this Post

This may sound like a dumb question, but hear me out.

So I get the jacket and I love it.  I've wanted a B-3 for years!  Quality seems great to me.  And it is so warm.  But when people hear the cost of the jacket I keep getting asked why the leather already looks so warm.  Like "that nice top layer will just start flaking off soon" as one person said.  And I have to wonder the same thing.

Now I know I bought functionality and quality but I would like a nice reason to give someone for why my jacket isn't as smooth and uncracked and shiny as other jackets are.  Is it "pre worn-out" for a vintage look at the expense of durability?  Is it treated differently?  Is the fact that one side is fur an issue?

Don't worry.  I'm not upset.  Just curious.  Again, thank you for the jacket, Schott!

Our leatherized sheepskin is modeled after the RAF jackets the pilots wore during WWII. The smooth leatherized finish on the top side of the skin will become more worn and distressed with wear. In time the jacket will become more distressed to have that vintage old appearance of a authentic RAF WWII jacket. Gail
