Shipping costs
Watch this Post

Dear Schott NYC,

I'm a proud owner of many Schott NYC products, including several jackets and pea coats, made of wool, made of leather. It could be more, though. Reason why I hesitate to order more from your website are your "calculated" shipping costs. I live in Germany and I have been buying internationally for the last 10 years or so. I've bought lots of stuff from the US, mostly vintage skateboards, clothing, etc. and therefore I can say that I have notion of what things cost to be shipped over the pond. The shipping costs "calculated" on your website are way off what shipping would really be. For example, if I bought such a small item like a beanie from your site you would charge me $49.53 for shipping. In real life shipping from the US to Germany would not even be $10. If I would order a classic Perfecto 118 from your site you would charge me $82.78 for shipping. In real life not more than $40. All with tracking info. Dont get me wrong, I know your jackets and coats are worth their money, but the shipping is way off and I would feel ripped off if I'd pay that money. Someone really should fix that and I'd gladly buy directly from your webstore

Don't take it personal.

Cheers,

Steven

The exact same thing blew my mind seeing it just a few hours ago checking the shipping costs, located in the Netherlands.

We do understand the cost for shipping internationally can be expensive. We ship all international orders on Fedex as we can track the order quickly, and most orders are delivered in 3-5 business days. Unfortunately we have no control over the rates as it is based on weight and destination and there is a minimum weight charge. I believe you can check the Fedex rates on their site. I did check what the USPS rates were, a 2 lb. package shipping to Germany by Express Mail with a tracking number and a 5 day delivery will cost $45.00. Shipping by International Parcel Post without a tracking number the cost is $34.00. If a Fedex package becomes lost a claim is usually paid in 10 business days or less, if a Parcel Post shipment becomes lost it can take up to 60 days for a claim to be paid. We want to replace any lost shipment as quickly as possible and until the carrier confirms the package is lost we cannot do a replacement shipment. I recently sent my grandaughters a card with a check for back to school stuff by Priority Mail to Virginia and it cost me $15.00 and that was just a card in the USPS Priority Mail envelope.  Gail
