I'm looking at an eBay Perfecto, size 46, that's supposed to have the following measurements:
Front top to bottom(when zipped): 20.5
Back top to bottom: 23
This seems to be pretty short for a size 46; my Durojac (like the Perfecto) is a couple of inches longer. So: (1) Are Perfectos cut short? (2) Is this a woman's jacket? (3) Are the seller's measurements off?
Also, why is the back longer than the front?
Thanks!! |

Ok, I found the answer to my question on another thread! This is a normal, older, Perfecto, made to length 23, not the current 25.
Now, can someone help me with its age? It's a 118, made in lot 1501, bndl 025. Thanks! |

Unfortunately it is hard to determine the age of a jacket just based on the little information we have to work with. The 118 jacket in the naked cowhide was introduced into our line in 1977. Since we updated the 118 patterns from the smaller cut in 1998 and we started using bar code numbers on the pocket tickets, I can only determine the jacket was made prior to 1996. What type of Perecto label is in the jacket, as we have used different styled Perfecto labels through the years, this could help pin point the approximate production time better. Gail |

Thanks, Gail! The label has a motorcycle and rider in the top left corner, "Perfecto" in the diagonal stripe, and "by Schott NYC" in the bottom right corner. It also has the American flag size label on the right-hand side of the label as you look at it. Any information would be very much appreciated!

We started using the Perfecto label with the cycle rider in the corner in the late 1980's. So this jacket was made between the late 1980's and 1996. Gail |

Hi I recently bought a 46 on E-Bay.got the little cyclist in the corner so I guess it's a 118? Thing is I'm 6foot 4 inch although I'm thin it feels a little short in lenght. Perfect otherwise. Just how short should they be ? Where abouts should the bottom of the jacket sit on waist? Belt ?
Looking at Brando in the Wild One when he's sat on bike the jacket looks half way up his back . |

Hi John,
Based on your height a regular 118 will be very short on you. At 6' 4" you need a long size such as our 118L and even a long could be short on you. We recommend long sizing for a person over 6' at your height of 6' 4", depending on your torso and sleeve measurement, even a long may be short on you when riding. As with all motorcycle jackets the sleeves should be long enough to allow when your arms are outstretched and the sleeves ride up. The same holds for the jacket's length it needs to be long enough for when you bend forward when riding causing the jacket to ride. In regards to Marlon Brando's jacket, I am not sure how tall a person he was, but our older jackets from the 1950's were shorter jackets, 23-1/2 - 24" depending on jacket style and size. Remember also that 55 years ago people were built differently and the average person was shorter then todays average person. Gail |

Depending on where you read it, Marlon Brando was either 5'8" or 5'10"...officially he was 5"10" but those that are supposed to "know" say he was actually 5'8" according to several web pages that I scouted out... |
